  • So this is what perfection sounds like...

  • I'm saying that it helps me get back on track. Beautiful piece of music.

  • It's usually at my worst that I listen to this song. It sends a chill down my spine.

  • One of the most beautiful ballads of the 80's and of all time... I'd loved the Radio Dept. version too!

  • pure magic!

  • great song. the radio dept does a great cover of it.

  • 7 people didn't get enough kisses, bachelor or other.

  • "You'll get hurt if you play with Crooks" ;)

  • How could anyone dislike beauty and perfection like this?

    'Don't believe what you've heard

"Faithful" 's not a bad word'

  • I like Lindey's hair in this... My second favorirte ( like the shorter hair from the early period slightly better). Oh and yes of course great song!

  • omg... this is the first video on youtube where no one is fighting!!! well not much to fight about, great song.

  • great! my best age!!! just 16een in 1984 !!!

  • Only pig bastards could vote dislike.

  • Miss you Grant.................Love you Robert.

  • This guy is/was the Brian Wilson/Graham Nash of Australia.

  • I<3 my Janglechambertweebaroqueindiegarage kid! This is our song!

  • check out 'the radio dept' version (;

  • What a lovely song.

  • Here is a true and weird story - was on holiday Lindos, Rhodes in June '99 with a pal who was reading Bachelor Kisses by Nick Earls... I loaned him my Walkman Pro cassette as had made up compilations...and Bachelor Kisses was playing when he read the line from the book ' I was listening to Bachelor Kisses by the Go Betweens.....' = spooky...or what!?!

  • I think it is a crime that mtv never saw fit to show great bands like the gobetweens here in the usa. so many good bands never had a chance of breaking through over here because we were fed a steady diet of night ranger, quiet riot, reo speedwagon and styx. UGGH!

  • I agree with you on most of that except I have special memories with Reo Speedwagon.

  • @mistomen

You obviously have taste! "the engines running at the gate" who thinks of writing that, what a great poet Grant was, we Brisbanites miss him so and I know many people around the world feel the same. R.I.P. Grant

  • Morrissey wrote something for NME around the time this came out and he reviewed a bunch of songs they gave him to listen to and hated all of them except for this.

  • @starkweather444 Thats funny because the first time i heard this song at amoeba records in LA and i thought it was something I never heard of Morrissey or The Smiths.

  • @starkweather444 Morrissey was just acting the part of the young upstart trying to open up space for himself by cutting down established masters.

  • Presuming it's the same Ana Da Silva, the vocalizing is much sweeter in the background than it ever was on a Raincoats record.

  • Hard to believe that Grant and Rob (Forster) never considered themselves good musiciians.. used to try and palm off licks to each other!! Fab chords and sounds here...

  • Simply a stunning song... with this song The Go-Betweens were on a par with The Triffids... RIP Grant and Dave

  • i never get tired listening to this song over and over, a brilliant song from a brilliant band!!!

  • chills after so many years ... cheers for uploading!

  • I listen to it again, and, God... it's heart-breakingly beautiful.

  • The Radio Dept. made an awesome cover of this song.

Great song! Thank you for uploading!

  • nice to play on guitar; sounds great when you play faster, especially the intro

  • The perfect pop song :)

  • great song! amazing memories just 16een! what a age!!! never end my '80!!!

  • I love this song. Seen them in concert 1983, Nottingham, Rock City

  • Maybe similar feeling as the Pet Shop Boys??

  • The cover made by The Radio Dept. is absolutely brilliant.

  • totally agree!!

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant .

  • the world misses grant-

  • definitely

  • you're absolutely right :(

  • I love this tune.

  • Excellent point on The Ocean Blue- quite a fabulous band. Emotion, melody, non-superficial lyrics are shared alike. The Go- Betweens require patience at times, but the payoff is well worth it. Both bands can contribute to cleaning up air quality- if anyone dares play them on the radio- not quite Radio Gaga.

  • Intro reminds me of "Ballerina Out of Control" by the Ocean Blue. Check THEM out if you don't already know about another cool

    late 80s - early 90s band

  • This is just beautiful - their songcraft, their melody, their youth. I miss these days...

  • getting married next april, this song will be playing as my bride walks down the aisle.

  • A excelent choice for a wedding. Good luck to you two.

  • if FELT got PRIMITIVE PAINTERS....

    the GO-BETWEENS got BACHELOR KISSES

  • i believe you have nailed it !

  • amazing song! bring me baxk to those amazing years!!! just a 17een full of dreams.

    give me back my '80!!!

  • A masterpiece!

    Oh lovely song.

GO BETWEENS always on my mind

  • I'm floating over my seat... amazing song.

  • RIP Grant. Thanks for all the beautiful things

  • One of my favorite songs ever, I swear.

I wish so much that they would be making new records, forever. <3

  • Saw the band a few years ago at the Big Day Out, Melbourne. It was one of the most memorable gigs I have witnessed. So happy to see them perform live. A truly classy act! Best Australian band ever!

  • I remember this song way on back in 1985...

  • Fantastic. Love you Grant and rest in peace buddy.

  • one of the best songs they've ever made. miss ya grant!

  • Utterly gorgeous song, utterly gorgeous band. x

  • Love it. Love them. Thanks.

  • Gourgeous song, by a gifted band. It was criminal that they never became more popular in the states. RIP Grant.

  • One of my favorites songs of my all time favorite band!!!

Thanks i saw them on last tour!

    viva GB´s

  • Never heard this song. It has a weird sense timing in the chorus, but I like it very much. I need to check these guys out. I don't know anything about except that it looks dated.

  • it's from the early 80's.

one of the greatest bands of all time.

criminally underrated but very influential among indie bands.

lead singer grant maclennan died 2 years ago. heart attack.

  • One of my favourite songs ever. Peerless.

  • Utterly beautiful...songs like this just don't exist now

  • They do but they are rare - what about Augie March, they continue producing some exquisite music (albiet tamer of late). Sodastream also did some beautifal stuff until they recently broke up.

  • If You wanna find good aussie indie like the GB's then buy "Write your Adventures Down-A Tribute to the Go-Betweens"

2 CDs of aussie artists performing GB songs, Bob Evans is great, Youth Group is good too.

    Y arriba Alianza!

  • i see a big future for the Go Betweens

  • ???grant is dead...what future?

  • thankfully none

  • thank god....

I have seen them live on stage

  • My all time fav song ever. Miss you Grant, can't believe your gone and your songs are like gems - priceless. A guy whom was sent to boarding school as a young kid after loosing his dad, what a well of emotions you were. Brisbane, Australia & the world has lost a unique genious!

  • which one of there songs goes 'im from brisbane and i'm quite plian' sums up brisbane and queensland under joe

  • The song is one of their first songs/first single - Lee Remick - I love it too - enjoy.

  • The song is called Lee Rimmick.........

  • One of the truly great pop recordings, and a lovely video. The loss of Grant makes it particularly touching...

  • excellent stuff, check out THE ORCHIDS on youtube, here the song "another saturday night" as featured on an episode of FAlCON BEACH

  • Wow,never heard of the band or the song-Love em both Thank you !

  • This ROCKS!! ....well, not really, but you know what I mean.

  • my all time favorite!

  • Thank you so much. I had the pleasure of seeing this band in a Wellington (NZ) pub in, I think, 86. I remember the woman drummer - a rare thing in those days - and a bass player who looked like he was just out of nappies. A wonderful song by a wonderful band. Thanks again.

  • Lindy is/was the drummer, she used to live behind me and practice the drums for a play/musical at the La Boite? theatre every day and I knew them as they were 3 memebers of different bands living in adjoining houses. After a gig in West End (again broken up by police)I was approached by a member of the GB and asked if I knew of a drummer. I said there was one but her talents were very limited, they really were, and they said they just after a drummer to do basic fill-in, not be noticed.

  • Thank you for this beautiful song.

  • A gorgeous, timeless song. The Go-Betweens were such a fantastic band.

  • One great song by GO-BETWEENS

    In our hearts forever

    God Bless Grant!

  • great song one of the best bands ever in memory of Grant

  • Such a beautiful song! So glad to finally see the vid. Thanks for uploading... and thanks, of course, to Grant, Lindy, and Robert for being one of the best bands ever right out of the box.

  • the most uderrated band ever?

  • I was just a little boy...more twenty years ago.

It's a bueatiful flash back in the past.

    God bless '80!!!
