I know this is an old video, but I must comment. Where I live (New England) I would never store firewood anywhere near the house. The last thing you want to bring into your house is termites and carpenter ants, and the wood that I cut around here frequently is home to both.
I been watching few vids about stacking, splitting and racking but I always think that am doing it wrong. I split my wood using an felling axe great workout, I store my wood in my basement. I use 2 years old seasoned white Oak, and olive tree. Now I got one question, is it okay to stack my wood in my basement?
It sounds like you have good quality wood so I would not worry about storing a reasonable amount in the basement if i t doesn't pose a fire hazard. My brother stores wood in his basement separate from the room where he has his rec room and stove and brings it in from a ground level door into the basement . If the wood is in good condition and you use it up each year you should not have to worry about mold . Spiders may come in with the wood and mice like to nest in wood piles.
@artworkbykeith We start around MidNovember and to the end of March. The fire from wood gives the most pleasant warmth, but requires a lot of work. Good luck!
No, I consume it all each winter so ants aren't a problem. There are some spiders, and mice that like to move in for the winter though. The garage extends from the base of the house and has a deck on top of it, so it is quite separate from the inhabited portion of the house. Also I buy the wood in the spring of each year and stack it to dry all summer outside, then move it inside. We go through 5-6 bush cords each year.

That's a lot of wood, i guess you live up in the North. We use only about 1,5 tone each winter.

@kaziklu79 Yes, we start burning wood about the end of September and burn it all through March into April.
