It makes your stereo more efficient because it doesn't have to play so loud for you to hear it. I would also recommend some vinyl/foam barrier mat to stop any airborn noise. Dynamat Extreme is a great product.
Second Skin is a step above with a cost usually BUT WELL WORTH IT. The Luxury Liner Pro is a closed cell foam, opposed to Dynaliner. Open cell is prone to mildew after it gets wet.
My Toyota truck has Dynamat top to bottom side to side.Not only does it stop noise,the hood and top of my truck survived golf ball size hail with it.Not even one blimish.
