Uh, no. I for one would certainly not wish to spray large amounts of ether around MY FACE. Hairsprays use propane/butane, or other chemicals, but they DO NOT use ether.
i have the same except i made it out of a larger trash can,took me two weeks to make it go through a car,got arrested but they never found the cannon,what do you use as fuel,i use nitrogen and diesel,made a huge exlosion,my friend said he heard it 1 mile away.
i want to build a cannon but i plan to build one that needs a base with wheels to move it in other words i want the biggest bad ass cannon i can build. my friend wants to modify a real cannon he got at a gun show
You have misunderstood! Gas flies upwards, so you can't have an open hole on the top of the cannon and light it with a match, and hope it's gonna work properly!
u bet. it's ffreaking huge, and when loaded properly (unlike this vid) it will fige a couple hundered meters, (well it cleared one end of a footy feild from the other).
it wasnt a good shot, the ammo wasnt wedged in properly. meaning it only fired about 50 meters. when it wrorks it really works well. will post a good vid soon

Bjornes2, most of the gasses that get used for potato cannons are heavier than air.
The reason hairspray works so well is that they use propane, and/or butane as a propellant. Both are heavier than air.
thyringmaster, grab yourself some 12" sch80 PVC sewer pipe. You'll have to order the fittings through McMaster Carror somewhere, though.
