  • @Sodwise Sorry you are incorrect. Our muscle memory can react much faster then 200ms If we couldn't then a baseball batter wouldn't be able to hit a fast ball. A typists wouldn't be able to type 60 words a min. Playing a banjo would be impossible What you are mistakenly referring to cognitive reaction time not muscle memory reaction time A Model pilot only uses cognitive reaction time when learning how to fly Once you learn how to fly you start using Muscle Memory which is considerably faster.

  • @Blaze1024 Get a stopwatch and start/stop it as quickly as possible. You will get about 150ms from just trying to press a button as quickly as possible. Don't kid yourself that you need a response time of <10ms. If people are flying from muscle memory then its a stupid competition, there should be an assault course of sorts that changes every year or the 3d stunts have to range between markers etc. Just twiddling sticks as fast as possible isn't talented. Which is why 6 year-olds do so well.

  • @Blaze1024 NO! you are wrong. A baseball-batter sees the ball from a distance. Experience gives rise to being able to predict the trajectory and the time to start swinging the bat. It is lots practice that gives that experience. Which is why curved-balls are used because it is much harder to predict flight-path. What is the flight-time of the ball? >400ms?

  • @Blaze1024 A typist has 8 fingers. The average word is less than 8 letters. 8 separate fingers pressing buttons within 1 second, is different from *1* finger pressing a button 8 times in a second. I doubt that you can physically type 8 of the same characters in second with just one finger, and that's pressing a button. An RC controller uses sticks controlling potentiometers. 50ms is fine, it's basically 1/20th of a second. There is no way you can press a button more than 20 times in a second.

  • @Blaze1024 In any case 1/8 sec = 125ms for the typist which is over twice as long as the 50ms for the transmission; and that's using 8 fingers almost simultaneously. This means that the RC controller is able to keep up with the changes made by the operator. Of course you could argue that this is in addition to the 150ms it takes to physically react, but then its not really about flying any more, its about who can wiggle the sticks the fastest; the flying becoming irrelevant.

  • @Blaze1024 Actually it doesn't matter if the 50ms is added to the time it physically takes to alter the stick-position unless servo-speed from one through to another is less than 50ms. I would be grateful if you could provide me with a type of flying where sub 50ms is actually necessary.

  • Has the potentiometer variance-problem been sorted with the higher-range A to D converter yet?

If I was to buy an Aurora 9 tomorrow would it be OK, or is there still the possibility that I would have to send it off to be fixed?

  • Nice radio to bad its also one of the slowest new radios on the market combine that combined with the fact that it only has 7 point pitch curves and no mixing curves for p-mix's means it's a deal breaker for me. Telemetry is a nice fluff feature, again the deal breaker is its proprietary and not open source. Over all its a nice sport radio unfortunately its high latency numbers and lack of high performance pitch and p-mix curves makes it a deal killer for any real serious helicopter use.

  • Who the hell can tell the difference between 50ms and 7ms? LOL. Computer-Games have a screen refresh- rate of only 60 frames per second. A millisecond is 1/1000 of a second! A persons reflex-reactions are about 200ms. Get a stopwatch. Start and stop it as quickly as possible (The stopwatch will use hundredths of a second). The time you get is how long it physically takes to react, much quicker than reaction-time combined.

Which radios have more than 7 point-pitch curves?

  • @Blaze1024 Sorry, but your arrogance makes you look stupid! The shitty thing about the Hitec Aurora 9 is that you have to *BUY* an "Hpp-22" to update your radio's firmware. (The only reason to update is if the existing firmware isn't doing its job properly, essentially you have to pay more money to fix your radio). The potentiometer issue is a rookie mistake but forgiveable . They assumed that all potentiometers were alike and didn't account for manufacturing-tolerances.

  • The DX8 will be a fine radio but it is not at the same level as the Aurora as far as features and technology. You need an add on device the size of just our RX in order to have telemetry where voltage telemetry is built in the Hitec RX's. You'll also be able to add telemetry for (4) temps, (2) RPM's, Fuel, and GPS for Speed and Altitude. The DX8 will be limited to one temp and one RPM.

  • @ManiacMikeM I'm stuck between the Aurora 9 and the DX8. Can the Hitec Rx's monitor both flight pack voltage and Rx pack voltages? Also can it display them individually on the screen and does the Aurora have both sound and vibraition alarms? So far the only thing preventing me from getting the Aurora is that I'm familiar with JR programing and I would not have the option to buy BNF planes from Parkzone products. lol I'm just puzzled as to how the telemetry differs from the Aurora and DX8.

  • sould i get one of these or wait for the dx8?

  • wow that's pretty cool

  • this is a realy ugly finger

  • It's closer to the JR 11X minus the two additional channels.

  • is this better than the spektrum dx 7 or 8?

  • is the timer that shows how long the trans been on just for each model memory or does it keep track of total for all the driffrent model memory's?

  • good walkthrough.....im buying one tomorrow.thanks

  • Deffo buying this system look amazing and its touch screen too. SWEET!!!!!
