  • hey whats that thing you put on the pad? that sticker thing???? what is it for?? is it necessary?

  • 21,000th viewer!

Not such a bad job btw

  • nice video, by the way what is that song called. it fits well with the video lol and only one person hated it

  • nice video, by the way what is that song called. it fits well with the video lol

  • Thanks a bunch, Sir ;)

  • I find that CRC brake quiet works very well to stop the brake noise. Just apply it before you put your brakes and it will last until your next brake change.

  • good job, looks like the toughest part was getting the damn hubcap back on!

  • I think he did a great job, he even followed a star pattern on thetire, good video. All you need is a good C clamp, even a crappy C clamp would work.

  • only mistakes i saw was no jack stand and didn't support the caliper when it was off. kills the brake lines.

  • Really? I mean if you don't understand whats going on, maybe you really are better off going to a mechanic.

    This was a good vid.

  • lol, #

quiquemoranmoyano 's comment said rape, WTF. i have never been approached or raped at a car shop

  • What's with all the negative comments? What have any of you done to help me or anyone? Most likely nothing. This guy made a video that showed me all that I needed to know. If you need voice-over comments maybe you need to look at your own cognitive skillset (or potential lack thereof) instead this helpful guy's.

  • holy spelling fail...reservoir***

  • What part of this video was instructional?

  • next time put the old brake pad across the piston when you use the c clamp that way you dont damage the piston

  • Thanks! Replace the front pads on my Scion XB in 30 minutes for $50. They work great. The rotors were just fine too even at 70,000.

  • nothing wrong with saving money been doin it for yrs now!!!!! good show!!!

  • I am curious why the rotor was so loose, ive always had to break mine loose when doing a brake job. You took the caliper off and it was already free, you coulda took it off with no effort at all.

  • sorry but when you were putting the lugs back on did you spray it with wd40?? wtfff

  • Good video - shows you how to get it done. I have a 2001 .. EXACTLY the same setup.

  • @Disscombobulated

people who want to avoid brake vibration get them machined.

and good luck when your caliper pins sieze from not relubing them...

  • I had trouble putting the rim back on too. :P

  • tisk tisk, shame on for you not getting your rotors machined or replaced.

  • @captaincaveman1 there's no point on doing this... if the rotors are in decent shape they're fine... and you should never have to replace them unless you take the pads all the way down to the metal and shred up your disks... so joke's on you big guy for droppin about 30 bucks a rotor to have them milled again! hahaha

and it looked like uploader was having a bit of trouble with the hubcap! sorry that made me laugh pretty hard watchin you try to get that hubcap on... hahaha

  • @captaincaveman1 WTF does tisk tisk mean? Sounds like two gay men masturbating each other, just saying!

  • Finally, a honest one. No bullshit, or bla, bla ,bla. In a world that they are a lots of experts and they dont know shit. I bet , you would have fix the oil leak at the platform in the gulf of mexico faster and better than ALL the "engineers experts". We need more people like you. short talk , lots of action. Cheers my friend !!!

  • Thanks man! Now I know where I've been going wrong. I removed the whole damn thing at once, and as I was putting the new pads in, was like how do I get these damn little wire clips back in all the way in behind? Fucking pain in the ass! But now I see your supposed to take only half the thing off. DUH!

  • Would have been nice to drop the freakin' muzak and get your freakin' shoulder outta half the frames. O and maybe insert some comments so we know what the freak your doin'.

  • Comment removed

  • Would have been much more useful if you dropped the rock and did a voice-over, explaining some of the more esoteric steps.

  • Best video, very clear, and finally a Toyota. Thank you, I just saved 650.00. Why do car mechanics want to rape everybody at their shops, if they had charged me 250 or 275, I would have paid for it, but now for 69.00 bucks I fixed it myself and they gat nothing. Any mechanics out there, most of you, are THIEVES!!

  • @quiquemoranmoyano

Brake jobs have the biggest rip-off potential because of the fear factor. Women who carry kids in their cars are easy prey. The cost of replacing 4 wheel disc pads, about 50 bucks, but at a shop, $250. Rotors are rarely needed, but almost always replaced at brake shops. Four rotors, 150 bucks, but if a brake shop does it, $750. Help shut these crooks down. Ask a good mechanic to look at your brakes before you get raped.

  • @quiquemoranmoyano $650? For this job? Who the heck are you taking it to! Any decent mechanic should be able to do front and rear rotors AND pads on that car for $450 TOPS, and that would be for decent parts! I just did this job on my 1999 camry, tho i did the rotors because mine shook some when braking, and it was only $95 for parts, pads AND rotors.

  • @quiquemoranmoyano

lol dude i bought pads front and back for under 30 bucks before. worked fine no noise and lifetime warrenty lol 650 is a ripoff. only time i see people charging 650 and up is dealership or really expensive cars

  • @quiquemoranmoyano Except WE don't set the prices, management does. Also the reason it's so expensive is because shops (ie management) charge about $100/hour labor, techs usually see only $10-20 of that. And the reason you pay a premium is so that you get people who know what their (we're) doing, granted if it's something simple then do it yourself by all means, but for the big jobs...leave that to the pros.

  • Next time open the hood and remove the cover to the master cylinder, so that when you push the caliper back in, there re no air bubbles. Air bubbles could pose a problem later on.

  • @yamahabanshee409 I was going to say that, not to mention Ive seen plastic resivours break. Also a prybar helps, wedge it in there and move that piston back a little before you take the caliper off because its a pita sometimes to get it off.

  • good job..... next time only remove the bottom bolt from the caliper and just flip it up and remove the pads. Also since u got the wheel off and replacing the brakes, invest in some Brake Kleen spray. Spray down the rotors, caliper etc.

  • how would you like this guy to work on your car? he wouldnt touch mine.

  • Thanks dude, very informative

  • Great job. Any videos on the rear drums?

  • thanks

  • I just love, really love, watching a shade tree mechanic. But, you can do it without taking off the hub cap. Just remove the lugs thru the holes. It's not a Honda.

  • @northskokie Those are fake lug nuts on the hub caps. Tis a yota!

  • Nice Job buddy!
