Will you PLEASE redo this REAL slow? I got a mandolin and am dying to learn this dadgome song but there are no tabs anywhere, and as a half-compliment, your fingers are too damn fast for me to keep up with my ear. Help me out man!
There is a Tabledit version of this song somewhere on the net. Download Tabledit and search for "song for a young queen .tab" I don't remember what site I found it on, but that's how I learned this song.
Practice practice practice. honestly, learning songs, slow and accurate makes fast and accurate. Find a speed you're comfortable with and work from there.
i never knew the name of this song until now lol...anyways...good job! who walked through the background at the begining? btw, we need to meet up soon and such...
Um,I pick up alot of stuff on my own... technique wise, I listen to Sam Bush, David Grisman, Ricky Skaggs, Chris Thile, etc. I'm pretty much self taught.
wow you are a redicoulus mandolin player! Im a fiddle player and i play Mandolin to but i know it takes a lot of skill to play a mandolin like that. Great job though!
I learned the song from a friend of Chris Thile, and I've never seen a transcription. I've been meaning to post a vid of that song, but my comp is slow. Uh, the only advice I have is attempt it by ear, or when I post the video, try and watch fingers i guess. Sorry!
yeah, i got it from mandozine dot com. It is a TEFview file. The music is off, though. the song starts on an up beat, but the music starts it on a down beat.
I wouldn't go that far (in regards to it being the best Thile song ever). But you did a great job! This is by no means an easy song, and Chris 's age when he wrote this never ceases to amaze me.
This is a Poe mandolin. He is a private builder out of Columbia Missouri. He buys wood from the same place that Gilcrist did. He makes great mandolins with good tone and beautiful craftmanship.
Have you competed in the Walnut Valley Mandolin Championship? You look familiar from another one of your vidoes.

@DuneRidr
Yeah, I competed twice I think... It's been a while since I've been to WV Fest though, due to school.

that would be so awesome if you could play "Eureka!". I'd say if there were one song out of Chris Thile that required the most skill, it's that one.
