It was good to hear. I can't believe they are only third section. Really sinks in the level of quality of Scottish bands. We have had quite a few videos done too, most notably the performance of the area test piece from the most recent area championships, resurgam. I have listened to it many a time and everyone that heard us said we should have won by a mile, however the adjuticators deemed it only good enough for 10th. So we have a lot to do in the coming few months with the new test piece
I agree with you.. its marked Andante, and it is the fasterest I have heard it played! Oddly though I don't find that a problem at all on listening again;, nor did the adjudicator (Bob Childs) at the Contest this performance formed a part of, as they came 3rd! Yes, it's a British band, from Warwickshire in England,they are currenlty 3rd section, and sound decent for that level. Other pieces are also on this site, as are one or two other band's performances from various sections of that contest.
Well played and a great piece. However I personally have one criticism about the way it was played - tempo. Some of the tempo's were 2 or 3 times faster than they should have been. Also, I'm assuming this is a British brass band and if so, can someone tell me what section they are? I really would like to know as I play with a band in the 2nd section in Scotland and feel that this is is similar to other bands in our section here.
New video has appeared on the channel, it looks like we were right, the standard is good for the section - they have won a contest!
