maybe that explains why homosexuals have increased in population, could it be the tao manifesting its will through our biology. A spiritual revelation that has been in motion before the universe exploded into many. man i love this song
when the 10 commandments were created ...many men had multiple wives....but procreaction has become,not a problem anymore we have enough people to make more than enough children just between 2 people. I'm not persucating them...just think that god revolutonized religeon as he saw fit and now poligamy is counter-productive in our economy.
This reminds me of inFamous for some reason.. Like in the first one, that crazy chick that is always sexual and stuff, this reminds me of her and Cole when you choose to be a bad guy.
god and the devil are the same thing. now listen to the song and thank whichever one you choose to believe in for making sexiness like this readily available.
@TheEleventhElven I don't think religion is too far of a topic for Otep fans to discuss, seeing as she mentions pagan gods and Christian tangents in quite a few of her songs. Plus, if nothing gets discussed, then nothing can be understood or improved.
@ThePoisond What i meant by that is whenever religion is brought up there is more bickering than discussion. Otep uses allusion but only as symbolism and imagery. Otep doesn’t believe in religion, so this is a very odd place to talk about it. If people wish to argue about religion, they need to go to a forum designed for that. Unfortunately religion isn't a peaceful subject, and people can't just let things go. I agree with what your saying, but no one is exchanging information, just insults.
@TheEleventhElven I would hardly say her atheism prevents a discussion of religion. Ironically, atheism itself is a style of belief-- which every religion is founded on. But, no, I do agree with you on that one aspect: it'd be nice if people could just discuss their ideas in a civil manner.
@ThePoisond Would a Hindus want a Muslim and a Voodooist slur each other’s religion on his/her song? So why would an Atheist? She doesn’t care if anyone believe in the religious references she’s using or not. It doesn’t really matter what philosophy or religion she follows, I was just trying to reveal the sillinesss of it. Atheism is a non-belief system, but i get your point. There is a time and place for everything. Allusions don’t excuse narrow-mindedness, and this song isn’t even religious.
@TheEleventhElven No, probably not. But I feel like that discussion really depends on the content of the song. If the Hindu singer was not discussing religion at all, then no. It's not true that Otep does not mention religion in her song. Also, atheism is a non-belief system only in respect to God/ gods. Atheism still is a belief system to me, because as Christians believe there is a God, atheists believe there is none-- and both believe they're right. Atheism, then, is still a type of belief.
@TheEleventhElven But, yes, I do agree about the time and place thing. I also would expand that to include a way to do it. But it's impossible to make everyone see that.
@raiban19v Right on. See, the problem isn't which religion is bad, but rather all religions are bad. Choose spirituality over religion. For, spirituality comes from within, whereas religion is an outward construct created by an imperfect animal, one which is susceptible to lust for power and greed, thus creating radicals.
@infectiousUG but what i don't get is how the message of God and Jesus have been lost in the media, money, and people all together. well i have seen people who are just good at the core.
@raiban19v It goes wrong because most religions are started with the idea of "Fixing" another, therefore already saying it is "Better" than the previous. It's much like making a new high school from group of people from a previous one, how do you expect them not to become rivals? It just happens, except instead of education it's a mass way of life and beliefs of their eternal souls. So instead of fighting at the park, you get centuries of mass muder/genocide/slaughter
@infectiousUG I wouldn't say this is quite accurate. Buddhism and Hinduism are both religions, and they have generally been peaceful and devoid of radicals. My theory (and I stress that it's only a theory, I don't really have reason to be sure it's true) is that absolutism and bigotry are associated with monotheism, the notion that there can only be one right way, and it has to be YOUR way or you've wasted your life. Or, as George Carlin said it, "My God has a bigger d**k than your God!".
@raiban19v exatcly, bro. I'm christian and I couldn't agree more. It's the damn radicals and their prejudice who are always destroying every form of union between people. Segregation generates hate, which generates war. War is bad. Is it all that difficult to just accept other people?
@xrymoar The first Christian I've seen with a rational mind set. Racism is created by hate, hate fuels and consumes. The problem is however, the simple man. He can be manipulated and easily led stray. There are two kinds of people, free thinkers and sheep both of which are dangerous to the other. War how ever has nothing to do with hate or racism, greed fuels the war-machine. And it always has.
@Chronbear420 well.. the civil war was complete racism lol (not trying to be a smartass but still) you got a good point , but i guess war is here to stay , i dont think its possible to change us , its all how things are.. Dominance is an instinct , racism, greed, power, everything u can put into war has to do with dominance
@Gl4nG3R i respectfully disagree we were not always this greedy & power hungry (science proves that we are made to be caring & help one another) the whole dominance & greed issue in my opinion is new & was forced upon us. i mean when you see a babe (baby) are they separating themselves from different
@Gl4nG3R people/surroundings? no we teach them things or they observe. not being around certian things but if you cry in front of a baby it feels bad or tries and makes it better (science & every babe i've been around)
@goddessoflove4ever well , the only reason kings were kings are from dominance , the first kings were always the biggest , strongest , and most dominant human in the pack (this dates back to cavemen etc early humanity) every caveman was dominant , and that is why monarchy had started , soon places all over the world were monarchies , some had drifted out of monarchy though so your half right (i.e. Rome and Athens)
@Gl4nG3R No, it really wasn't. The Civil War was initially started because of the secession of the South from the North. The matter of slavery wasn't thrown into the "causes" of the Civil War until after the Gettysburg Address. It wasn't a matter of race at all in the beginning.
@xrymoar i agree in acceptance , but i'm not much of a religion fan.. religion doesnt really have anything to do with the music or anything and shouldn't be released publicly as they did before , its just a teaching.. cuz i mean cmon , are you for SURE its true? but anyways , theres some good out of though.. thumbs up 2 u
The Genesis creation myth was really just a metaphor for society's shift from hunting and gathering to agriculture. The time frame given in the Bible even matches up with this transition. The "tree of knowledge" was meant to make us like God; which it did by us learning to create life, in the form of crops. The "sin" was owning property, neccessary to agriculture. Property inevitablly creates conflict as there are those without who want what others have.
The same conflict was the reason for "Satan's" exile. For just as in the "Garden of Eden", in "Heaven" there was no resistance, but rather complete compliance and conformity prior to "Satan's" rebellion. "Satan" wanted the power which "God" had. Property is theft, Theft is property. The "Garden of Eden" was a place of peace, no property, there for all to share. But when one takes claim to property, one destroys peace. When you remove the religious bullshit, it teaches a historical fact.
Remember, during Biblical days, there was no Freedom of Speech. So the authors of the Bible had to diguise their true meaning. Just as the book of Revelation is referring to the Roman Empire. Christianity was a dead religion, until the Catholic Church seen its potential use in controlling the masses. The Bible of today is a censored version, edited by King James I of England. The Truth was omitted, the Light dimmed, in order to favor the Churches agenda.
@raiban19v You should probably be careful of making that brush off. I knew someone who made an off-hand comment that Catholics worship the Virgin Mary, who was a human woman. Although the mother of Jesus, she believed it subverted Jesus and God. No, the Catholics celebrate Mary, not worship her.
I'm not Catholic, but I'm willing to bet it's not as simple as that. I doubt that's how true believers feel.
I normally don't leave comments but I just had to say THANK YOU! I am not catholic anymore but I can tell you when I was I did NOT worship Mary. I don't see why people think catholics do. Worshiping Mary would be breaking the first commandment which is a sin. Btw love this song :)
@ScytheOfElegance13 You're welcome. Although I'm not sure I deserve the thanks, seeing as I only recently learned that myself. I think the problem for this miscommunication is that information can be skewed, lacking, or manipulated (intentionally or not). The fact that I'm not Catholic, and never was, means I wouldn't be entirely clear on the tenets of their faith unless I did the research. I think sometimes people forget that.
Haha ok well at least you don't assume things and you would want to be read up before you start saying stuff. Most people just run their mouths without really knowing what their talking about. Yay for not being one of those people.
@ScytheOfElegance13 I think most of that desire to read before you speak comes with age and the initial desire for knowledge. But, yes, it really is sad that that and common sense have already been buried long ago.
Hm you're right. I use to be an ignorant little arse myself. But it seems less and less youth are going out of their way to become more knowledgeable.
@ScytheOfElegance13 I wonder why that is. It bothers me that people in Shakespeare's time generally knew more words on average than we do today (which makes me wonder about statistics, but that's a whole other boat). I'm curious why the pursuit of education has cooled off. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that if everyone has the same level of education, then there will be a lot of us who cannot occupy the jobs we want. I'd hate to think too much education could be bad though.
I thought about something like that. Everyone tells their children you need to go to college and get a degree. But you have to have people who are willing to do other things beside be CEOs and what not. That's why when someone say to me-you don't want to end up flipping burgers do you....I feel bad because hey appreciate the person that's flipping your burger otherwise you might not have one. Idk food for thought.
@ScytheOfElegance13 I think people tend to overlook burger-flippers usually. It really irks me to see people's manners sometimes. I never saw someone go at the cook when I was in fastfood, but as the cashier myself... That sucked. People forget you're human. But, no, not everyone can be CEOs-- but no one should have to choose to do a job that only pays minimal. Yet there doesn't seem to be any way entirely around the problems different government styles can present. Someone always will suffer.
This is very true. What an intellectual conversation. I normally don't leave comments but this time I'm glad I did. I haven't had this type of discussion since school. How sad.
@ScytheOfElegance13 Maybe you haven't been looking in the right place? Or maybe it's just that I'm still in college. But it does seem like intellectual conversations go down when you leave an academic environment, huh? I'm glad you're enjoying this conversation though. I'm always happy to have these kinds of conversations.
Even in academic environments intellectual conversations can be lacking. At least in high school. Or the one I went to. I wouldn't know about college though since I don't go but from what I here even in college some people seem to be lacking in knowledge.
@ScytheOfElegance13 That is very true. It's just the few that I've gotten have come from academic settings. When you can't get an intellectual conversation though, it's usually because people are either too reserved and shy to share their ideas, or have no other interest but goofing off. And unfortunately, school environments tend to produce both behaviors.
Mhmm. This is true as I myself am reserved and shy and don't go out of my way to start conversations with others. Though that is mostly due to the fact that people get so heated about things. Like with religion they automatically think they are right in what they say and condemn you if you say anything differently. Oh and HA I put here instead of hear (shows I might not be all that intelligent either) lol.
@ScytheOfElegance13 I can talk to almost anyone really and about almost everything. I know people get heated with politics though (I had a huge headache brought on by my response to an email that had trashed my presidential choice back in 2008). It's good that people are interested, but the problem is that people get cocky and do think they're right-- that's counterproductive to solving anything. But I have to say I liked your last statement. Intelligence is truly just a matter of opinion.
I suppose I did put it that way. Hmm that makes me think of something I read about once that I found very interesting. It was about Sophists and their way of thinking. Here it is-
The outstanding sophist Protagoras reduced the entire mental life of the individual to perceptions, as expressed in hiscontention "man is the measure of all things". According to him knowlegde,truth, and reality possess only a subjective existence-they are only opinions in each persons mind. No objective
facts or real truths apply to all people. What is true for one is truth for that one alone. There is more but I'll spare you. Idk just food for thought when you mentioned intelligence is a matter of opinion.
@ScytheOfElegance13 Yes. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks that. I think I had read somewhere or heard somewhere a Christian talking about how what God revealed to Moses is what God revealed to Moses, not the truth for all people. The 10 commandments were given to Moses, so the person was saying that was not necessarily the truth for all people. But that's a matter of controversy. Anyway, that's what that made me think of. And sophists--I recently heard of them. Must say, I love it.
@ScytheOfElegance13 Nothing like that. I took Psych while in college myself, and I still insisted upon reading snippets and pieces of my mom's text for her online psych class.
Honestly, I feel like religion should not be considered off-limits. It'd be great if we could all be open and honest about our views and opinions. That way, we wouldn't have to be so misguided by misinformation, and we could all learn a thing or two about each other.
It would be nice if we could be open and honest about religion. But the reality is that that will probably never happen. I kind of wonder why that is exactly. We could learn a thing or two about each other as you said. Maybe it is because people are afraid of the things they might learn....
@ScytheOfElegance13 It's easier to hold one's misconceptions. There's a lot of information out there and people can spend their whole lives seeking it and still never get enough. Also, sometimes its hard to convey the details of other's religions, because there is debate in the community itself. Think of the debate on abortion and the debate on homosexuality. Things like that leave people misguided and disillusioned with others too.
@ThePoisond I suppose that is true. I just think it would be better if people were more open minded. It might make for more understanding and less hurt.
@ThePoisond god gave moses the 10 commandments.... these rules are prevelent in our lives as of now...* no matter what religeon you are in,,, these rules are common sense
@crystalys420 They are, and I realize this. But I doubt some of them should be considered just common sense. The rule for adultery would argue that there should not be such a thing as "sister wives." While I personally could never live that lifestyle myself, I don't see why someone else should be unallowed to live theirs based off their own beliefs and ideals. Although, the ten commandments make sense for a reason-- they are made to appeal to human logic in one way or another.
@ScytheOfElegance13 you say i sin, you say im bown for hell, so when ur judgement condems you, i shall see you there <3 lol a lil quote off a t-shirt i read once :P thats what i think about peoples religions condeming me

War is bad. Is it all that difficult to just accept other people?
xrymoar 1 year ago 2
@xrymoar The first Christian I've seen with a rational mind set. Racism is created by hate, hate fuels and consumes. The problem is however, the simple man. He can be manipulated and easily led stray. There are two kinds of people, free thinkers and sheep both of which are dangerous to the other. War how ever has nothing to do with hate or racism, greed fuels the war-machine. And it always has.
Chronbear420 1 year ago
@Chronbear420 well.. the civil war was complete racism lol (not trying to be a smartass but still) you got a good point , but i guess war is here to stay , i dont think its possible to change us , its all how things are.. Dominance is an instinct , racism, greed, power, everything u can put into war has to do with dominance
Gl4nG3R 1 year ago
@Gl4nG3R i respectfully disagree we were not always this greedy & power hungry (science proves that we are made to be caring & help one another) the whole dominance & greed issue in my opinion is new & was forced upon us. i mean when you see a babe (baby) are they separating themselves from different

Gl4nG3R 1 year ago
@Gl4nG3R lol welp ah well
goddessoflove4ever 1 year ago

Property inevitablly creates conflict as there are those without who want what others have.
infectiousUG 1 year ago 2
The same conflict was the reason for "Satan's" exile. For just as in the "Garden of Eden", in "Heaven" there was no resistance, but rather complete compliance and conformity prior to "Satan's" rebellion. "Satan" wanted the power which "God" had. Property is theft, Theft is property. The "Garden of Eden" was a place of peace, no property, there for all to share. But when one takes claim to property, one destroys peace. When you remove the religious bullshit, it teaches a historical fact.
infectiousUG 1 year ago
Remember, during Biblical days, there was no Freedom of Speech. So the authors of the Bible had to diguise their true meaning. Just as the book of Revelation is referring to the Roman Empire. Christianity was a dead religion, until the Catholic Church seen its potential use in controlling the masses. The Bible of today is a censored version, edited by King James I of England. The Truth was omitted, the Light dimmed, in order to favor the Churches agenda.

@infectiousUG well did martin luther help?
but yes i do believe you are right about catholics cause when you take a closer look its the pope in charge not God or Jesus.
raiban19v 1 year ago
@raiban19v You should probably be careful of making that brush off. I knew someone who made an off-hand comment that Catholics worship the Virgin Mary, who was a human woman. Although the mother of Jesus, she believed it subverted Jesus and God. No, the Catholics celebrate Mary, not worship her.
I'm not Catholic, but I'm willing to bet it's not as simple as that. I doubt that's how true believers feel.
ThePoisond 1 year ago
@ThePoisond
I normally don't leave comments but I just had to say THANK YOU! I am not catholic anymore but I can tell you when I was I did NOT worship Mary. I don't see why people think catholics do. Worshiping Mary would be breaking the first commandment which is a sin. Btw love this song :)
ScytheOfElegance13 11 months ago
@ScytheOfElegance13 You're welcome. Although I'm not sure I deserve the thanks, seeing as I only recently learned that myself. I think the problem for this miscommunication is that information can be skewed, lacking, or manipulated (intentionally or not). The fact that I'm not Catholic, and never was, means I wouldn't be entirely clear on the tenets of their faith unless I did the research. I think sometimes people forget that.
ThePoisond 11 months ago
@ThePoisond
Haha ok well at least you don't assume things and you would want to be read up before you start saying stuff. Most people just run their mouths without really knowing what their talking about. Yay for not being one of those people.
ScytheOfElegance13 11 months ago
@ScytheOfElegance13 I think most of that desire to read before you speak comes with age and the initial desire for knowledge. But, yes, it really is sad that that and common sense have already been buried long ago.
ThePoisond 11 months ago
@ThePoisond
Hm you're right. I use to be an ignorant little arse myself. But it seems less and less youth are going out of their way to become more knowledgeable.
ScytheOfElegance13 11 months ago
@ScytheOfElegance13 I wonder why that is. It bothers me that people in Shakespeare's time generally knew more words on average than we do today (which makes me wonder about statistics, but that's a whole other boat). I'm curious why the pursuit of education has cooled off. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that if everyone has the same level of education, then there will be a lot of us who cannot occupy the jobs we want. I'd hate to think too much education could be bad though.
ThePoisond 11 months ago
@ThePoisond
ScytheOfElegance13 11 months ago
@ScytheOfElegance13 I think people tend to overlook burger-flippers usually. It really irks me to see people's manners sometimes. I never saw someone go at the cook when I was in fastfood, but as the cashier myself... That sucked. People forget you're human. But, no, not everyone can be CEOs-- but no one should have to choose to do a job that only pays minimal. Yet there doesn't seem to be any way entirely around the problems different government styles can present. Someone always will suffer.
ThePoisond 11 months ago
@ThePoisond
This is very true. What an intellectual conversation. I normally don't leave comments but this time I'm glad I did. I haven't had this type of discussion since school. How sad.
ScytheOfElegance13 11 months ago
@ScytheOfElegance13 Maybe you haven't been looking in the right place? Or maybe it's just that I'm still in college. But it does seem like intellectual conversations go down when you leave an academic environment, huh? I'm glad you're enjoying this conversation though. I'm always happy to have these kinds of conversations.
ThePoisond 11 months ago
@ThePoisond
Even in academic environments intellectual conversations can be lacking. At least in high school. Or the one I went to. I wouldn't know about college though since I don't go but from what I here even in college some people seem to be lacking in knowledge.
ScytheOfElegance13 11 months ago
@ScytheOfElegance13 That is very true. It's just the few that I've gotten have come from academic settings. When you can't get an intellectual conversation though, it's usually because people are either too reserved and shy to share their ideas, or have no other interest but goofing off. And unfortunately, school environments tend to produce both behaviors.
ThePoisond 11 months ago
@ThePoisond
ScytheOfElegance13 11 months ago
@ScytheOfElegance13 nah, just a typo neh? Happens to me all the time O.o
Taffyfolkartist 11 months ago
@ScytheOfElegance13 I can talk to almost anyone really and about almost everything. I know people get heated with politics though (I had a huge headache brought on by my response to an email that had trashed my presidential choice back in 2008). It's good that people are interested, but the problem is that people get cocky and do think they're right-- that's counterproductive to solving anything. But I have to say I liked your last statement. Intelligence is truly just a matter of opinion.
ThePoisond 10 months ago 3
@ThePoisond
ScytheOfElegance13 9 months ago 2
@ThePoisond
facts or real truths apply to all people. What is true for one is truth for that one alone. There is more but I'll spare you. Idk just food for thought when you mentioned intelligence is a matter of opinion.
ScytheOfElegance13 9 months ago 2
@ScytheOfElegance13 Yes. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks that. I think I had read somewhere or heard somewhere a Christian talking about how what God revealed to Moses is what God revealed to Moses, not the truth for all people. The 10 commandments were given to Moses, so the person was saying that was not necessarily the truth for all people. But that's a matter of controversy. Anyway, that's what that made me think of. And sophists--I recently heard of them. Must say, I love it.
ThePoisond 7 months ago
@ThePoisond Eh usually anything dealing with religion is controversial. Me too ^_^
Would it make me a nerd if I said I found that out by reading my friend's college textbooks lol
ScytheOfElegance13 7 months ago
@ScytheOfElegance13 Nothing like that. I took Psych while in college myself, and I still insisted upon reading snippets and pieces of my mom's text for her online psych class.
Honestly, I feel like religion should not be considered off-limits. It'd be great if we could all be open and honest about our views and opinions. That way, we wouldn't have to be so misguided by misinformation, and we could all learn a thing or two about each other.
ThePoisond 6 months ago 2
@ThePoisond
It would be nice if we could be open and honest about religion. But the reality is that that will probably never happen. I kind of wonder why that is exactly. We could learn a thing or two about each other as you said. Maybe it is because people are afraid of the things they might learn....
ScytheOfElegance13 6 months ago 2
@ScytheOfElegance13 so fucking true!!!!
crystalys420 6 months ago
@ScytheOfElegance13 It's easier to hold one's misconceptions. There's a lot of information out there and people can spend their whole lives seeking it and still never get enough. Also, sometimes its hard to convey the details of other's religions, because there is debate in the community itself. Think of the debate on abortion and the debate on homosexuality. Things like that leave people misguided and disillusioned with others too.
ThePoisond 5 months ago
@ThePoisond I suppose that is true. I just think it would be better if people were more open minded. It might make for more understanding and less hurt.
ScytheOfElegance13 4 months ago 2
@ThePoisond god gave moses the 10 commandments.... these rules are prevelent in our lives as of now...* no matter what religeon you are in,,, these rules are common sense
crystalys420 6 months ago
@crystalys420 They are, and I realize this. But I doubt some of them should be considered just common sense. The rule for adultery would argue that there should not be such a thing as "sister wives." While I personally could never live that lifestyle myself, I don't see why someone else should be unallowed to live theirs based off their own beliefs and ideals. Although, the ten commandments make sense for a reason-- they are made to appeal to human logic in one way or another.
