Your tone is very bad it is almost jazzy:), you should play more relaxed, at the start, as that mistake or it is written in notes, and the low tones are very hard played, your vibrato is very similar to flutes vibrato witch is wrong on sax, and you are playing with no felling.
Ahahahah. This is the most hilarious post I've ever seen. You must not know anything about saxophone. Can you tell me exactly how he is doing vibrato? Do you know for sure he is using a throat vibrato or are you just making a random assertation? And even if he were, who cares? If it sounds good, use it.
And that mistake at that big smear into the altissimo is part of the written music.
16 years old? Good lord. That's some serious talent. My sax professor played this for his recital. I can't imagine having played this almost 4 years ago. I was just starting to get serious with sax then.
Very well done. Nice altissimo and technique. You could be more musical and continue to work on altissimo control. You're a good player and I hope you go far.
I'm not much of a judge in the best of times, just a fellow saxophonist, and there's nothing I could think of to say to that other than that its spectacular! Great work!
seems a little quick/rushed for the style to me. your tongue is truly world class but I'm not convinced you can really "jive" to this. I'd love to hear this relaxed just a tiny bit so i could really get into the flow.
Fabulous! Especially for being 16 at the time of the performance! Truly amazing. I would say to slow down just a tad...but just a tad. I think for the most part, you really understood the lyricism of Yoshimatsu, I felt like in the slower, middle section, you didn't allow the notes enough time...it was still a truly breathtaking performance!
SLOW DOWN!!!!!! You can play notes.. and you can play them with good technique... but what about the CONTEXT of the music you are playing? Isn't that where the MUSIC is??? Not saying this wasn't good. I am a saxophonist as well and went through college playing these contemporary pieces. Never lose sight of the MUSIC.. Great job man!
Definitely well played, you indeed have a very good grasp of the horn. Good tone, and everything. My only comment of constructive criticism might be that at times it may have been even TOO fast. The only reason I think of this, is that the piece is supposed to portray a bird, and in the opening part, the Mortons (I believe... the little trill sounding spots) were fast to the point where the bird would have almost been frantic.
Amazing tone and sound! Sounds like Nobuyo Sugawa. I really need to learn this!
