Pretty simple rule - no phones allowed in meetings or in classrooms. Ensures everyone pays attention. Especially classrooms - seriously the kid should be focusing on what is going on in class. If they are caught using their mobile - instant confiscation. In meetings - if it goes off or you are seen on your phone then you either get a warning or get fired. Why is that so hard to implement? Common courtesy has clearly gone out the window these days so rules like these need to be brought in.

I text most of the time...I can text the whole day! But I learn to control it! I don't use it in class. I don't use it when I am at a party unless its important. I don't text during meals because its rude and I know it. For me, texting is just like calling a person but you just get a very pain thumb if you text to much...

i see, but how i mark stupidity though is that someone has knowledge of something, and chose not to follow whatever guidelines to said knowledge. on a side note about my opinion about texting, yeah nothing's really wrong with it. It can be an annoying process though if you don't have a phone with a keypad. Your statement is not totally true. Us men do have higher insurrance rates because we tend to be in more accidents. But that's because we drive 5 times MORE than women on average. Facts say it. Look it up. Plus, ask most driver education instructors, ask them about their students. Most teachers that I have known and talked to say that the men, most of the time, do better than the women on the road driving test. They say that women tend to be the most oblivious to their surroundings.
Why should you be allowed to text at school? I text most of the time...I can text the whole day! But I learn to control it! I don't use it in class. I don't use it when I am at a party unless its important. I don't text during meals because its rude and I know it. For me, texting is just like calling a person but you just get a very pain thumb if you text to much...

Heres what i think about it. Text Messaging should only be done when you have the time for it whenever you have time for it and more importantly for emergency use. People just get obsessed with texting like they cant just turn off or wait till the right time to text. I prefer comming home from work or school sit down in my room text and do my home work while listening to music. No hazards or risks just a solemn silence with me myself and I. Doesnt it sound nice? gamers will write in text form to eachother using the same keyboard for comm. as they do for 'driving' (playing their game). now, i know in a game youre in no real danger and in a car its life or death but hows this - something can go wrong in a game w/ less warning than while driving (this is actually true since in videogames, there can be no warning while in the real world theres almost always a warning). gamers rarely fail to exit the comm. and fix situations in-game, we'd do fine in a car

@venuecam Yes, regulation exists because individual can't be ethical and responsible on their own. Human nature is highly corruptible, and people could just be respectful to the teacher or the person conducting the meeting on there own hypothetically, but human nature is not like that in my opinion. People need rules and regulations to stay within the guidelines.

food is good and important to stay healthy but too much can be bad or the wrong kinds can make you sick... in the same way too much texting or in bad places (like class or meetings or other places where it shouldn't be) then it becomes bad, but texting in general can be a good thing, just a way to stay in contact and know what's going on. basically if you can control yourself its good (more and more people can't these days but thats a whole other topic)

i see, but how i mark stupidity though is that someone has knowledge of something, and chose not to follow whatever guidelines to said knowledge. Like someone was taught that a red light means stop, but regardless they went right through and hit a car. where as an example of ignorance, by common definition(and in most dictionaries), would be that someone saw a red light and had never been told or came across information that says red light means stop, and they went through and hit a car.

personally though i think it should be re-defined, since the root word of ignorance is ignore, which would mean someone deliberately rejects information, so when something happens they actually would be at fault because they ignored info provided to them. -shrugs- but what can you do. besides if they did re-define it then what word could be used for someone who simply wasn't provided with information they needed.

on a side note about my opinion about texting, yeah nothing's really wrong with it. It can be an annoying process though if you don't have a phone with a keypad. What i'm not that fond of though is that people (mostly girls) like to have entire conversations and discussions via texting, which i personally think is a bit dumb. not trying to offend anyone but i dont want to spend 10+ seconds texting what i could say in 1 second (as far as short things go like "Maybe Tomorrow")

only exception being if you're in a position where you can't talk, then fine it makes sense. I've had moments where I'm somewhat busy and I get a text "hey whats up" and of course i respond back a few times, but then i'll ask if they're busy and they say no so I call them. and then i get asked why i called, the person is just silent, and i eventually end up hanging up and they start texting again lol wtf

I dont feel like googling statistics to support myself, but from what I've seen in my short life, majority of people that text while driving are 16-30 year old woman, maybe 35s who still are trying desperately hold on to their 20s.

Your statement is not totally true. Us men do have higher insurrance rates because we tend to be in more accidents. But that's because we drive 5 times MORE than women on average. Facts say it. Look it up. Plus, ask most driver education instructors, ask them about their students. Most teachers that I have known and talked to say that the men, most of the time, do better than the women on the road driving test. They say that women tend to be the most oblivious to their surroundings.

My school does forbid use during class (even though no one listens to them, they're too busy texting). If our attendance is good enough they'll let us use them during lunch or in the hallways. Every time I see someone get caught, I'm the kid laughing the loudest.
