Actually the fast pack on the plane are the shields in battloid mode same as in the movie. When Goldman removed the limiters for safety reasons, you should watch the movie again and you'll see why.....MACROSS PLUS the movie.

Damn, that's a sleek looking plane. I loved Macross Plus, and was obsessed with the yf-19 and 21.. but the original 1/72 yamato really was a let down, with the chubby look in fighter mode..but this version...WOW!

@deadpool1102 I got one for $175 (shipping included) about a year ago on eBay. If you are patient, you can find one for the right price or just look out for sales from the import toy sites.

@WarhawkLegend69 I would definitely get the VF-11B. It's been getting positive reviews. Easier to transform and pretty much no qc issues. The cheapest I've seen it is on eBay for $180 total from an overseas seller. I would buy it, but I have other commitments right now. Got legal problems with my ex and our newborn son, so I gotta hire a lawyer to fight for my rights. Wish me luck!

It really is a gorgeous plane, one of the sleekest in the entire Macross Universe. I personally like the Battroid mode due to its very unique look.

The juxtaposition between its sleek fighter mode and beefy Battroid mode is simply amazing.

The company that made the YF-21 in Macross Plus, General Galaxy has a majority staff of Zentradi and Meltradi, so the Batteroid mode resembles the Meltran Quadellum Rau (In terms of bulky look and firepower)

@nathanaelgreenaway True true. As of my last time posting. I have spent $2200 on a bunch of 1/48 models and accessories. I still need some stealth super and strike parts. I couldn't find a super stealth for a reasonable price and I've just been putting off hunting down those extra pieces.

You, my friend, have a rockin review. There are definitely the plusses and minusses (if those are such words) to these Yamato figures. 80% improvement over their very first die-cast crappers but still not entirely without their frustrations. :) Thanks for sharing!

Great Review! Very Helpful! You definitely covered most of the issues I faced when transforming them. I was able to figure out the issue with the knees when they are contained in the compartment during Fighter mode. It seems that the knee joints can be snapped further into the upper leg.

I don't think this is the ugliest Valk, I actually like its look. What I don't like about the YF-21 is its legs... proportion wise they are too thin. This Valk is naturally kind of bulky in the upper torso and those thin legs make it look weak... but I guess the architecture of the mecha doesn't give designers enough room for thicker legs... I still think Yamato did an awesome job with this mecha. Yamato Rules!

Couple of things:

If will click together nicely with the fast packs and the gun pods do stick. Just not doing it properly

The plates on the legs click out to give a better range of motion

Didn't pay attention to the manual too much cause he didn't follow the instructions at all

The tail fins on the arms are meant to pop off to prevent breakage.

Didn't show the tabs in the ankles that keep them locked

I spent $175 on it at angolz. It's finicky but better than this review makes it out to be.

Love the fighter mode and now seeing it on video, GERWALK & Battriod are actually much nice then the photos I'd seen before lead me to believe.

The stand is a lot better then the SV-51's which as you know is solid black, give me clear one every time.

It is in HD. When HD videos are first uploaded, they show a lower res version first, and once the HD is encoded they show the option for that. the HD is now available by clicking the HD button above.

Atom usually does Macross stuff, but I got dibs on anything from Macross Plus. ;-)
