How long have we been teaching people that stealing is wrong? How many people, even children, continue to do it? How many people have committed crimes not b/c they had no other choice but b/c they wanted to exercise power over someone else's life? It's not society, it's the nature of the person...and that is something that won't ever change.

Violence begins with a choice and that choice is not not always dependent on circumstances. If we could trace the history of violence we'd end up at a Cain and Able scenario; a person begrudges another and, via personal choice, elects violence. There will always be ppl who, regardless of upbringing, desire to harm others

Germany has the most strict anti-violent media laws in the world and there's violent ppl there. Often, outside factors can be attributed to a violent act. Sometimes, there is no other reason except that person's will and desire. As long as the latter exist, we need to be prepared to defend against them. Even a radical change in society, while helping significantly, would not solve the issue.
