the corn grown for food is grown with the intent of creating a crop thats edible and void of parasites. corn grown for fuel is grown with the speed and quantity in mind, not quality. dont mix the two up. i wouldnt use it as food even for animals. with all the chemicals used on the fuel corn, the land is contaminated for generations.

they only use the starch. how much starch do we really need? now if the protein was lost during the making of ethanol then i would change my opinion on ethanol. but it isn't. nothing goes to wast. we do need to learn to manage our land better. that is why i think they should legalize industrial HEMP. way more fuel per acre and if their is 25000 different uses for it than their should be millions of ways to make money from it. i can think of many different uses for INDUSTRIAL HEMP.

Corn isn't the only possible source of Ethanol. Sugarcane is maybe even a better soure. Sugarcane is indeed such a competetive source of Ethanol that the U.S. increased tarrifs on it. Food prices are going up because the dollar is going down not because corn is being used as Ethanol. p.s. Grass fed animals taste better than corn fed animals, that is if you enjoy eating animals.

Its a byprodict of a byproduct. Its something that would be tossed away if it wasn't used for fuel. And the ethinal in fuel could be higher and make fuel prices drop while increasing fuel preformance. Why is it always the target for food shortage arguments?

Ethanol is just plain STUPID! The way forward is to make biogas with ANAEROBIC DIGESTERS. Then gas (& I do NOT mean PETROL) powered vehicles can run on biomethane which is a gas from bio-waste products. Look up Anaerobic Digester. They have entire public transport systems running on biogas in Sweden & Germany. Wake up America ethanol is NOT the way forward.
