Wait, Resident Evil was supposed to be a Survival-HORROR game. Zombies, Lickers, (probably Hunters) and Tyrants have taken a backseat to this shit (the monsters will be annoying that's for sure, because you're going to be busy killing other people who are trying to kill you).

Humans trying to kill other humans with zombies, dogs, lickers, and Tyrant thrown in. This is ACTION-Horror, and that's not what Resident Evil is. "Real" Resident Evil, the one we grew up with, was horrifying because you're trying to survive, hence the name of the genre: Survival Horror.

The PS1 RE games' success as far as gameplay style was largely due to the technical limitations of that time; they were complementary. This isn't those, no one who matters has said they were. The fall of Raccoon City has potential beyond rehashing the same game out over and over again, this is the next attempt at it.

I thought Resident Evil 4 was the start of something new, it didn't deviate too much from the aspect of being "scary", while bringing out a fresh new style. Even RE: Outbreak brought something new to the series. A game is rewarding when it requires you to think and not only react. Well, I guess that's something that got lost in this generation.

@DubReno this is a series spinoff, showing the Umbrella side of things. if you know about the backstory of Resident Evil, this is what Umbrella did after the Raccoon City incident. they sent these special forces in to eradicate any evidence of Umbrella's involvement. which means shooting the shit out of everyone and everything.

Resident Evil 6 is supposed to go back to the survival horror roots, which will be good because that won't be a spinoff

Nonetheless, it was just a rumor, but here's to hoping they go back to the survival horror roots in the next story iteration of the series.

Now if only the game looked like this. I've seen many game play videos and the mechanics are pretty much Socom with Zombies. Clunky character movements, lame AI, and weak sound effects, all cloaked with "Resident Evil" to sell it.

Don't get me wrong, I love Resident Evil...but the game is Socom with an RE name. Cute.
