Someone told me in 1968 they'd seen FK playing a LP gold top missing a peg on a tuner. He used a pair of pliars to bring that string to its proper open pitch.
Miss seeing Terry Hanck at the Fairs! First of all, I was always so surprised that he was playing such venues! Why he wasn't more known! Kills me cuz he's so talented! His sax blowing is amazing! Wish he played more in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!!!!
@plainjane0 Saw him open a Santa Cruz Blues Festival with his superb "Cryin' Fool" to absolutely zero response as the slobs coming in were just interested in getting situated for the day's partying. Really disgusting treatment of a fine performer, but that's the way it has always been.
he has it! What gets me, and what a lot of blues guitars players should get too, is how he builds this solos = he doesn't choke the chicken right off the bat - he comes up in steps, for two, and uses the last riff to build - always calling back on the signature. Thats hows its done people!
saw johnny with terry at the california state fair. it was a lot of fun to watch the crowd dancing to the blues. johnny hits the rhythm parts just so clean. i think terry used to play the fair with kid anderson. kid anderson is a great guitarist as well.

Brilliant! And very close to Freddie King's tone, but then again Freddie also recorded this tune on a Les Paul with P90's.

Lovely tone and smooth performance by Johnny Cat. This is one of his signature tunes. A Freddie King classic.
