I completely agree with you. I don't think Emma should have played Sam. She doesn't seem right for the character, it should have been played by some unknown actress.
Just finished the book, I have to say it was wonderful and inspiring in so many different ways! I really loved it! I do agree though Emma Watson is very classically beautiful and as Charlie said in the book, he likes unconventional beauty and coffee shops! Like me!! X)
I've read the book and it's amazing! And tbh I think Emma Watson would make the perfect Sam! I've never really noticed her acting though because to me it was fine, and I really love Emma, and I've seen photos of her on the set of the film and she looked the part. So does Logan Lerman, I think he would make a good Charlie he has a weird look and that's how I imagined him. But I also see Freddie Highmore as Charlie! That's my opinion. :)
I actually rather like Emma Watson, and in the last couple of Harry Potter films it did seem like she'd had acting lessons. She's certainly improved a huge amount. She still has problems expressing any sort of emotional range though. She's just not that great an actor.
But hey, she's young. Here's hoping she'll improve, and that she'll do a fantastic job :)

Anton Yelchin - Charlie
Emma Stone or Kat Dennings - Sam
Kieran Culkin - Patrick
Not my final choices but it was the first that came to mind
I agree with this but Chbosky himself picked her, so lets hope she pulls through :)

I feel the same way. Although I visioned Sam as being a somewhat girly girl with long hair. I hope this doesn't ruin the book for me!

Loveee this book. I'm reading it right now. I don't mind Emma being Sam, but Logan lerman as Charlie?? I pictured Charlie as much younger!! Lol
