I love to see a new GP 04 to 08 vs GP 97 to 03. Race with non supercharged.
Then race with GTP old and new. That be cool and interesting. I know the new one has 260hp and 280 torque. Old one 240hp and torque the same. But it doesn't matter with 20hp more. Well i will see if there will be sometime on here. Just wondering lol.
I find the new GP's don't haul ass. The older ones do some reason. I watch a few 97 to 03 on youtube. Most the time they win. Even the stock ones. Anyhow the 300EX works good and probably lighter too and maybe more power. Ya i just saying and what see anyway.

@MrKing651 I gotta tell you, hooked on phonics are good educational material. GTPs don't come with a V8. They are slow stock, but respond to mods very well because they are supercharged. I had one about 10 years ago, and stock I beat a Type R integra, and have hung with a S200, though in higher speeds he slightly pulled away. My GTP was at 14.3 et stock, but it wasn't stock for long.
actually i had a stock 02 gtp coupe and beat a s2k to about 70...granted the girl couldnt launch car worth a shit...i beat her twice....an integra and an rx8 on the highway...a prelude SI, came damn close to a modded GSX and Modded GST. GP arent the fastest cars but theyre not bad for the big car they are.
well I own a gtp slightly modded with some headers, smaller pulley, etc... and I can tell you that I'm pretty sure it would not get blown away by a stock 300. Driving my car is a lot of fun around town so to speak, 0-70 KPH... pulls haaard.
But with that said I've always wanted a 300ZX because they look so nice. It's one of my dream cars... should get a 94 or something. nice cars.
@MrKing651 Go to 3800 Pro forum and check the FWD 1/4 runs. There are loads of GP's that run 10's, 9's, and 8's. All have the 3.8 modified. Never doubt a GP, they are fast stock and lightning fast modified. You sir, are a disrespectfull person. I like that 300ZX and tuners like the S2000, so therefore i am not biased in any way.
@jakevideo If you want to get picky about it, I weigh 160. It would have made virtually no difference. In 2 of the races the Z missed a gear, so the results would have been worse in those races. In my opinion 160lbs would have made a 1/2 car difference at best in a 1/4 mile race.

C'mon bro that is complete BULLSHIT ! A 3. inch pulley on a gtp delivers 15 psi and is good for mid 12's consistantly in the 1/4mile with supporting mods. A stock Twin turbo zx300 produces 13 psi and will run high 13's low 14's. Dont try to feed me a spoonful of bullshit. A stock gtp has 33 lb injectors, and you say this guy has 32# injectors??? lol. You need at least 42 lb injectors to balance the air/fuel ratio on a gtp with a 2.8 inch pulley. Google some stats and try again.
You are correct, the GTP had 42.5 lb injectors. I hope you didn't lose too much sleep over it. It also was using a 3.0 pulley for the races as the 2.8 was causing belt slip.
Since I was the one who modded and raced the GTP at the track I am well aware of what people imagine what they actually do.
Just FYI a stock 300ZX creates 9.5 psi of boost. Maybe you should re-Google you stats.
Na 350z is faster stock vs stock with the 300zx. 350z is heavier but mor hp and torque. and its dynamics are better. Now modded against modded the 300zx takes it. Easily.
yea slight problem you can't break boost a supercharger. a turbo you can let spool but a supercharger you need the belts moving to spin the turbine meaning unless your moving you can't really break boost. he did however use the break and get up to about 2,500 rpm i can tell because there wasnt much wheel spin.
you dont hear it at all bc it is impossible to break boost in a gtp. trust me i have one and there is no way to break boost, trust me ive tried many times. there is no way to make boost while your at a dead stop, you can only breakstand to about 2500 rpm

It is the other way around. The 300ZX has intake, exhaust, ecu. The GTP has 3.0 pulley, XP cam, 42lb/hr injectors, Full size IC, rocker arms, intake, headers/full exhaust.

I also happen to know both owners very well. The cars are well taken care of and healthy. The faster car won. End of discussion.

but thats still pretty good for how much bigger the gp is than the 300zx
but because horsepower is the multiple of RPM Times Ft/Lbs, the GTP has a reletively low rpm range of about 3000 rpm of good powerband at the absolute most so it makes the torque but when its not designed at all to make much past 5500 then its kinda just hit a wall
maybe if it had a close ratio six speed to take as much advantage or the small powerband but its got a 3 speed auto (WTF was GM thinkin)
It has nothing to do with KR at top end because the L36 (non supercharged) is the same way. They pull really hard till about 90. Same goes for the u-bend, no top end whether you remove it or not.. Only way to fix it is cam and or rockers.
This coming from a guy who owns a 98 GTP and a 2000 SE with the L36.
Put a turbo conversion kit with intercooler on that GTP and that would be quite a challenge. GTP has good low end power, but once it reaches 3rd gear, the high end power dies down due to the supercharger. Supercharger is used mostly for low end power. I would put a turbo on that GTP.
I know both of the drivers and that's my C5 in some of the pics:) The Mods on the GTP are correct and so are the ones on the 300ZX. Good race really. Need to post up the one of my Z28 racin' the ZX Kevin. where mine falls on it's ass at like 125. HAHA~cole~
Seriously dude, i've been working with these cars for a long time. My GTP is cammed, has P&P heads, LIM, and blower, double roller timing set, 3" pulley,headers, 42.5# injectors, alt rewire, fuel pump rewire, swirl polished valves, 105# springs, milled retainers and titanium locks. I'm currently running my old tune for the 3.4 pulley and stock cam, and i would guarantee that my car would take yours. That GTP definitely didn't sound modded. BTW, the fart cans on the 300 are a nice touch...
older gtp's are lighter like 97-99 if thats an 01 or newer it's alot heavier then the 97-99 but has 260hp i think or 280 don't remember but i got a 98 b/c there the 97-99 are the fastest b/c there lighter 14.9 1/4mile where as the newer ones pull low 15's
01? that would still make it a 6th gen Grand Prix. This is obviously atleast an 04 7th gen GP (260hp). The reason he lost so bad is because he's a hefty guy. You have to remember, the power to weight ratio for these cars isn't that great when you consider the car weighs 3400 already. Toss another 300-400lbs for the driver plus however much the passenger weighs, that's a lot of weight for the car to pull.
The reason he lost is because he does not have anywhere near the power, or powerband of the 300ZX. Both cars weigh identical, and the driver of the GTP does not way 400 lbs.
now on the other hand give that GP a 5 speed auto and a more agressive cam, mill the block down and shorten the stroke and add high pressure springs it would be a different story.
but then of course the boost wouldnt be able to meet the demand so he should probably then opt for the Twincharge set up,

This GTP had an 2.8 pulley, XP cam, full size intercooler, 32 lb injectors, kemp tune and some other supporting mods. It was nowhere near stock.
The 300ZX had intake/exhaust/tune.
Stock for stock the 300ZX is faster than a 350z and Mustang GT.

The GTP has a Full size IC, XP Cam, Pacesetter headers, 2.8 pulley, chris kemp tune, solid motor mounts, rebuilt transmission, intake/exhaust.

Uhm, no. All those mods on the L67 would make it an easy mid 12 second car. The ZX with those mods makes it a low 13 second car at best.

but because horsepower is the multiple of RPM Times Ft/Lbs, the GTP has a reletively low rpm range of about 3000 rpm of good powerband at the absolute most so it makes the torque but when its not designed at all to make much past 5500 then its kinda just hit a wall
maybe if it had a close ratio six speed to take as much advantage or the small powerband but its got a 3 speed auto (WTF was GM thinkin)

It has nothing to do with KR at top end because the L36 (non supercharged) is the same way. They pull really hard till about 90. Same goes for the u-bend, no top end whether you remove it or not.. Only way to fix it is cam and or rockers.
This coming from a guy who owns a 98 GTP and a 2000 SE with the L36.

Put a turbo conversion kit with intercooler on that GTP and that would be quite a challenge. GTP has good low end power, but once it reaches 3rd gear, the high end power dies down due to the supercharger. Supercharger is used mostly for low end power. I would put a turbo on that GTP.

I know both of the drivers and that's my C5 in some of the pics:) The Mods on the GTP are correct and so are the ones on the 300ZX. Good race really. Need to post up the one of my Z28 racin' the ZX Kevin. where mine falls on it's ass at like 125. HAHA~cole~

Seriously dude, i've been working with these cars for a long time. My GTP is cammed, has P&P heads, LIM, and blower, double roller timing set, 3" pulley,headers, 42.5# injectors, alt rewire, fuel pump rewire, swirl polished valves, 105# springs, milled retainers and titanium locks. I'm currently running my old tune for the 3.4 pulley and stock cam, and i would guarantee that my car would take yours. That GTP definitely didn't sound modded. BTW, the fart cans on the 300 are a nice touch...

GTP has headers/exhaust, intake, 1.9 rockers, full size intercooler, DHP tuner, poly mounts.
300ZX has: intake/exhaust/boost controller.

older gtp's are lighter like 97-99 if thats an 01 or newer it's alot heavier then the 97-99 but has 260hp i think or 280 don't remember but i got a 98 b/c there the 97-99 are the fastest b/c there lighter 14.9 1/4mile where as the newer ones pull low 15's

01? that would still make it a 6th gen Grand Prix. This is obviously atleast an 04 7th gen GP (260hp). The reason he lost so bad is because he's a hefty guy. You have to remember, the power to weight ratio for these cars isn't that great when you consider the car weighs 3400 already. Toss another 300-400lbs for the driver plus however much the passenger weighs, that's a lot of weight for the car to pull.

The reason he lost is because he does not have anywhere near the power, or powerband of the 300ZX. Both cars weigh identical, and the driver of the GTP does not way 400 lbs.

now on the other hand give that GP a 5 speed auto and a more agressive cam, mill the block down and shorten the stroke and add high pressure springs it would be a different story.
but then of course the boost wouldnt be able to meet the demand so he should probably then opt for the Twincharge set up,
go check out the ZZP TTGT if you want to see a gt in the hands on someone who knows what they are doing.
and has the money to do it.

This car has long since been traded in on an 03 Cobra.

good luck with that shit on handling, you can't handle to well if the tie rod snaps, thats what happend to my friend he was just driving on the road and next min. he's wrapped around a tree the cobra only had 40k on it if you give me a motor/tranny with a few kinks alright whatever but a tie rod snapping can kill you replace the tie rods asap with upgraded ones it's worth your life, lucky for my friend it hit on the on the right side of the car they said if it hit the other side he'd be dead

There is nothing worse than people who say stuff like, spend $5 million and it will be a diff story. U can make a Lada beat a ferrari if you spend enough. Those 300zx's are scary fast with very little work.

ok but just turbo a gtp and you can pull 12's with nothing else really, about 2 big companys that build parts for this car and they've gotten the car to run 8.6sec 1/4mile, and you don't buy a FF to go around the bends
