Based on a satiric novel by William Peter Blatty, later well known for writing "The Exorcist" (he also wrote the screenplay); however, Notre Dame didn't like the way their football team was depicted in the film, and sued the studio to prevent its release [that's one reason why this isn't seen too often these days]. Exotic dancer Nai Bonet was "technical advisor" for Shirley's dance sequence and appeared as one of the dancers as well. And John{ny} Williams wrote the score...
I'd love it if you could add the entire opening sequence of this film, through all the credits and the entire "John Goldfarb Please Come Home" song. I've been dying to find it somewhere on the web (I've got the audio, but no video). Thanks!

I love how John Williams used Notre Dame's fight song in this scene. Simply wonderful.

I thought I was the only one who remembered this movie from the 60s! I was a kid at the drive in but still remember watching it! thanks for sharing.

Shirley MacLaine was never hotter than she was in this movie, especially so in the flimsy nighties & the cheerleader outfit.

oh, wow. I loved this movie when I was a kid--a local independent channel in Washington DC used to show it frequently, and I saw it over 20 times.

I used to watch it on channel 20, too. Like everyone else, been looking for it for ages. thanks for the clip.

I miss WDCA. They would show the best movies.
Do you remember Captain 20? Gore De Val?
Do you also remember Payton Place (movie)?
They always showed it out of order. I never knew why you saw a funeral, THEN the mother would die a half hour later. LOL
Those were the days.

Nope. It's not out on DVD & I haven't seen it on TCM.

And you won't as this was a 20th Century Fox film and TCM stays with MGM et al.
Laceykat66 2 years ago
