@flurfig what are a person that will never join the armed forces. i am going to when im 18 and from with all my family background war is hell. he took it to far? or is it really cuz you cant take the truth? this song is great
Only Americans would not notice the gall and putridity of this song. They smile through their overly white teeth and think how great America is...regardless of anything.
(continued from last comment) He starts to lose hope but then an angel appears telling him not to worry, he'll make it. And he laughs and crys at the fact that his child is being born on Christmas, in Bethlehem, PA. I'm telling you about this because I have been unable to find it on Youtube or any other streaming site. Why is that? Does anybody know? Did people find it a terrible song and never upload it?
I want to know something. I heard one Jefferson Pepper song on the radio a few times. It's a christmas song called Bethlehem, PA. It's a story told by a trucker who was forced to work early christmas morning, he stops at a weigh station and calls his pregnant wife, who tells him that she is going into labor. He immediatly turns the truck around to head back, with only a single star to guide him. As he gets close, a red light appears on his dashboard indicating he has a problem.
amazing to see people still viewing and commenting on this. this touches my heart and invokes a tear for all the american solidiers risking thier lives, away from their loved ones.
Song titles are not something that can be legally copywritten. Which is fortunate, really. Otherwise we would have only one song called "Breathe" instead of at least six.
I actually don't like this song. But I refuse to say something mean about the guy who wrote or performed it. I am sure he would not like stuff I like.
making songs like this is not patriotic. it may be helpful to the american soldiers but it was made with zero regard for the iraqis/muslims. how dare they sing a christmas song on occupied muslim land?!? just goes to show how fucked up americans are. totally oblivous to the feelings and cultures of other people.
1st off the song was not sung in iraq, it was recorder in good ole usa, it was just about the iraq war. and christmas is a figurative term mening a time to give and the song shows Jeffs view of what we "gave" iraq. We gave them a raw deal, jeff is compassionate towrd the civilian iraqis. And as for the soldier this is about he is the best patriot i know. He will fight but only after he makes every attempt for negotiating peace. you confuse patriotism with the red neck kill em all mentality
people im a Canidian and i think this song is a revloution if 10 ppl agree with me than im will create a group on facebook. if u agree than message me acrose you-tube
Jeff this is dave I would liek to say after hearing it for the first dozen and a half times it never gets old.
To all the people who feel that this is a "Campaign and were winning." I would like to sell you beach front propert in colorado. A person has to be blind to think we are winning a fight that can't be one. You can't stop a terrorist group By killing them. Then their families will take their place. It is a viciouse Cycle. and one we shouldn't even be a part of.
The truth hurts. You are not the only ones living in this world and someday you will awake from your dream and see that the people with the most freedom is the one with less.
I feel for this soldier, if this is what he feels. However, we did not go to Fallujah to "win their hearts and minds" and we DID get most of the civilians out of the city. The enemy ruled Fallujah. They were killing our guys. We feel terrible about any innocents hurt or killed in combat. But remember, those killed were killed in a battle with monsters that TARGET innocent people. Iraq is NOT a war. It is a CAMPAIGN in a war on terrorism. And we are winning.
This war is about oil, revenge for a father's failure and fat contracts for ridiculously rich people who don't respect our country and it's people. The Bush camp is manipulating your fear to carry a completely different agenda than what they say it's about. Time to think for yourself and take the country back to leading the world because we stand for what is right.
I think a lot of the viewers misunderstand what the song is saying! In this country if anybody starts talking about the troops you get people reflexively giving us "God Bless America", but the song is clearly saying what America has done in Iraq doesn't deserve God's blessing. And in no way does this particular war defend my "freedom"!
Dear David, and to all the Davids still in Iraq, thanks for serving our country. Thanks for being a patriot, too, and saying what the US is doing in Iraq doesn't make sense. It's time to change course and bring our soldiers home, while they can still marry their high school sweethearts. It's time for all of us to stand up and fight for what is right.
Very well done Way to go Jefferson Pepper for the great tune & Lisa for putting together this fabulous video Thank you to ALL THE SOLDIERS for giving me the freedom to enjoy this from my home May you all arrive home safely to enjoy the freedom you have worked so hard to protect GOD BLESS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
this is one of the most touchig clips i have ever seen, god bless america and thier brave and loyal troops, god bless them and thier families, and let all know that god is with us. if you read this please bow your heads n prayer for the ones who are not at home, and who never will be again. i am tearing up as i write this, god bless america!
I am glad you found it touching, it was meant to touch the heart and I will say a prayer for for all those who have lost a loved one. If i may ask though, why did you rate it a -1 if it was such a touching clip?
This is an excellent representation of the mixed emotions that the troops must feel as they try to do their job and represent their country. The video and song capture the sadness that all the troops must feel.
Thanks you. I Know David's story is shared by many of the soldiers....It was difficult to try fit all of the mixed emotions he felt into 4 minutes.. made a my heart goes out to all the service members, and I wish they all come home soon. Lisa, producer & David's Mom
It makes me cry, but shouldn't we all be in tears by now? Bring the troops home NOW, take care of them when they get here and give the Iraqi people their country back, with a big fat check of guilt.
I might be able to clarify. You may notice the little "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" icons next to the individual comments. Those reflect other posters' ratings of the comment itself, not of the video. The way it works, you can't use the "thumbs" icons to rate your own comment. So that -1 is somebody else's rating of ay4codepink's comment, not ay4codepink's rating of the video.
(And for the record, ay4codepink, I agree with you.)
Thanks, that helps a lot. I have done DVD videos before but this was my first UTUBE request. So If i fell short somewhere i wanted to know so that I can address it and or fix it
How true. We tend to forget the iraqi people, and that is what we fought for. I want the best of both worlds...Our troops home and an Iraq that is free from terror and provides a safe society where children grew up to learn how to better leaders.
@aam62297 great song. thank you for you time and being there!!!(:

But to make it clear (and I'm guessing ay4codepink meant it in this way too), that guilt is for our policy makers, not for the troops such as David.
