Have always loved Purple and was lucky enough to see them in 1972 at The Dome in Brighton during their Machine Head world tour from which the classic 'Made in Japan' album came. The live version of Highway Star on that album is my all time favourite Purple track (especially Ritchie's solo) and you, my friend, have captured it completely in this brilliant clip, well done and thankyou.

surely, the made-in-japan solos are great throughout, the best live album ever, and I'm already sure Jun is the best to cover Blackmore solos, no doubt. but remember, Blackmore played this version only _once_, and he never rehearsed it, he improvised it! Sure, he could not repeat it if you asked him, but he would play something different, but also great. That's the real reason why he is my favourite.

@narodnividakwell im not jun626, but i think i might be able to help. judging on the fact that you are watching this video i am to assume that you listen to rock. you can get fair priced non american made fender stratocasters for 2 to 5 hundred. also for the same price range you can get epiphone les pauls. both of which offer great rock and roll tone and harmonics.

Well, I think, the Made In Japan Versions of "Smoke On The Water", "Highway Star" etc. are really the state of art - of Deep Purple... The way you played it - yes, you nailed it! (though the Guitarsound you've chosen is not supporting, indeed...) Very inspired from the original- and though no one is Blackmore (and trust me, this is not realy bad - personally :) - this is the way it should sound and feel like... Great!

I tryed the given amp settings with a marshall mg100hdfx. My start has the lace sensor golds. It is not bad tone. I thought at first that the high gain would mess up the sound but due to the low treble and bass setting it is good. I added some more treble though and changed the dly to reverb. Yet your sound is more edge-y than mine.
