I love my M1 Garand. It may have been manufactured in 1942, but it can still put those 30.06 cal bullets in a nice human heart grouping at 400 yrds. Thank you Springfield for making such an amazing rifle. I will cherish it till the day I die! God bless America and the 2nd Amendment to our US Constitution! And may Obama and his anti-gun cronies all go to Hell!
Watching the movie w/ the GF, and said "cool an M1" She says how do you know, you cant even see it? Dont need to, just seen how he loaded it, plus he's Korean war, makes sense! Funny stuff.
@sondreus24 from what i know they didn't really start useing helecopters for troop assult untill vietnam. in korea helicopters were mainly scouts and rescue.
The way he picked it up, locked the bolt, inserted the 8 round clip, let the bolt fall on the follower, and then drive it home was breathtaking. It shows how a trained military person from the M1's time period could have that kind of fluid motion. Clint Eastwood was in the army in that time. That was not acting.
Clint Eastwood was too young for action in World War 2.
During Korea, he was on a plane, but it crashed into the Pacific Ocean and he swam 3 miles to shore. They made him the swimming instructor for boot camp after that so he missed out on action in Korea as well.
But I completely agree with you. Soldiers were very well trained and had gut instincts. Soldiers nowadays have too many electronics and gadgets to help them.
Lets not forget. They were trained to be riflemen first. Everything came after that fact. All our boys could shoot. Now it's just a burst of fire in a general area. If I were asked to go over and fight ,and I got to pick which rifle I wanted to carry. I think I would choose the old m1. There's something about that semi-auto .30-06 that just exudes confidence. The M1unlike it's far distant cousin the .223, was designed to kill not maime.
uh...i never said he was in ww2. He served during the korean war but not in it. The M1 served frontline duty untill about 1958. Even then it was still used in training well into the sixties. I think you believe the m1 only saw action in ww2?Probably as a result of the video games you've played. My own M1 is a '53 springfield Which, is post korean war. I ask everyone: WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE INSIST ON POSTING TEXT ON YOUTUBE WHEN THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT?
again, why do you post text about something you know nothing about? Ever heard of basic training? Everyone qualified with the m1 first. It was the frontline weapon. just go back to your video games.
no, you HAVE NO sense. just because you like something doesnt mean you have to have whatever the item may be. Also it doesnt mean i never go to the shooting ranges. think!

@sondreus24 1st Cavalry were mainly typical mobile infantry in Korea, in Vietnam they were still infantry, but just rode into battle in Helocopters.
