Lol, no se pueden comparar, en Berlin destrozan el alma gritando y esto? Esto es una porquería, es lamentable..... no es ni un cuarto de lo potente que era en Berlin.
With the addition of a rhythm and a vocal hook ,this sounds pretty good. The original 1980 version on here is a total cacophony. I never understood why TG were always considered the Godfathers of industrial (yeah, they founded the label I know) cos they never had any beats. This does and it's loads better for it in my opinion.
this i would consider anti-music, the complete rejection of traditional music theroy, key structure melody etc and as an art form quite difficult to replicate from performance to performance with acceptable consistency
@14jwh "his i would consider anti-music, the complete rejection of traditional music theroy" -- Yes, but it's quite amazing! -- sometimes the BEST music isn't music at all, and the rejection of trad. music IS very much a musical theory in itself -- of course this was done back in '78/79 when we REALLY NEEDED a rejection of the traditional, and look at the mass of creation that came out of such a rejection!

Bullshit. Throbbing Gristle owe their entire existence to Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground. You know, real musicians. They were 20 times more "industrial" than these untalented pieces of rubbish. TG did absolutely nothing for electronic music. Microphone feedback coupled with a three second electronic loop and moaning isn't fucking music.
@PharodWormhair I agree, this is terrible. Its a disgrace that people pay to see this when there are so many talented bands that will never be heard. I'm pretty sure everyone in that audience is either out of their mind on drugs or just pretending to like this shit so they can say they were there and be more hip in whatever dumb ass scene they belong to. Anti-music? That about sums it up. You must have to hate music to like this.
@MoondogUSA talented bands? guitar, bass and drums and been there done that for 50 years more like it.
The group here is the mack-daddy of ALL punk new-wave independent electronic noise space acid house; everymotherfuckinthing. While the Sex Pistols and the Clash were signed to major corporate labels, this group was the FIRST to make and distribute their own records. Sleazy was a graphic artist who did album covers for Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
@MoondogUSA Further, they were using a home-made digital sampler in 1978. Chris Carter is an electronic music pioneer who built much of their equipment. The multitude of references to literature and Art introduced Situationism, cut-ups, William Burroughs, and a host of related concepts to 1000s of followers across the globe. They made it clear that they were rejecting the traditional pay-yer-dues rockstar bullshit, and creating a new model of music. The most best group since Velvet Underground.
i saw them when this video was being shot and not long after at the Ricardo Montalban theater. I can honestly say the latter show was one of the most unique and brilliant I have ever seen.
Thank you so much for uploading this! It was such a treat to be able to see Throbbing Gristle perform. It was definitely the best set of the weekend and the fact that they began with Persuasion and ended with Discipline elevated the set to legendary status. If you've got more vids of this show please don't hesitate to upload them
Sorry guys - I knew that... but was so tired after such a long late night. So is the following from Wikipedia incorrect?
"On 29 May 1981, Throbbing Gristle performed at the Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco, California, USA. This concert marked the end of the group and its mission. As Cosey succinctly put it, "TG broke up because me and Gen broke up.'"
"On 29 May 1981, Throbbing Gristle performed at the Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco, California, USA. This concert marked the end of the group and its mission."-- YUP DAT TRUE As Cosey succinctly put it, "TG broke up because me and Gen broke up.'"__LOL in coseys opinion i guess
@valstreit it was correct for many years, but you see money this brings them all back together also a few deaths that's another story free them from past musical projects.

Anyway Genesis on bass is worse than Kronos (Venom).
FZ other question: You call that music?
