  • What user has the video of the 250 going in the ditch?

  • channel is Iroquois14

video title is Kawasaki Ninja 250..... in a ditch

  • but what defines premium content?

  • Good question and in my not quite so objective view of capitalism it would be the market that makes the call.

If people willingly pay for a video then I guess that is the big part of my definition of "premium content."

I do welcome this as a start for any other views that agree or disagree. Send me the link and I will watch.

  • That would mean that either:

    1. all content is subject to the fees if it gets popular enough (that would suck for most people, unless there was a time->view threshold). Or ask people to donate(never happen).

    2. youtube becomes an internet tv station where production studios put big money into seeing content get popular (also sucks for most people, as their stuff will be buried).

either way, youtube charging would probably suck for the amateur video maker.

  • Sad to say your chance of being right if they try charging is probably 90%. I just hold out a tiny bit of hope that being Google is the owner they could be smart enough to make a profit from YouTube while leaving us vloggers alone to do our thing.

  • Too bad for the new rider. I hope he can get his bike sorted.

The only problem I can see (with y/t charging for tv series viewing) is that there are already sites that have television shows available for free viewing. Granted, they don't keep the full shows archived, but it's not uncommon to see a full season up. If they could get fully archived shows on or hard to find shows, they may just have something there.

  • That's correct. They have to do it exactly right and not charge more for the pay tv shows than the other sites. They also must provide all the same things people can get at the other sites. Because YouTube has a huge user base that would be where they could get the job done and make it work.

  • I sure hope we are able to have our free channels and content, the advertising capability of youtube is great. Your Bank there in Dundee looks like Downtown Howell, out by us, cool! And like Vipor said, if they start to charge... I'm outta here. :(

  • I think if the powers that be use their brains YouTube could do the advertising in commercial videos and leave us vloggers pretty much as it is now.

  • What's with the 10 minute length on here? I see some videos that are over an hour (I have proof if you need). Is there some type of charge for bandwidth after 10 minutes?

  • When YouTube started they let the director accounts have longer than the ten minute restriction. That has since changed for new director and other accounts. As far as I know there was no charge for it.

  • Wow! Someone who thinks exactly like I do.

Were you ON the road to perdition?

Dundee is a town near me too. Settled by Scots.

  • That's funny you ask that question I was among the people who crowded downtown the day before shooting when they had the town looking like the 30's. I have yet to actually watch the movie. My friends mom got to talk with Tom Hanks for about ten minutes between shots. Dundee here in Illinois was first settled by Germans and then the Scottish and Irish came later when it became a village and got the name.

  • I liked the movie. Tom Hanks always does a good job and he had a pretty good script to work with.

There is a good documentary called 'Chicago: City of the Century' which documents how Chicago and Illinois was settled. Very interesting. Chicago, which in it's early days thrived on unbridled capitalism, shows the first stirrings of what appears to be a never ending war between Labor (Socialism) and Capital (Capitalism) culminating into some rioting and deaths. A heck of a town!

  • I have always wished that the cable companies would have some type of a-la-carte service, so you could only pay for the channels you wanted. For me, that would be about 10 channels max/

  • Back when I was watching tv shows other than football it was all Discovery channel. I was thinking like you. It would be nice to pay maybe 15 dollars a month just for Discovery and forget the rest.

  • they start charging to vlog ill just go elsewhere..besides i do my game stuff on here so i could just move it elsewhere, hopefully we get a warning before they do it...i hardly watch tv..whats the point when you got tons of people to watch which is alot better than watching reruns of american idol LOL

  • Exactly, I don't mind them charging for watching TV shows here especially if it pays for keeping our stuff free. If not I move on to another place.
