Such a beautiful song. Requested to sing this song at both my children's baptisms. A wonderful reminder that God will always be with us. God bless you. Such wonderful voices.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (Jan. 10), we sang this as the Hymn of the Day, because an infant girl was baptized and today is The Baptism of Our Lord. It is #732 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. In Dec. 1992, I attended a worship service (Ebenezer, Columbia) which was led by the writer & composer of this hymn, John C. Ylvisaker.
As a church musician who has played this for every occasion, it seems, I'm not a big fan of the hymn. But having said that, this is a wonderful rendition of it, one of the best I've ever heard. Great arrangement, and I would be curious who did the arranging.
Very well done, and the singing by the choir is excellent. Excellent tone and control, not forced and the harmonies are very nice. Also, the use of piano is great, this hymn does not work well on the organ.
Oue director usually does something funny if we are all really serious, he does this to lighten up the mood. He is an absolutly amazing man and director.
@physicsfullness I remember HS choir; we were in the middle of a performance when the power cut out and we lost the microphones. Our conductor got us singing well at a higher volume just in time for the power to come back on, so we had to back off the volume. This happened about five times and as the lights came on one of the last times, he made the goofiest face at us. How we kept singing was beyond me.
We sang this at my dad's memorial service on October 17/2009. I made the pastor promise he wouldn't put it before I stood up to talk, because if he did, I would probably be crying. He kindly put it right before the sermon, after I'd done my stuff and the Scripture lessons had been read.
A great rendition of a song that was basically written about me by my papa! Thanks!

It's me, again. And this is to all denominations: If Psalm 139 is read at your service, this is a good hymn to use to that particular scripture.

I'm a former soprano soloist, and I chose this especially for my mother's funeral as well, Scott.
Beautiful angelic voices; thank you so much for sharing this.
