@m16mang Hi I think it comes down to personal preference, its very difficult to pick one of these, they are all excellent in their own right. I guess compact knife would be a F1, mid size, good as an all rounder, the S1 and larger, more inertia, the A1.
What a decision....Honestly I like them both, I guess if you like a larger knife with a bit more weight the S1 would be the way to go, but if you want compact and weights an issue, then the F1. The blade shape of the F1 probably makes that slightly better as a hunting knife, but its marginal.
Difficult choice. Both are good allrounders, I guess it comes down to if you want the extra weight/length of the A1 (better chopping etc) or the more compact S1(better fine work). In reality both are top knives and both would do the job of an outdoor knife equally well.
What a crock? Fallkniven is a swedish knife company that that sells knives made in Japan!! What kind of bull is this!! Let's get real! Don't buy Fallkniven or VG-10. How about a Enzo Trapper blank in D2 for $65.00 much better deal!
You do a brilliant job presenting, very personable and relatable. Not a sales pitch from a salesman but more of a outdoor enthusiast wanting to share his toys. Well done!
@aseglkj hillbilly warning - cold war is over, that means that just because you don't agree with something america says does not mean you're a communist.. oh yeah btw, canada rocks!
I prefer leather sheaths...but the leather sheath they show on this knife has no strap around the handle or anything, would this be bad? I don't want to spend so much money on a knife and loose it because it doesn't stay in it's sheath.
@ColonelFrank07 I have had a S1 for a couple of years now. The sheath is quite a deep fit but has loosened over time. Im planning to make a new one, pity though beautiful leather on the original one. Cannot fault the knife, butcher a deer from start to finish still shaving sharp!
Stainless steels aren't a good choice for hard use because they chip easily. Carbon is much better for hard use. Check out BLUNTRUTH4U's videos on Youtube on his steel choices.
Not sure i agree with you there. Never had a Fallky chip on me and my preference is for stainless, particularly laminate stainless for all my outdoor/hunting knives.
Thanks for not deleting my comment. Shows integrity. But type "Fallkniven A1 test" as a Youtube search, and you'll find at least two tests of the A1. Both testers chipped the blades fairly easily. Read the comments too, and check out BLUNTRUTH4U. I'm commenting for buyer's awareness.
Secondly, you have to consider that in northern climates a) rust is a big deal: water won't run off your sheath, it will freeze to the blade and make frost.
b) the only situation you will see Fallkies chipping on youtube videos is accidental contact with rocks embedded in the soil.
In more northern climates that isn't a problem.
That doesn't mean that you can't use a Fallkniven in southern climates:their blades are excellent and will always give you better cutting just be carefull around soil
watched one of those 'destruction' videos. The A1 came out pretty good!. Never imagined a knife would go through that much.Seems he rates it over all others. Might watch some more, though make me wince watching some guy smash up a beautiful knife like that...
Are they made japan

Would you say the S1 is the model in between the A1 and F1? In terms of size, style, and purpose of use/capabilities?
m16mang 3 months ago
Get a F1 or a S1, you will not regret it.
I had my F1 in use for 15years and still going strong.
The Swedes know how to make knifes...

@aseglkj Canada isn't so fond of us because of arrogant fuckers like you. You give Americans a bad name

@braxtonamour oh yeah? why don't you go live there? commie.

@aseglkj Because I like owning a Remington 870 with minimal regulation. Comes in handy when uneducated deviants stroll through my part of town.

There are not many reviews of the S1 compared to the A1 why is that?
the S1 is more compact and lighter than the A1

check out the fallkniven destruction test on a youtuber's channel called noss4. you will see why these knives are probably the best out there.

Does that come convexed like the f1 does?

Hi
Yes it does, full convex blade. The combination of the convexion and that VG10, holds a great edge.

SOG pop elite
Fallkniven S1. A2
for everyday, emergency / survival. Which one is the best?

I would put the Fallknivens above the others, the S1 would be an excellent choice, or of you like a bigger knife, the A1.

888zzz,
you have to be carefull of group thinking.
Just because Blunt has an opinion, it doesn't mean that you have to follow it.
Whenever choosing a knife, be aware of what you will use it for, and where.
Fallkies are designed for northern climates, no exposed tang to stick to you, and very hard frozen wood to go through.
typical less hard higher carbon steels will blunt quicker when going through these woods, you have no choice: you need a harder blade.

Fallkniven VG10/3G steels are the best in the world. Cut a carbon knife in half and still not chip!!!!!...or rust!!!!
