Nah, you don't have to go torrent to get free photoshop. Just download the trial version and then download Paradox Photoshop CS2 KeyGen. I did it and got Photoshop CS2 free of charge.

hey, do you use a tablet? perhaps a wacom? you look very comfortable cging with both brush and lasso tools.

Don't say that! If I showed you some of my illustrations from just about 2 years ago, you would laugh in my face! I know people are always saying to keep practicing, but trust me--it really is true! Everytime you color, or draw a new picture, you subconsciously do something new which makes you better each time.

9X12 are to big compared to the screen. Unless you have a really BIG screen. Try a bamboo Fun 6X8. i got mine last year and I'm in love with it. Its perfectly portioned to the screen. ♥ good luck

Looks like youre using lasso tool, ok, but then what's that you do to make it look like that?

I think that you are talking about the shine in the hair. If you are, I just lassoed a zig-zag design, filled it in with a lighter color, and then made it even lighter on some parts with the dodge tool. Hope that helps ^_^

Well ever since my Wacom broke, my mother absolutely refused to buy another expensive one because she didn't trust me with it. So for like 24 bucks, I bought a cheap 4x3 tablet with no brand name. Sounds stupid, but it actually gets the job done, I've had no problems with it!

X3 One thing I was pondering about though...why couldn't you just shade/lighten the hair without using that tool, like you did for the skin??? I never liked using that tool so I just free-handly color it. =\

You make the lineart layer into its own layer by double clicking on it and changing the blending mode to 'multiply'. Then you just continue creating new layers under the lineart layer for all the different things you want to color ^_^. Hope that helps

The lineart is on the white background :D. I would say coloring with the white background is easier, but that's just because that's how I learned what to color with. Meh, I think that it is just a matter of taste and how you learned how to do it :D.

I would say practice makes perfect, but other than that, I would say making long and fast strokes on your tablet. It makes the lines a whole lot straighter :D. Also, if you are using photoshop to do the lineart, I would suggest using opencanvas better. OpenCanvas is more effective in getting those smoother lines :D. Anyways, hopes that helps!

^^ that helped alot thanx....im on here cuz im lookin for techniques to speed my coloring up...i have some questions though, do you use the selection on the tips of the hair so that the shadow lines are more precise? thats the only thing i can think of. And you did the eye really quick...did you just have the area inside selected or something? Thanx again ^^

Yep, I did the selection on the shadows of the hair because it makes the coloring a lot more precise. When you wanna make finer and more precise lines, I definately reconmend the Lasso Tool, and if you dont have a tablet, you can always use the Polygonal Lasso Tool. :D As for the eyes, I actually didn't make a selection, I used the brush tool, Burn tool, and the Dodge Tool to make the eye shine. Hope that helps :D.
