  • No, he saw to it that editing was done the right way, and that investigative reporters got it right and told the story the right way. That's all. Donno where you get that Jmshaw.

  • Hewitt should be remembered as the man who made editorial interchangeable with news reporting. He saw it as his duty to sell opinion as news, thereby molding public opinion. This is immoral and unethical, but now it is the norm in the news business.

  • @jmshaw357 I don't believe Hewitt's editing is immoral. I do see the argument that it was unethical. Hewitt believed in a good guy/bad guy narrative because that is what appealed to the audience he was targeting. The problem is that 60 Minutes was never open about doing so, and it created many injustices that destroyed people who didn't deserve it. I can agree it is now the norm.

  • RIP Don Hewitt

  • There is a reason why Don Hewitt is a great producer. This interview makes the reasons plain. He paints a word picture. This is time well spent.

  • Don Hewitt is the ultimate story teller. His life and accomplishments are simply amazing. Read his book for more information "Tell Me A Story" -Don Hewitt
