This is beautiful. I in fact as a Belgian, have been living in Spain for a year now and you can actually love a place you're not born in because of the people and their mentality or the difference in environment. Hi Douglas! I know exactly how you feel because I also am an immigrant, though much older than you when I came to the USA. I am from Canada, and for a long time before I moved here, I really wanted to be an American. I immigrated 15 years ago with my husband and 6 children. We are now all proud American citizens, but even my husband doesn't really understand why I love the United States so much. This is the greatest country that has ever existed!
