@265horse350tq I'm running aftermarket aluminum heads with 64cc chambers and 11:1 compression. The cam I'm running is on a 112 lsa and is a non roller cam. Sure I can throw a bigger cam in but I will lose the torque I need down low. The truck tips the scales at 6600lbs. If I go bigger it will be impossible to tune her to a proper low speed idle and will only run right at wot.
nice gravel road WOT... not.. you can hear the gravel hitting your fenders, also, i hope your temperature gauge is broken, but if its not, lets just call you a retard for WOT a cold motor....
I'm running 55 psi with the vacuum hooked up to the regulator as well. But I'm also running four 65lb hr injectors... A LOT easier to tune with a 4bbl tbi unit. I picked up a solid 60 horse by ditching the 454 tbi unit.
all i know is since this vid...ive added way more cam292 xfi, way more gear (4.56) a full spool, chromoly driveshaft, about 30+hours of datalogging, a 4k stall 9.5" converter with a performabuilt trans. i was hoping for mid 11's if i can feed it enough fuel, and at 30psi fuel pessure with a vacuum reverence hooked up to the regulator to keep it from dieing at idle, and a tune based around that...i get great throttle response and can burn my et streets as good as the cheap radials
Here's for the both of you. Post dyno numbers or an et slip and I'll believe it! Now for saying the 388 doesn't exist, yes it's a 388 and it does exist lmao! 3.80 stroke crank 4.030 bore and 8 cylinders so you do the math. I'm also running aluminum heads that are vortec style with 210 cc runners 1.6 roller rockers and a pollished performer air gap with a 4 bbl tbi unit to top it off. 11.9 1/4 mile. Want more? Call me and I'll tell you how to get even more out of your trucks! 940 654 9854
Funny video. Too bad I know everything about these trucks and youre trying to make it seem more potent than it is. Recalibrate your vssb module so the speedometer is right and stop posting vids like this unless you can back up your claims. My 95 z71 is maxed out with a 388 stroker and a 4 bbl 750 tbi that makes 426 hp 456 ft lbs... And a bigger cam is not possible, trust me, I've done the research and tuning!
@GearheadZ71 I got a burn1 prom burner from moates bitch with an adapter to run it along with my factory memcal and this vid is with the factoy gears so why the hell would i need to recalibrate my speed sensor? You are a whack full of sh!t @ss who obviously doesnt know as much as you can type. jon moss couldnt tell as much as you can though a vid....whats your email ill send you a rant full of documentation and pictures
he isn't using no oldstyle non vortec heads. withs is an l31 block with VORTEC HEADS on 454 intake with injectors.
your "388" don't exist. im sure you mean 383. looks like you don't know what you're talking about. a 383 with vortec heads makes more power than the old style heads pre-96' and have you ever heard of boring into blocks? vortecs and take a little past 500 lift when machined. that's pretty damn good.
All you can get out of your 388 is 426 and you think that's maxed? I'm guessing you still have some vortec heads and some cam with a wide lobe seperation for that tb to run right. Throw a carb on there like a 750 vacuum secondary and cam that bitch I'd run a xe282 and throw on a rpm air gap intake. mill the heads to like 60cc and thin head gasket gets you like 10 to 1 compression assuming you still got the vortecs. You can easily get 550 from that stroker with some AFR 220's.
@265horse350tq for sure,,,,the tbi setup just dosent like duration or overlap for that matter. A carb at this point is necisary. Actually, I will take that back...A fuel system capable of metering and delivering is needed, whether its carb'ed or injected.)
I live in cali, so laws here suck for anything newer than 73. You gotta be slick with what you do. (or plan on swapping every 2 years)
383, with vortechs or sportsman II's, adj fpr, decent cam suited for tbi, thats about all. stout innards
ok first of all the vehicles that come with 10.3.1 compression are all aluminum headed engines to run on pump gas.with vortec heads you need to stay around 9.4.1 compression to use super unleaded or it will ping like hell.get the info right guys.
You are correct. This engine pulled several degrees timing on 93 octane so we switched to torco additives with a 110 blend, full timing with perfect relability. These heads have 54ccmaybe chambers and flat tops. So no you cant run pump. in this little vid it was on pump tho with most likely the maximum amount of spark retard the computer is capable of.
Or you can just install cam with alot of overlap effectivley reducing your cylinder pressure. You can get away with 10 to one on a vortec iron headed motor with a big cam and the strong enought mechanical advance srpings.
Does your truck pass emissons with the carburator intake on it? I am planning on getting the same heads and 54mm tbi for my 88 5.7 tbi and was just going to get the tbi to vortec intake manifold from gm so it will still pass. Truck sounds good man, put up a vid from the outside.
The state Im in has no emmisions tests. Im sure I could tune it enough to pass a tailpipe test but the visual inspection is a no go. Ive deleted egr from the computer completely and it has no air tubes in the exhaust anymore either. on another note has anyone see that new 4 barrel tbi system from motorvation?
got a problem though, my lifters are acting up, and im gettin a mad knock, imma replace the cam and the lifters, any other suggestions? im pretty positive its only the top half but im worried chewed up a crank bearing.?
What heads are you running? And how much lift on the cam? The stock heads can cause problems with the retainer hitting the valve guide. You can have them machined down but better heads arent that expensive and come with good springs
holley makes a 2bbl throttle body with 670cfm direct bolt on replacement for 87-95 tbi chevy's truck there is nothing else for them on less you buy a 4bbl tbi kit and build one yourself.I could be wrong.
I thought the TBI unit on 454's were small bore just like the ones on the 350's,305's and 4.3 but took two fuel two pumps to feed it (just like ford used to do on some of their vehicles in the early 80's)but had bigger injecters then the small blocks did.You must have an aftermarket throttle body. Those stock TBI's big or small block had low cfm for fuel ecomomy
Its a 52mm bored 350 tb. The injectors are 454 that are rated at 96 lb/hr@12psi and they are blueprinted and run at 30 psi with two big aeromotive pumps. planning for a power adder of course because it really has too much fuel right now. Better vids coming
Fuel Injection 12.5:1 is almost common in new vehicles. Most new trucks/cars are 11.1 or 11.5:1, carburated you must be under 10.5:1 for pump gas. The new 6.2L LS3 makes 430HP on 11:1 compression running pump gas. Learn your stuff bro.
typical wanna be know it all kid, rattling off numbers acting like he's been there done that. First of all the LS3 is 10.7:1 compression. Second of all, were not talking about a new vehicle here were talking about a vortec headed 350.......I'm sure you know all the ins and outs of that combination. You might want to do a little research.

replace your alternator, and put some gas in that thing !1 :D
PS guys it hit 5k yea the oem tach says that redline but with a properly built engine redline is probably up around 6k RPM's but i wouldve let it warm up a bit before beating on it..
I will say that the motor does not have 12:1 compression ratio. My 358 I run in my 84 silverado has 12:1 compression ratio and it thumps way harder than that, and I build motors for a living. Other than that wish we could see smoke roll of some tires
it has 54cc chambers with flat tops. i think like 6cc valve reliefs. like you can really hear the thump. the cam does has 113 degree lobe separation that makes it idle better. i am swapping to a 280xfi cam from a 268 right now. If you build motors for a living then you shouldnt have been judging an engines sound through a internet stream...again...54cc chambers+flat tops=lots of compression to be honest i never figured it but you probably know off the top of your head.
Budy my truck has 12:1 compression pistons with 11cc valve reliefs, Brodix racing heads with stainless steel 208 intake 160 exhaust with 230cc Intake ports and a 64cc combustion chamber with a 60 overbore, if you do the math it puts me rite at 12:1 and my engine thumps way harder. If you ran a cam that small in your block it would not run rite at all. The smallest cam you can run in that much motor would be a 284 duration with minimal of .500 lift on the intake and exhaust. I run a 292 in mine
It didnt run right like it should have. it pulled but i felt it running out of steam too early. I ripped out the 268(which did have alot of lift mind you) and replaced it with the xfi 280grind(with like a total of .575 with 1.6 rockers. also put in a performabuilt level 3 4l60e, a 9" 4k stall converter, denny's driveshaft, and 4.56 gears, still finishing it up. there will be more vids.
