When you're a gear hound like me, you can sometimes end up with more than one of pretty much the same thing. for this pedal board I upgraded the me50 to the me70 and that has a pretty decent envelope filter on it, and I have another qtron that I use in my rack. This unit has since sold a while back and I'm still using mine.
No, an effects loop in an amp is going to put the desired effect after the preamp gain and before the power. The effects loop in the unit will still be infront of the amp's pre amp therefor it's not the same.
The effects loop in the unit itself is kind of the same thing but just in regard to the effects of the pedal. It's a cool feature to play with.
