This question of "Paul's" words vs Yahshua's teaching always came up with my friendly discussion with Sunday Church pastors and when I would ask them: "Who is coming thru the clouds to save you, Yahshua or "Paul"? And they would suddenly go quiet..And I would add, "Then listen to Paul, for I will listen (If i have doubts in a certain issue) to Yahshua who will save me."
Keep it up David. I so look forward to you sharing your work with us, You are a blessing to me, a relatively recent convert to The Holy Orthodox Church. :)
Because the stories i have heard about her, say that she had Jesus at about 15 yrs old, then died at about 70 yrs old. Plus theres a site in Ephesus ill seee later this yr that professes John and Mary lived there. So im not sure, which tradtion is correct?
@orthodox4eva There seems to have been a difference between the Eastern and the Western Church on this. The Eastern tradition (as recorded by St. Cyril of Jerusalem, for instance) was that the Virgin Mary died 10 years after Christ's death/resurrection/ascension and that she died in Jerusalem (the house there is an Orthodox monastery today). The Western tradition had her living a little longer and moving with John to Asia Minor at some point and there dying in Ephesus. (continued...)
@orthodox4eva This similar to the disagreement between East and West over who the "brothers" of Christ in the Gospel were -- the Eastern sources, like the Proto-Gospel of James, say that they were elder step-brothers through Joseph's previous marriage. The Western sources, like St. Jerome, say that they were cousins. On both issues I tend towards accepting the Eastern traditions because they are generally older and closer to the events geographically, making them more likely.
@davidpwithun That's not true, Coptic tradition handed down from St.Mark(and is Eastern tradtion) say that they were cousins from St.Mary's side (brothers in Jewish tradition) Nowhere in the Bible does it mention St.Joseph in previous marriage(nothing even to point towards that notion).
for my first 25 years i thought the church was and the holy spirit was taken from earth, i thought this because of Mormonism they teach there was no succession from the apostles.

With the Virgin Mary.
Did she die in 40 or 55 AD?
