  • I add (hot) diced cherry peppers (The ones in the glass jar) to my pickled eggs...and sometimes some hot sauce. Pickled hot eggs... Gooooood shit after hammering some beers. Jb has a good method on his vids too.

  • I have an excess of eggs at the moment and need to pickle them to prevent trashing them. So, how long they have to wait is irrelevant to me.

    This may be a stupid question but, would you just go ahead and poor those eggs in a jar and seal it for long term storage or do you need to wait several days before sealing them up. Either way do you need to sterilize the jar or heat it to remove the air like when you can shit or what?

    After 3 months in the fridge (sealed with a tight lid) they are just as good as the first day so I suspect they might last much longer than that.

  • @papercuts777 uhh, you put water in yours. of course the eggs can be eaten within a couple days (they can be eaten immediately), but it takes a week or so for the vinegar to penetrate the egg to its core. you can test/prove this by adding beets to your brine. you will actually be able to see how far into the egg the brine has penetrated by how much of the egg has turned purple. thanks for the vid.

  • @annara Pickles where made because refrigeration wasn't common (unless you had snow in your front yard). Salt + Acid = Hell for anything smaller then a squirrel. Sauerkraut works similar, except for the salt cuts almost all bacteria from funking it up, and basically only allows lactic producing bacteria which ferments it and provides the acid.

  • If you used pure vinegar, I used 75% vinegar to 25% water. they should have some flavor by tonite or tomorrow.

  • Nope. These are magical eggs. They're done in one day.

  • No man. 2 weeks is crazy. When I make these fkrs they're gone within the next day. Just stab each side of the egg lightly with a sharp knife to get the juices flowin'. Let them chill in the fridge for a day and Capiche they're ready to serve.

  • The knife cut is a good idea for in-a-hurry style. But the eggs will soak up more at room temp as opposed to cold. So now u can have 'em just a bit faster! haha
