  • I thought he did this a Charlotte as well?

Anyhow I've met Trevor, Wheeler. very nice Family.

  • YES! why won't 48 car flip these days and Jimmie johnson has to know what rolling over feels like btw crazy crash

  • hes lucky as hell that car didn't go flying

  • "Just like a fucking horse"

    - Ned Jarret

XD i know he didn't say it but it sounds like it.

  • looks like ricky rudd's flip at daytona

  • that was wild.

  • Interesting that his window net came undone during the flip.

  • why wont the 48 flip???

  • 48 flipped back then, why cant it keep flipping now?

  • trevor still races. he attempted to qualify the #06 car in a couple races for a texas-based team

  • an untied shoe was the least of Trevor's worries that day!

  • Ha I love how the pit road reporter said "They need a caution" and then 4 seconds later a car goes flipping LOL.

  • This was my first cup race. This wreck started right in front of where I was sitting.

  • does speed tv show the full races?

  • He tired to make the race at Phoenix on Friday.

  • hes commin out of retirement at pheonix

  • No window net?

  • it came undone i think

  • At 3:16, when the car rocks back slightly just before leaving the pavement and into the grass, it looks like you can see the white helmet clearly.

I'm not sure there is a window net there at all. I'm not too familiar with pre-1990 NASCAR cars.

Did they have window nets in '84?

  • ya it got ripped off and then fell inside the car

  • almost the exact type of crash as rudd at daytona.

  • hahaha hell no.

Getting airborne is the only similarity.

  • I never knew BP worked a few races for CBS

  • thats my uncle!

  • Neat!

  • Really? Do you know if he's gonna keep trying to qualify for more races this year? I hope he makes the Richmond race.

  • Supposedly he's going to be competing with the Rolling Thunder Modifieds at Shenandoah Speedway on June 16th.

  • where I can download this kind of old NASCAR videos?

  • I wished the cars still sounded like this and were this fast! I miss those days...

  • the SPEED channel? really? what time

  • That poor #48

  • is there a current channel now where they show classic nascar races becuase i want to know becuase i really want to whatch classic nascar races

  • speed, espn classic

  • Nice timing Mike Joy...LOL.

  • Its amazing to see how easily the cars could get airborne back then...

  • a rare CBS appearance in the booth by Benny Parsons

  • the cot is better loking in a way it looks "old school"

  • cars were better looking back then ':-I

  • totally agree... that COT is a mess

  • quo vadis, brian france?

  • the COT makes the cars not race good at restrictor plate races

  • Talladega was a experiment, so that one really doesn't count. However, Daytona sucked in 2008 for the same reason it did last year (until the last 50 laps of course): tires wore away as soon as they were put on the car due to hot conditions and a VERY slick racetrack. All I mean is that give these things until the end of the year, it might get very interesting.

  • I didnt think Daytona sucked this year. I thought the cars were able to break up into smaller packs (one thing NASCAR wanted to try and lessen the chances of a big wreck), but just as much passing was happening.

  • To each his own I guess. Watching the Shootout and the 150's, the 500 felt like a step down. That's my in most humble opinion.

  • I posted that before even the Stewart/Busch Thing happened... sorry, ya it was actually a great speedweeks

  • well the 500 didn't have a proper ending, if it were al 200 laps, it might've been like the 2008 Daytona 500.

  • 2 points races, 2 last-lap passes for the win. What I am missing?

  • I miss Ned, Ken, and BP.

  • Ditto

  • the flip undid the windownet!

  • Davey Allison's flip at Pocono in '92 did the same thing. Boys was lucky to escape unharmed; Davey suffered a broken arm and a severe concussion when his head and *right* arm flailed out the window during his flip.

  • nope, he isnt racing for HK, he is racin for himself, the odd busch race. The hk deal fell apart before it even started. I was with him on saturday, no more HK. He is running modifieds in western Canada, calgary.

  • wat ever happen to him when he retire and did he ever win

  • he did retire , but is now racing for the newly-founded h&k motorsports team in the busch series

  • "spinning... crashing!!" lol

  • He really IS famous for this :P

Incidentally he's in this weekends NBS race at Montreal...no space for him to repeat this though

  • i here hes trying to make a come back in cup hmm bad idea him and old james hylton need to retier before someone goets hurt

  • if i wanted any cum back i would have scraped the roof or your mouth bitch! is your name jizz?

  • Yeah, when did Speed show this? All I ever see is the Daytona 500 from 79 till... 04 ish.

  • 2002 thats the only time i ever saw any of the nascar classics shows on speed, and yea all they usually did was the 500 from 79-00 i also saw the 00 pepsi 400 and this race

  • @battalionfan888 I also saw a couple of old Michigan races too.

  • When did SPEED show this? I would love it if CBS Sports would release remastered DVD's of the Daytona & 'Dega races that they covered from 79 through the '80's. I miss seeing these cars & races without restrictor plates at these tracks.

  • It was on in like 2002-2005 called NASCAR Classics, They Only showed Daytona 500s and this race

  • Also the Ernie Irvan's last win in 1997. NASCAR Classics was only CBS races that was showned on Speed Channel and Sun Sports.

  • A few car lengths? lol

  • Yeah, I knew that he never flipped over. That's why I'm waiting to see 48 flip, lol. I assume you like him and I am not with you on that but I think we all can agree to this: WHAT A RACE TONIGHT!

  • you can see his head snap out the window for a second at 19. thats why nascar mandated the window nets after a similar incident happened to richard petty in which he slammed his head on the pavement.

  • When blowovers were a new thing. Hey when is that going to happen to the 48 car again?

  • LOL

  • Thx for uploading this. I've been wondering what wreck this was since I saw this flip on one of the crash comps I've seen before.

  • why have i never seen this

  • I never knew that BP announced for CBS back in the 80's
