Thanks for all the comments...my wife is in China and I researched all this Tesol, Tefl etc, and it is all smoke and mirrors,,the Govt of China clearly states that a 4 yr degree is required to teach...anything less and getting a visa is a joke...I am sorry so many had to find out the hard way this truth....thank God for those that warned me before plunging into another lie...this ad all it does is make us salivate to work in China...nada about what the program can ACTUALLY do...
Stay the fuck away from this kind of place and these kinds of corporate people who claim to be masters of the ESL Universe. They're not focused on education, they're focused on Money, they lie, they'll cut your salary, they'll pretend to be your friend, but deep down inside, you're for sale. Stay the fuck away from this place, you have been warned.
why are chinese so obessessed with learning english anyway? White people should be the ones learning mandarin since we are taking over the world in a few decades
@KoolJayJ English is and always will be the international language. English is far more wide-spread. India is expected to takeover soon after China becomes no. 1, and English is already significant in India. Then, if the other countries stay the same, out of the top 20 economies, the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 10th and 13th largest will have English as a Major language, while only the 2nd largest will speak Mandarin. Also, English speaking countries lay claim to 25% Earth's land, while China is only 6.5%.
@KoolJayJ You are referring solely to the number of native speakers. English has far more non-native speakers that any other language, and is second only to Mandarin in the total number of speakers. English has already been established as the international language. I don't disagree that Mandarin will become more important. If I did, I wouldn't be studying Mandarin. However, it won't be the more important than English.
Good. Chinese government hire English teachers and foreign language teachers to teach Chinese primary , middle and high school students English and other foreign language now .
thay lied to my father as well, thay worked him 18+ hours a day and placed him in a free apartment, of poor living, and no water, air, heat, toilet or shower, he had to pay a return aswell. at his own expence.
DONT TRUST ENGLISG TEACHING EMPLOYMENT. (TESL/ESL/TESOL) ADVERTISMENTS
Don't believe anything that guy says. I worked for him and got in big trouble with the Chinese police, because Linguaphone didn't arrange my work visa like they promised. Not just me, but 4 other teachers were forced to leave China and get new passports in our home countries at our own expense! Liars!
You can no longer get a work visa for China unless you are in your own country. Even if you have a current business or tourist visa - you have to go back to your home country to apply and wait for your work visa to be issued.. The rule change (or change of interpretation by the Chinese authorities in reality) took a lot of schools by surprise. Linguaphone should still have covered the cost of your visa tho.
So, the employer cant get a visa for the employee anymore? I want to work in China, but I cant go to my country, it's in another continent too far. Do you know if it is allowed that someone goes n my behalf?
At the moment an applicant has to be in his country of residence when the work visa in issued. Sure your employer will assist you with the application - but you have to reside in your home country. It may be worth investigating whether the province / city you want to teach in are more lenient in the application of the law. But be careful some schools will take you on without the proper visa - risking being thrown out of China for good, and fines and/ or jail too.
Whats a reputable agency or recruitment firm that places you with schools?

I'd rather teach English in rural China. I don't like big cities... especially a city whose population is 7% that of the whole United States!
