Hit and runs are ok, but bear attacks are terrible. Since there are not that many bears in the woods these days; when they are gone, what will be the latest news story sensation? Hopefully they build a 400 lane highway to avert another bear attack on this important 'family'. And they should build a 500 storey hospital, and build a military base nearby as well. An anti-tank round should easily kill this dangerous bear. But an atomic warhead may be needed too. Do it soon ! Or we'll all die !

Let's be real, they don't ONLY attack because they feel threatened like alot of people claim. They attack humans because they want to eat us. Bears stalk humans sometimes, and in the wild, when you stalk something it means you see them as prey.

yes there a documentary, look it up. He was mauled while his tape was still rolling. His screaming was being recorded while the bear tored him apart in his final moments.

Why do people go into the woods without a gun to protect yourself ? Im from Pennslvania and we dont have Grizzlys here but if so I would not go in the woods without my 500 Smith & Wesson pistol !!
Bears attack because they feel their turf is threatened. By playing dead a person is no longer percieved as a threat. Of course they will continue to paw and bite until they are sure. Many survivors have said that the worst part wasn't the pain, but hearing the crunching sounds.

I have lived in California, the 'Bear Flag' state, all my life and have spent alot of time in the mountains, but I have yet to see a bear in the wild. Have not seen any mountain lions either, but I have tracked them.
I guess that's a good thing. Pumas have killed a few people. What do they say, carry a stick, yell show your teeth rise your arms over your head and don't run away.

I don't know about showing teeth, but make noise, make yourself appear larger and back away calmly. DO NOT STARE!!!
I one time saw the aftermath of a man attacked by a Brown Bear in Naknek Alaska. His head was actually missing from his torsoe. We had been warned to take taxi's from the city dock into town as the road went past the garbage dump and going on foot was hazardous. He decided to save the $12 dollars and walked anyhow.
