  • pulp are amaizing, end of.

  • What can I say now? Love them

  • I love how people are saying the riff is bad when Pulp stole it from another song.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, maniaxzg is a douche. 'If the technique is bad, so is the tune'. Lol, in taht case, why even listen to music? Why not let's just watch a silent video of someone shredding guitar.

  • i love jarvis, so hot!!!

  • He has an interesting way with words. Not many other artists would use a line like 'you were the first girl at school to get breasts'. I actually don't know any other song that refers to breasts as... 'breasts'.

  • I used to listen to this all the time hanging out with friends back when it was released. We were 15 going on 16 and I used to listen to the line 'Let's all meet up in year 2000, won't it be strange when we're all fully grown?' and the year 2000 seemed so far away; being 'fully grown' seemed so far away. Now 10 years have passed since the year 2000. There is no moral or point in this story.

  • Surprise set at Glastonbury, unreallllllllllllllllllllllll

  • how tall is this man?!

  • Comment removed

  • He's only about 6'2". His lankiness, and standing on a raised platform makes him look taller. There's a video of him with Sacha Baron Cohen (as Ali G) who is 6'3" and he is taller than Jarvis.

  • Isle Of Wight Festival!!!!!!!!!

  • ya lets go

  • Lets all go back to the year 2000.

  • cant help it

  • Take anything from it, put anything to it, wouldn't be as perfect.

  • shit. Pulp, you're eating up all my time that I should otherwise be spending studying for finals....

    ...<3 you Pulp.

  • ive watched it again damn

  • i would be sick if i didnt watch it in a day may died if i cnt watch it in a week atleast darryl of philippines

  • 2:04 is the best part

  • i love the way he moves.....i always watch it 10 x a day nice move jarvis

  • what bass is steve using?

  • @Domydoor Musicman Sabre

  • I want the nineties back.

  • Sheffield! YAY!!!

  • the typical story of "the girl next door" was made one of the best songs ever by Pulp, what a band.

  • HAVE A LISTEN TO US, IF WE GET ENOUGH VIEWS WE WILL BE ON RADIO 1!

  • great... simply great...

  • i wonder if he did meet up with them in the year 2000? :)

  • I hate when I hear people compare Pulp to Blur, there worthy of coparison to Oasis.

  • @maniaxzg Jarvis can get more bitches' than you ever can so take your hate mail to someone who cares!

  • the sound starts like start me up by rolling stones

  • why is James Corden on drums?

  • Leeds 2011!

  • This song always reminds me of The Four Season's "Ragdoll". Anyone else see that?

  • Pulp to ply EP 2011!

  • the guitar is mega

  • @19911995 LOL ?! 0 riffs... 0 pull off's , 0 hammer on's , 0 tapping , nothing... just acords ;[ ... so don't say its mega...

  • @maniaxzg the sound of the guitar not the technique, fucking idiot. Just enjoy the tune

  • @19911995 Fuck the tune ... if the technique is lame then the tune is shitty too...

  • @maniaxzg Nothing wrong with his technique. This song is not supposed to be a shredding wankfest in the first place. Now scurry off and watch some Paul Gilbert instruction video introducing natural harmonics tapping exercises exploring the 5th mode of the Lydian scale while sporting tight pink spandex and a leather singlet.

  • @19911995 aahh i almost forgot... His voice is fkn GAY , the lyrics are meaningless , and the melodic is like Pop Music ; O

  • @maniaxzg Learn to spell properly you scumbag...

  • @maniaxzg dude if you don't like it don't watch it. Maybe if you could get out and actually see bands live you'd appreciate how rare and tbh pretty awesome bands like pulp are. plus you think his lyrics are bad? listen to Mis-Shapes. If that don't change ur mind then ur a douche. Cocker's a genius with words. end of.

  • @maniaxzg You are simply irrelevant.

  • @maniaxzg I think you need to learn something about guitars man, it doesn't have to be a ripping solo to be amazing. What about Nirvana Team Spirit? or Wake Me Up by Green day? Anything! Amazing guitar tunes without even bending a string or a single fancy effect.

  • @DecsyWest That what the shitty metal music does, everything related to it means guitar with tons of effects and the real melody can flow, fuck all that shit!

  • @maniaxzg The riff in this song will be remembered for far longer than you ever will be.

  • @maniaxzg Eh? How can you play chords without forming a riff?

Whilst I love good Guitar bands that churn out good and sometimes intricate riffs (Manics, Stone Roses, Oasis etc) not all great bands are defined by how many times they hammer on/pull off etc. Pulp are made awesome by all the melodies coming together and of course, Jarvis just being Jarvis

Though if you're judging a band purely by their guitarist then listen to This Is Hardcore - Mark Webber played some good stuff on that album

  • I think this wouldnt have played well at the actual disco 2000

  • I'm confused what does this have to do with disco2000?

  • great

  • i fuckin love jarvis cocker.

  • We have cover this song in back of 2001, when our band need some influence of various brit pop, we go into it, feel the rhythm. so yeah we also got a few song refer by this Disco 2000, it is awesome to get Pulp as our main factor to still alive, hell yeah!

  • Here in Chile there is a party called Disco 2000, is very popular among people who like to dance this kind of music. Almost every weekend with my friends going to the disco "Blondie" and we dance this

  • your story made me smile good on ya.. ...........hands up if you think mr burntoaktree is a cunt........... Mr burntoaktree i am afraid we are unanamous now fuck off!!

  • Let's all meet up in the year 2011, won't it be strange when we're all fully grown, be there 2 o'clock in Hyde Park down the road

    yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • cause we cant keep our eyes off the t shirt and ties combination

  • @xjackass420x Arctic Monkeys?

  • ISLE OF WIGHT 2011

  • what front man has dance moves like that these days i ask you?

  • I Absolutely love the music on The Brits' side of "The Pond"

I am so happy that I can fully access this music now. In "The States" the crap that makes air for the most part sucks. Internet = music freedom!

  • Si es medio gay por bailar asi, que seré yo. Love Jarvis!

  • YESTERDAY IS HERE!!!!!!

  • Medio gay?.. si lo miras con un solo ojo.. jeje. El tema buenísimo!!

  • definitely the most underrated band of britpop

  • es medio gay el vocalista

  • @arturgatoaysen resulta que no lo es en absoluto

  • wow! que hermosos ojos!!

  • From a distance, Jarvis looks like DJ Qualls

  • I walked past Jarvis at Glastonbury festival on a sunny afternoon. He was walking along, chatting to another bloke.

  • it drive me crazy :p why do i feel little bit sad?

  • I love that he's in Harry Potter! :D

  • why did they put jarvis standing on a box the mans tall enough as it is! love this song.

  • oo i love this band!

  • Love the old Brit pop songs much better than the modern crap lol

  • HEll YEah even though im a teenager but i prefer 90s britpop a whole lot and 60s music by far better than this Jonas brother rubbish and screamo music its all rubbish nowadays. Where has a sense of real music gone. btw Blur is also awesome but PULP is also awesome hah.

  • Jarvis Cocker is a lyrical genius!! -long live the jarv!!

  • love pulp, but in this video the singer isn´t in sync with the other musicians, looks like he wants to go faster

  • @mazepin

    No-one cares, its Jarvis!

  • In 94 i worked for yorkshire bank and i interveiwed jarvis about a loan to record this song,I was already a fan of several years and against my managers wishes i granted a £3000 loan for the recording...about 6 months later jarvis walked into the branch and repaid in cash!...and i got tickets to that nights gig at at sheff uni as a freebie for beliveing in him..a great geezer

  • love pulp, and love you for beliveing in him, well done.

  • i hope they were VIP tickets

but seriously what a nice thing to remember like that, pulp used to send free records to impoverished fans so why should this not be true

  • @MsBabster thats beautiful

  • @MsBabster That is rubbish because this was not their first song. Their first single was "do you remember the first time" in April 1994. Further more it says on your profile that you are 29. That means you were only 13 in 1994 when they recorded their first single and so could not have been working in a bank as you would still be at school.

  • @BurntOakTree A lot of women don't like to reveal their true age, and i noticed that when asked alot of htem will say 29 such as "Forever 29", when they are probably older. Also she said that she was a fan of the band already, and didn't say that this song was their first single as u had implied she did

  • @BurntOakTree Their first single was 'My Lighthouse' released in 1983 so get it right eh if your correcting someone else.

  • @BurntOakTree Their first song was 'Do You Remember The First Time'?????? What about 'My Legendary Girlfriend?. You ill-informed self important small pricked Utter Utter Utter Utter Utter Utter Cunt

  • @wigmeistergeneral I got the list of their song from wwwdoteveryhitdotcom so blame them as they only list the top 40 chart hits. Also I am not a fan of Pulp either, I used to listen to punk rock which is way much better music.

  • @BurntOakTree do one you penis

  • @BurntOakTree I don't understand. Pulp released their first single in 1983 - 'My Lighthouse' (from their first album 'It'). 'Do You Remember the First Time' was released 11 years later from 'His 'n' Hers' (their forth album).

  • @101skylark He probably means the first single they had that made it into the charts/ wasn't absolutely terrible.

  • @101skylark He probably means the first single they had that made it into the charts/wasn't absolutely terrible.

  • @BurntOakTree Their first single came out in 1983.

  • @MsBabster

    nice story! :)

  • @MsBabster Well that's simply bullshit. Is this how you spend your days? Posting fantasies on YouTube?

  • broken buiscuits and mile end is another two great songs also by pulp

  • I've loved this ever since it was released but what the hell kind of music is it?!

  • Britpop. Brilliant britpop.

  • amazing

  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however I believe that any Pulp fan would probably tell 'thehoff1982' that Pulp have more than two very good songs... I'm assuming you mean Disco2000 and Common People? Many Pulp fans wouldn't even say that these are either of their best songs... just the most mainstream. The different class album is one of the most complete albums I've ever heard... and His'n'Hers has some amazing tracks... If you've not heard "Underwear" give it a listen... immense!

  • I bought a CD of NOW 3 in 97 (green color) because it had the song Lemon Tree, but when I heard this song and Spacemen, I immediately got in love of my CD, unfortunately my CD got stolen when I went to the beach, and I am paying good money to have one of those again.., any offers around??

  • Gotta love the shoes!

    Pulp is just amazing.

  • this band is a greta example that you don't need a great singer to be a great band. Jarvis just has that charisma and a good voice, and it makes the difference... he doesn't sing any extraordinary, but Pulp songs are great, and were along with Suede, the best bands from britpop wave.

  • That's very true!

  • @nashistic i like u lol

    blluetones, blur all good bands

  • On 'This is Hardcore' his voice sounds a lot like David Bowie's which is very huge plus for me. Him singing like this sounds like a very early Bowie, Look up 'London Bye Ta-Ta' and 'Sell Me a Coat' from Bowie and you'll see.

  • correct, correct.

  • Of course it is, you are a silly Monkey!

  • Comment removed

  • no it isnt
