I believe this play was bases loosely on a news article about a british boy that blinded like 5 horses. They created the story of his fetish and the religious background of it. They then put it in the story of a psychiatrist who is trying to understand him.

a boy Alan, played by daniel. who have a fetish for horses in a religious way. he sees the horse like gods. he rides with them naked. after he had sex with a girl in the place where the kept the horse. the horses got angry and jealous, because he...cheated on them?? but the horses being jealous and stuff its all in his head, so he begged for forgivnes, but the horse keep staring at him. so he paniced, and to escape the stares. he blinded them all.

@Tanizdeman As depressing, deep and visually captivating that sounds I still don't get why there is comical moments through out the play :/ on all the clips I have scene, most of them at some point have the audience laughing. Equus looks powerful and very VERY good, but I don't think captivating deep stuff works with comical aswell, I would prefer it if it was one or the other, never the less it does look good, not for the actors, but for the whole concept of the play.

Equus is based on a true story where a sick English kid really blinds 6 horses within his community and a play was made about it in the mid 70's. I think it's a very disturbing story and would bother me with bad dreams.

hm if u say that the problem is that he has a lot of fans who are children you should also say that childrens are not alowed to watch equus. so whats the problem then if they do not see him in equus. the thing that a lot of people are simply jealos of him. I like him as an actor very much and this is only art. and even if he is naked in that play its not daniel radcliffe its the hero who daniel radcliffe plays and who is naked.

I have no idea why Radcliff is getting any negative press for this. He has fans who are children. Okay, and? He should limit an incredible play, his art, because children like him? Christ, he's in a movie where people are murdered left and right and kids are flocked to see it, but he's *gasp* naked and it's a problem? what are you talking about? Daniel is not Harry Potter, he's DANIEL, and he's an ACTOR. And as an actor he has the right to do ANY play that he wants, naked or not, having a "played" orgasm or not. Because this is FICTION, and that is what films and theatre is about. And anyway, this is ART and if you say this is because probably you don't understand it. But you don't have to, because art is irrational, this is "art for the art" and you shouldn't judge it. Dan has demonstrated he's a great actor

*Sigh* Okay, the play "Equus" was around long before Daniel Radcliffe was even born! I love Dan just as much as the next guy, but Alan Strang has been played by many talented actors (this, by the looks of it, being one of them). I'm getting tired of reading everywhere "Where's Dan? I want Dan!" Sheesh, people. Look at the play, not the actors...

Very true. He is a very talented actor but by no means is he Harry Potter. He PLAYED Harry Potter and it is just unfair to Daniel as an actor.. Look at the pre-sale for this play and the reviews from "real" fans-this is not Harry Potter! His first kiss was graphic! Well, it is NOT Harry Potter perhaps you should do some research on a play before you fly halfway across the globe to see it.

Sadly, I couldn't fully see Wes(as you say he is in the clip there) perform but just the voice quality in his performance was extreme, intense and awe inspiring. Keep up the good work! I'm so envious that you have such a good company that can pull off something as weird as this play is!

Equus is actually quite an amazing piece of art and well worth watching/reading...with or without dan. Dan is an amazing actor- And its sad that so many people are watching the play only to see him nude, instead of to appreciate his gifts in acting and the dynamics his character adds to this awesome play.

as a side note- I believe peter shaffer is the best playwright of the century- amadeus is another of my favs :P
