hey so youtube is disapproving a lot of gaming video immediately recently? If im unsuccessful monetizing can i try again at a later date? thank people. pretty stressful getting ads on gaming videos (game commentaries)
@iGamingProHD dude it is actually happening to alot of people atm including me. Youtube is trying to fix this i think so just wait a week or so. I woul say just keep uploading yr vids tho so yr viewers dont get pissed
Thanks for the video man I have been so nervous about uploading my walkthroughs cause of the whole user rights and all that. So this fair use argument really works for youtube?
@brookaple If you are really concerned about music copyright the is a website the EVERYONE use even partners I will try and find you a link to the website :)
Ok so we cant do walkthroughs on videos and get paid? How stupid so many people do this. So I am unsure is this legal or not because your video says one thing but comments say another.
How can i not get the video to match it third party content? I even add my own commentary and to the video and all, and yet it still match its third party content.
I had to create an AdSense account. After filling out the requirements, Google AdSense sent my an email saying that they have approved my application. Then how come i can't monetize my videos yet? Am i missing something or did i do something wrong? Please reply back.
I made a commentary with MW3 gameplay in the background about this subject! I got the video approved and its adds on it! Listen to the commentary and read the intresting comments below the video!
@Generation4gaming If it takes to long I usually stop it from being monotized and re monotize it. It works for me! If I helped you can you please subsribe id really appreciate it buddy :)
u realize fair use doesn't cover copyrighted material that you have no rights over they can take it down if they want and sue you for thousands of dollars. The only way to get permission is to get permission from the company who own the copyright. I am not just trolling i was looking for some sample emails not trying to be a douche jus trying to be helpful.
@BirdvsDog yeah no problem but what you want to do is email their press release contact or their legal contact support and ask them and discuss what you will be doing and how many people you have that view your videos and include stats. They will usually contact you but try to earn rep with tiny companies than use them as references to the bigger ones. the hardest part is finding the actual person you need to contact. that is how machinima, tgn, ign etc. does it but they have alot of rep.
@blakely56 Yes I'm well aware of that, i'll make sure to keep that in mind for video games I don't have permission for yet. Thank you once again for the information.
@blakely56 There is another side to this argument as well, and that is a necessary proof of damages is needed for a suit against somebody who uploaded a educational piece on your work, and that is not exactly the easiest thing in the world to prove.
@aHornyWhiteGirl they approve them because they are lazy and they won't get in trouble if you have permission or if the company who owns the copyrights doesn't complain.
"Fair use is a limitation and exception to the exclusive right granted by copyright law to the author of a creative work. In United States copyright law, fair use is a doctrine that permits limited use of copyrighted material without acquiring permission from the rights holders. Examples of fair use include commentary, criticism, news reporting, research, teaching, library archiving and scholarship."
I have done everything you said and even watched the official youtube video and i keep getting rejected when i try to monetize my videos. I am sure everything is correct
@byArteer If you do not have the monetize feature then you must have at least one video that gets viewed by thousands of people. If your not getting views on your videos right away don't worry about it, just keep working hard and hopefully YouTube will send you an email. :)
@byArteer You have to receive an invite from Youtube to start monetizing your vids in the revenue programme, once you get this you still have to apply, and Youtube still have to approve/set up an adsense account ... only after all this will a "monetze video" option appear on the video manager section of your channel.
@FranticViperz Link youtube to the sites Terms of use for your copyright free music when you fill out that 1000 word box. You can view my crappy minecraft video. It has a royalty free song on it and ads have been put on it.
I make gaming videos that aren't commentaries, but still have other original work, such as text and graphics, on the video. Can I still monetize my videos?
I have a question: How can you monetize let's plays? Do I say the same thing as stated here? Or do I say something completely different? If you know what I should say, please respond and if it's really, really long, then send me a PM containing the statement.
@DrunkGoomba1645 If its a lets play its considered a walkthrough. Since its a walkthrough it should be completely fine to monetize. Check the description for more info on how to get walkthrough's approved. I put a link to a video YouTube did on how to monetize it.
hey i have a question what happens if your video is not approved for ads is your channel in trouble or do you get a strike? or just no ads? help appreciated
@BirdvsDog You may not necessarily loose your video. It's just that adds will not be placed on them and I don't think you can re submit the video again. I'm just saying because that's what happened to me when some of my videos don't get accepted for revenue sharing.
I'm an intellectual property attorney and still find the concept of fair use confusing. Commentary, criticism, and education are all elements of fair use, but something that still needs to be considered is "whether such use is of commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes" (17 U.S.C. 107). This is merely one factor to consider, but it's hard to imagine that monetizing commentary is anything close to a nonprofit purpose. But, I don't blame you for trying, so good luck!
Thanks, it took some figuring out but I finally figured this out. Now when I go to My videos, it says "monetized" next to the videos I applied for, but no ads have shown up yet. Do you know if there's an approval process that it has to go through first? I read somewhere that they automatically approve everything, but later may go in and remove monetization if they decide it's against their policies.
@GamesR4FITE Yes there is a approval process for every video submitted. If it says your video is monetized just wait for adds to show up, it takes a while sometimes.
@BirdvsDog Mine are coming back declined from YouTube. I give commentary and should be ok due to fair use laws. Do you have any suggestions on how to get these approved?
@LaneVid Sadly this happens to everyone, regardless of the fact the video is fair use. All I can say is more information is always best. If they see just one sentence written out for when your applying for adds they wont accept it because they consider it to be not enough information. If anything just make sure to add that the video does not violate any of Youtube's terms of service, and maybe even put a link to Youtube's terms of service page as well to further prove your video is Fair Use.
@BirdvsDog Thanks for the reply. I am pretty detailed when I submit my claim. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Hopefully they get approved ... I guess it's a waiting game now :(
What about a game like Crash Bandicoot that has switched owners and publishers over the years? Say I'm doing a Let's Play of the second or third game, should I be linking to Activision who is the current owner or Naughty Dog who owned it for those games?
@BirdvsDog I have been asked to monetize videos, so I have monetized my video game commentarys but it said that no video game footage is allowed, whilst I know other people have been allowed to monetize anything! Help.
@tr1ck5hot If its just video game footage without commentary it will not be approved for adds unless you have permission from the copyright owners themselves.
So I know this can be done with Minecraft and Call of Duty, but will the whole "fair use law" and posting the terms of use page work for basically any game, like nintendo games?
@THEGREENBLAZEX50 If it is just you playing a video game without commentary then it can not be monetized. Videos simply just showing a user playing a video game *Will Not* be accepted for adds.
@ZGUnlimited As long as it is provided somewhere whether it be when you are filling it out for adds or in the title/description of your video. Just make sure Youtube knows it is done with your consistent commentary throughout the entirety of the video.
