For wclattimore: Thank you so much for responding. I had my appendix taken out around December, 1963. I was in the 6th grade. The 4th, 5th, and 6th grades were supposed to be in a school, Christmas play. I didn't want to be in a stupid play. How can I get out of this stupid play? I had an attack of appendicitis and almost died; but I got out of that play. I'm writing a book and I needed to know how long the open procedure takes. Thanks for responding....Steve

Using the old, open method and not the laparoscopic method, about how long does it take to take out the appendix? Can it be done in under 30 minutes? I had mine taken out in December, 1963. I don't remember how long it took.
