Defense Spending is more important military spending. Military spending doesn't protect this country is just building more military base and retain military base in foreign nations.
Defense Secretary today is totally a moron! He is cutting defense spending which is threatening this country national security.
@SilentEagles You really believe that cutting the defense budget will "threaten" this country? What a joke. What a perfectly regurgitated republican talking point. You have NO idea how strong our defense is. We could stop 95% of our spending for the next 20 years and still be the dominant military force! Military bases in foreign lands only creates more enemies, not peace. Stop watching Fox News.
Wow the photos are great , at the end of the video the video they were moving to fast though. Just think 4000+ F16 so awesome we rule! Look out Iran when the morning sky turns dark with planes. Your nuke plants are toast.
@damoninsky How funny the "People who convinced you" what a fail, OK sure Iran's are best friend the Brits, Canada and Israel will be glad to hear that. Good god you're such a moron.
@bonkeydonkable Half of Iran totally suppors the U.S., the younger generation; it's only a matter of time before the older, religious nut-balls fade away. It's sad how many morons are out there that want war when time and diplomacy will achieve peace. How dare you call me a moron when you obviously watch FOX and voted for Bush.
@damoninsky Ya half of Iraq and Afghanistan totally supports the US to. Only a matter of time? We have been at war with them for years all ready. How many rockets and IED's and terrorists must they export before your ready to fight? Iran's Nuclear programs will be destroyed. There's no way those crazy Muslims get a Nuke and after Iran, Pakistan's next bitch! And of course Fox News the Zionist Bankers and all are pals will be there to help. Were so powerful we could care less what MSNBC thinks
@bonkeydonkable We should never have been in Iraq or Afghanistan, neither of them attacked us. Actually, the U.S. is responsible the Mujahadeen, we trained the Afghanis...WE contribute to selling weapons around the world. WE have established military bases and a presence on THEIR land. Why are you so scared of Iran when North Korea and Pakistan already has nukes. Look at what is going down, Tunisia, Egypt, Lybia, Syria...revolutions, the U.S. doesn't need to start wars for peace.
@damoninsky Well thanks for pointing out all the rabid Muslim baboons the US has to deal with. I already stated Pakistan's next. So we just take it one nut case at a time. Lucky for us were so powerful its easy work, the planes and the Aircraft carriers are already built. Good thing we did not waste the money on solar panels, o wait I guess 500 million was lost o well. I hope we have learned a lesson here and will let the private sector marketplace dictate these expenditures .
@damoninsky Whats up with you and Fox News? Just because there ratings are 5 times the size of CNN and MSNBC that's no reason to hate them. And of course conservatives never watch CSPAN or get there information from any other news outlets. How laughable that you pick on Fox News as the evil ringleader, that's all you have? Millions of American conservatives depend on Fox news to air really hot news chicks that's all. I rarely see anything on Fox that I did not know or think already.
@bonkeydonkable I don't hate because of ratings, I hate because of how biased it is. Not only that it's biased, but that their agenda is very CONSERVATIVE.
@damoninsky Easy with the upper case ya don't have to yell. So millions of Americans are conservative and millions are liberal you guys have MSNBC we have FOX fair enough . So who wins the minds of the voters is based on how much red meat we both chuck. Sound like a fun fight to me good luck, this free speech deal is working great. If we win everything you liberals want is doomed, no solar panels for you, but extra bunker busters for us. I'am sure Iran has your back that's one vote for you.
@bonkeydonkable I'm not yelling, I'm italicizing. I don't watch MSNBC. I don't have TV. I get my info from actual journalism. If republicans win, everyone except the wealthiest 1% are doomed. If liberals win, everyone wins. This country is full of idiots. Half of the people don't even vote. This leaves this "democracy" to elect congress with 25% of the people; most who which voted based on disinformation and ignorance.
@damoninsky That's so sad no TV the Horror! And please, we love our disinformation on the right. We have large think tanks that churn out tons of it daily. We depend on the the half of the people not to vote, we could be F if they did. We also depend on the 1% to send us checks, there nothing like getting a big fatty from Chase or JPM to put on a nice smile. So you must be very lonely, all that liberal planing and the voters are to ignorant, to realize they need your control.
@bonkeydonkable Not much of your comment made any sense to me. The 1% don't write us checks. Banks don't write us checks. 75% of all voters are ignorant. You're obviously one of those 75%, thanks for admitting it.
@damoninsky Of course not liberals never get it whats new? Banks and the 1% never Write checks? Well maybe not to you troll but my families real estate brokerage gets them every day. We sell homes and investment properties to a wide range of the so called 1% we even hold are noses and sell to the top 5% on slow days. Banks depend on us to sell then they write checks its so amazing. But your right banks forgot to send you one how sad. You think trickle down is bad, how funny.
@bonkeydonkable Ah, I see, you're using yourself to compare to the rest of the country. It must be nice to sit there on the top, less moral, guilt-free and still believing in Milton Friedman economics.
@damoninsky I was just comparing myself to people who work hard. We feel no guilt for doing so. And I assure the reason we have a brokerage licence is we are very moral. The state requires all brokerages to act with high ethics. So good old Milton now you get it, lots of rich people employing everyone that's our dream. Down with luxury taxes up with big tickets, jets and boats and oil wells humming 24/7. How do think we afforded all those B52's and A10's in the first place?
@bonkeydonkable So sad. There isn't a single person in this country that didn't get to the top without help (either from inheritance, family or government). Everyone depends on assistance. There are millions of people who work hard and who will never get out of poverty because of people like you.
@damoninsky Who in hell is talking about the top. Millions of people like me work hard everyday of are lives so what? Then we die the last thing we want is someone like you telling us what to do . That why we study and learn every trick in the liberal handbook so we can stop your kind cold. We understand everything you think and say don't kid yourself. Ya ya your so smart everybody else just can't understand or we would let you rule us.
@bonkeydonkable Hmm, interesting how why we were able to elect a "socialist, ultra-liberal" president. What do you mean by "telling us what to do"? You prefer to have an unregulated society where the luckiest people get to make the laws and pollute the land? Personally, I would prefer a more balanced and just society, where the luckiest people don't get to "tell us how it's gonna be". Your handbook consists of disinformation and fear mongering.
@damoninsky Yep your 100% right Obama is a socialist ultra liberal president no question about that. So after the first two years we lucky people took back control of the House, and now we can stop his agenda cold he cant really do shit. So what a happy outcome we win . Going forward if we win complete control are goal is to set you free from luck . We want you to start your own business and keep 90% of all the money you make to expand and hire more people. Were so evil its a joke.
We aren't even using any these war machines. Its called the industrial military complex, it started after WWII. The Cold War and the Space Race are both products of this condition.
all the US has is her military. The size of one's military determines how much power one holds(i.e. USSR, Nazis, Imperial Japan, Colonial Britain, Colonial france, etc.) We need the military" that was your quote. nope USSR ,millions died in the gulag,in famines in purges, Nazis 6million Jews, countless more eastern Europeans, Japan millions of Chinese, Colonial Britain / France, millions of its colonial subjects from Famine, and brutal working conditions imposed by the colonial powers
@priusgas Yeah, North Korea sucks far worse than we do. If we really cared about helping other people (other than Americans) wouldn't we go and do something about it? Than answer is no, not in NK because we actually don't care about helping others, but rather stealing their resources (which N.K. has none of).
hey fighting dirty, the countries that spend more money as % lf gdp are saudia arabia, other oil rich arab states , isreal, and though not offical north korea, all of them have enemies right at their door step, we spend way more money as % of gdp than Iran
Defense needs to be cut but this video makes it sound as if we need to get rid of all ships, subs, and jets so we can cover all of the uninsured and spend the rest on solar plants. Slashing the military is a horrible thing to do but a simple 15% cut in defense would do America well.
@Patriot150792 It shouldn't suggest we get rid of all military; it simply points out how much we spend and on what. Considering how much we do spend, we could cut 85% and still be well protected.
All they have to do, to make the world a MUCH better place, is cut that budget in half, and spend it on something good instead of that fucking military. Basicaly what they're doing. Why spend 60 billion on clean energy, when we can make a new jet fighter!!
@Afrikanglobal The reason people drink form shit water is that their too fucking stupid not to shit in it! HAHAHA fucking retards! America is a world power and the youngest country, how did that happen? Oh wait, I know, everyone wants us dead. So unless you want to be dead or a slave, shut the fuck up and let people do their jobs.
this military spending is worse than everything else combined in discretionary spending! time to write letters, sign petitions, and find community members to together support a HUGE reduction in "offense department" spending
and actually, from later figures I've seen, we spend more like $711 billion/year and that's just what's actually on the books. The "off the books" dollars are far, far higher.
@XxFightinDirtyxX It's people like you who are responsible screwing up this country. Ignorant people should not be able to vote. You should have to take a test to vote. First off, you are so absurdly wrong and retarded about our annual GDP, you won't even take two minutes to look it up. Second of all, yes, we do spend the most on foreign aid, but that's only because we have the most money. The % of our GDP we spend on foreign aid is much SMALLER than most other countries, it's UNhonorable.
@brianshan1 I'm proud of you for attempting to seek knowledge, however it is more difficult than you think. It requires much more reading and analyzing than what you just did. That $14 Billion is our national debt. That's how much we are in debt, how much we owe other countries and private companies. Look up U.S. annual GDP.
@XxFightinDirtyxX WHAAAATTT? WE don't make 14 trillion per year, are you crazy???? We make less than 2 Trillion! 2/3 of our national debt is due to spending on defense. We only spend 6 cents out of every hundred dollars on foreign aid. When the tsunami hit Indonesia in 2004 (200,000 people died), we spent a smaller % of our GDP than any other country. HALF of our aid goes to Israel (for military purposes) and Egypt (to not attack Israel). You are SO misinformed. Go get reading.
If they cut military spending that much then the citizens of the US will realize that the reason their petroleum is still affordable is that it is taken at gun point, from nations that would sell it for a fair price to anyone willing to buy it. The military is most likely keeping the US alive right now by extorting natural resources at the behest of corporate america. Brown people suffer and die at gun point for are richest 1% to live like kings.
No one needs to invade the US because America already lost WW3. There war wasn't about killing millions of Americans. The war was economics. America was so afraid of the rest of the world that it made itself broke on defense. What is America now? All military, all time record debt, and still in fear. To think that America needed all this defense against country's smaller than most states lol.
Its a pretty strong indicator. Besides I think most people miss the fact that most of the people truly profiting off of our military exploits around the world will not be affected if we are invaded. The true men behind the curtain, the owners and shadow government pulling the strings will be able to relocate quit easily as their wealth is very likely placed in accounts around the world. We are just being exploited by a small number of meglomaniacs and its saddens me deeply.
You do realize that the only reason China hasn't invaded us is cause of our military right? I mean, imagine if our military was as crappy as Iraq. I mean, srsly, China would not allow us to not pay for soo long. Military budget is very important, and those who oppose it don't know a thing about the military or the World politics
@USparatroopersurgeon Why do you think this? Why haven't they invaded any other country? We saved them during WWII, why do you think they want to invade us? What evidence do you have for this, please share. China knows we're good for our debts, it's really not hard to fix our debt crisis (just stop voting republicans into office and the problem is solved). Why is the budget so important? We spend more on it than every other country in the world combined! It couldn't be used other ways?
@damoninsky We saved the world's ass in WWII and the world currently hates us. Think logically, if Kuwait owed Iraq money Iraq would have invaded it. Similarly, Iraq invaded Kuwait cause Iraq owed Kuwait money. Do you think Iraq would have fucked with Kuwait if it had a great military? Currently, all the US has is her military. The size of one's military determines how much power one holds(i.e. USSR, Nazis, Imperial Japan, Colonial Britain, Colonial france, etc.) We need the military
@USparatroopersurgeon Obviously, the world doesn't hate us because of WWII; they hate us for what we've done with our powers SINCE WWII. If another country was invading another sovereign country today, the UN (or NATO) would step in with multi-national powers (except if it was the US, then they can't do shit). If you want a democracy, then you can't be the ruler and do everything you want unilaterally. Try diplomacy and cooperation, rather than force. Might is NOT right.
@grecorivera Yeah, that's cause they over expanded themselves and fought 2 to 3 front wars. Just cause you have a kick ass military doesn't mean that a country is going to do bad.
@USparatroopersurgeon (i.e. USSR, Nazis, Imperial Japan, Colonial Britain, Colonial france, etc.) you do realize that each of those empires were responsible for the deaths of millions of their citizens? right, why would we want to be like any of them
@priusgas Only about two of those countries you listed sent its citizens to their deaths. The United States is Nothing like any of those countries you just listed. We are an entirely separate category, which is probably one of the best categories in history. As far as our military goes, there's nothing wrong with having a kick ass military. Besides, you need a good military to protect a nation full of whiny bitches.
@BanzaiLUKE I don't consider myself stupid. The $1 million investment isn't just equipment, but training, salaries, extra expenditures as well. They are the best equipped in the world (many times over). You seemed to have missed the entire point of my video. I suggest you watch it again.
And with all that technological and military might they couldn't stop an old dude living in a cave and on dialysis and 19 dudes with $1 box cutters. LOL
With all that scientific and military technology they couldn't beat a bunch of Vietnamese peasants or win a war against Afghanistan tribesmen who still think it's the middle ages.
Yeah, real smart, America. LOL. You're going the way of every other empire but you're too proud to acknowledge your stupidity and reverse course.
@BanzaiLUKE You are insane to believe this nonsense. Each and every one of those have been upgraded to the max. Each soldier is equal to over $1 million.
@BanzaiLUKE Unfortunately, our men and women have been carelessly led into fighting unjustified wars (by the republicans) and are dying for no good reason even with those "highest quality" items. Maybe if spent more money on education, foreign aid, and diplomatic conflict resolution issues instead nukes, ships, and fighter jets, we'd have more peace in this world.
@damoninsky I don't know about that one. According to a documentary, 59% of Americans wanted to go to war, even if it meant innocent lives were to be taken after 9/11.
@ShadowofaRoar So what. The mainstream (corporate) media contributed to the accidental deception to the population. People aren't smart enough to look further and deeper than Fox News or CNN.
@Allisoninsky Government media isn't that great either. They could justify any war they wanted and tout how awesome they are at running everything. In particular, I was trying to refer to you laying sole blame on the Republicans. I personally don't believe that. But I do agree the military budget's too high. Last time I checked, about twice the runner up.
@ShadowofaRoar What's "government media"? I'm talking about obtaining information from professors and journalists from all over the world who have studied and written extensively on the subject matter. I definitely don't put sole blame on the Republicans, but they are simply more evil than the Democrats.
@damoninsky I'm sorry, I should had said "wasn't" or "wouldn't" be better, and I find the notion that Republicans are "more evil" than Democrats ridiculous. There are people that are crooks and make it obvious, then there are people that are better at hiding it.
@ShadowofaRoar I shouldn't have said "evil" (that's simply the rhetoric that gets tossed around). Since the Republicans are more about protecting the wealthiest people and not about spending government money to help the less unfortunate and country, I label them as severely less moral than the Dems. However, I condemn both parties for being a slave to big business, and true change for the better will never come with these fundamentals.
@damoninsky I agree. That's why I don't watch TV for news involving politics anymore. However, if it were so simple no one would vote Republican. I believe in helping people, but I also believe there should be limits. My reasons for this is so they don't become dependent. Examples of this I've personally experienced are: my lousy cousin who's living with me who quit every job by the second week, and a guy who kept asking me for money until I stopped meeting him.
@ShadowofaRoar I completely agree that there should be limits too. Welfare is a problem because people take advantage of it, but it also is tremendously helpful for people who are honest, hard-working citizens. If most people really knew how uncaring the Republicans were to the majority of Americans, they would certainly not vote for them; unfortunately, there exists very convincing media programs and very easily manipulative people everywhere.
@damoninsky There's manipulation on all sides. Caring would depend on your point of view. Republicans work at a different angle. While Democrats work directly to help people, Republicans work indirectly to make it easier for producers so the burden of price is eased on the consumers. That's the general idea, anyway. Of course, nothing's ever so simple, and corruption makes it hard for any idea to work.
we are a hegemonic power we are the rome of the modern era and like rome we will fall is we continue on the path that rome had stomped before us. we must withdraw or troops substantially (70% or more) from the various places around the world, regrow our manufacturing power, bring our credit rating back up, remove the UN from our borders and let another country be the host for a while, and pay our international debts. And then watch the world take at it's throat whien we're no playing police.
I think WW2 made america change a lot! They said we don't want an invasion ever again! In WW2 USA stayed to themselves and look what happened! Pearl harbor was a huge mess with fires and planes hitting ships and buildings! WW2 made USA grow some big ass balls and said were running the show now if everyone wants to go crazy!
@jacobg1777 Times have changed. The unification of countries has never happened before. If anyone tries to take over another country, others will step in (unless your the powerful U.S., then they can't do anything). We have emerged into a new world, approaching peace between countries. No longer do we need a single bullying policeman (the U.S.) watching over the rest of the world (who looks out for himself instead of others).
You have to have a tough military if the rest of the world hates you! So there you have it, thats why we have a high budget military because we would be invaded by the rest of the world if we didn't! I like to come home safe and sound! I want to have kids! I want a good life with out worrying about other countries invading! So all you folks who think otherwise you might as well kill youself cause you would die by another military if we didn't have a strong one! Sorry if u think otherwise!!!!!
@jacobg1777 The reason why the rest of the world hates us is BECAUSE we are so tough that we interviene in other countries business. If we invested in helping other countries, as opposed to making them do what we wanted by force or threat, fewer people would want to destroy us. Take just half of what we spend annually, and we could save millions and millions of lives in foreign aid. What we do and provide now is an absolute joke. The days of countries going to war is over. UN, NATO, EU...
@Allisoninsky I agree with you! If the US were to lower the budget on there military expense it would make us more vulnerable to an attack. Once pearl harbor was invaded I think that the US stop trusting any other country! WW2 changed alot of things! US stayed out of the whole mess until we were invaded! We kept to ourselves in WW2 and still got raided! So keeping to ourselves isn't much of an answer, it just means that we don't want any problems and people can see weakness! US had enough in WW2
@jacobg1777 Reducing our military budget will absolutely NOT make us more vulnerable to an attack. Having less fighter planes, destroyers, and nuclear weaponry will not stop the tiny numbers of terrorists. If you want to reduce possible attacks, then we should finance and deploy peaceful organizations, NOT military. WW2 definitely changed things, for the better, look at the world now...hardly ANY more countries are attacking one another (except us, WE, the U.S., is one of the last problems)!
What is your source for your discretionary spending pie chart? The numbers are misleading. the US military is run from less than 1/20 of the GDP. You use Aircraft in your slideshow that were built a little at a time over the 60's, 70's, 80's and of course some newer. Most C-5's are from the 60's for example. B-1 and B-2 are from the 80's, none have been built/purchased in over 20 years. Without the military protecting your freedom of speech/our ideals somebody would have killed damonsky long ago
@jaydak99 Where in the world did you get your information that military spending is less than 1/20 of the GDP? You must be watching FOX. It's clearly over half or nearly half (depending on if you take into considering other defense spending). I beg you to look this up. You're right that many of these planes aren't currently being built, but my idea was to simply show the massive weaponry we waste our money on. Freedom of speech is now secure. Ease up on spending. Let a UN, NATO, EU help.
It's nice to think that our military has "kept this world relatively safe and prosperous" considering all of the horrific times we set up dictators and assassinated democratically elected leaders in numerous countries (see my American Imperialism videos). We live in completely different times now. Waring countries are diminishing, now we must stop religious freaks (not governments), it takes spreading peace, not military might. Use this money to help countries instead of force build weapons.
What is wrong with you people? Why can't you see that it's the US Military that has kept this world relatively safe and prosperous for the last 80 years? There has never been any other serious challenge to hundreds of ruthless dictators since WW2.
Now, we face a debt crisis that threatens to remove that world stabilizing influence. And why? Because of massive insane redistribution of wealth to people who didn't earn it.
The weakened USA military was almost entirely responsible for WW 1, and the initial weak position of the USA was mostly responsible for WW2. Both wars would have been averted had the US military been at the strength it is today. Since WW2, the US military has been strong enough to prevent additional world wars. What will happen when the US military is radically reduced?
It's true that the US military is very expensive, and it will likely be seriously reduced. Then, watch the Hitlers, Bin Ladins, Mubaricks, Al Quedas, Hebullahs, and all the other tyrants, spring up around the world to dominate their areas with no checks to their power. Then, in the not too distant future, expect them to invade the USA.
Without the military influence the USA has applied throughout the world, none of the other things that the poster proposes (hospitals, schools, clean drinking water, health care, etc., etc., etc.). Without a powerful force like the USA military, every corner of the earth would be ruled by tyrants who line their own pockets on the backs of the very people this poster proposes to distribute the wealth to.
As we all know through history, military empire is entirely self-defeating. Rome, British and Ottoman Empire, Soviet Union - and we're next, except the others didn't bring the rest of the world down as we will. And the blame is on the American people for not stopping the insanity.
Not only that we must do, but we must cut the spending we send to Military projects. We need to focus more on problems at home like education, the need for renewable energy, and more.
Its time to put the breaks on US imperialism once and for all.
We have hundreds of military basis all around the world on other peoples land. Lets cut them. Once we figure out an exit strategy for the middle east, lets just stay out of foreign intervention. Lets stop chucking Billions into the military of Israel and Egypt. I am quite aware they they are capable of supplying their own military.
Americans are so fanatical about their country that they'd start a second holocaust if they were told to. Well, I guess all the media has to do now is forge a reason to begin world domination, and all you other countries are screwed. Honestly, what's wrong with most Americans these days? I would choose humanity over patriotism any day.
@monkeylx1 Fear is the main reason; mainly perpetuated by the conservative (right-wing, religious) party which equates to about half of the country. Go Humanity!
Well, maintaining an Empire requires plenty of money. Ask the British how much theirs used to cost them. Ask the Mongols, the Romans. All Empires require bigger and bigger expenditures the larger the Empire gets.
@damoninsky Haha, that's cute. Hey, here's an idea, use that money to help your mother buy comdoms. Pay and train people to help provide clean sex for her, build whorehouses, farm donkeys, enhance orgasms, increase Planned Parenthood funds, whorecare...that's right there is millions of jobs, plus everyone that uses your mother's services would be THANKFUL instead of VENGEFUL for her whoreness.
Just like an un-American, wine sipping liberal fuck-wad to misrepresent facts and actually present some complete fallacies to get your worthless opinion across. If it wasn't for the United States military, who would protect American's right to spread caustic, misinformed messages? And a lot of the annual defense budget is put into American businesses and pays American workers.
@beegeclark Haha, that's cute. Hey, here's an idea, use that money to help people around the world. Pay and train people to help provide clean drinking watere, build schools, farm sustainably, enhance transportation, increase Planned Parenthood funds, healthcare...that's right there is millions of jobs, plus the rest of the world would be THANKFUL instead of VENGEFUL for our actions.
@RcNdi Dude, you're right...how did that happen?!! I'm shocked, I guess I was moving too much around at once during the editing process. Thanks for pointing that out.
the american educational system is the 16th best on the planet so we are not lagging behind the rest of the world just europe japan and no shit cuba lol cuba has great educational system but we still do better than most nations and were like 2 or 3 in literacy
@jeremytheknight We're actually 19th out of the 34 studied (industrialized) countries nowhere near the top for literacy. Go look at the OECD website for actual stats. Say goodbye to the U.S. super power. At least we still have a fat, diabetic, lazy, gun-toting, material-consuming, ignorant, racist, Tea-Partying, corporation-ruled, anti-civil-rights, war-mongering, Christian nation! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!
@damoninsky wow that is very different than the last set of information i had seen however seems to be real but US super power wont be gone anytime soon
But what I dont understand is this. Germany Wikipedia said: Military budget is 700 Billion (2010) national budget is 2100 Billion (2009) But gross domestic product is 14 Trillion so is Millitary Budget now ca. 33% from national budget
but just 4 % of gross domestic product. And this 4% is the argument of weapon industrie. What can I say against this.
@Munic92 I'm pretty sure that $14 trillion is our national debt. Our total annual revenue for 2009 was about 2.4 $trillion (but we spend way more than that).
@Munic92 Gross Domestic Product is the total worth of all the economic activity in your country. It is by no means the amount of money the government has access to. I think that using % of annual government budget is a better indicator of how much a government service is costing taxpayers, both in terms of nominal costs and the costs of opportunity.
@Munic92 The GDP is not a measure of what the government can use to pay for its expenses. The GDP is an aggregate approximation of the value of all production in a country. In short, its everybody's economic activity for the year, combined. Sure, the US has US$14 Trillion in GDP, but what the government has to pay for its US$600 Billion military and its US$14 Trillion debt is much smaller. Unless you all agreed to have taxes increased to 100% for everyone, there's no way you can keep it going.
@Munic92 Thanks for your interest and concern. I found most of the military prices from wikipedia then cross referenced them with other sites (didn't find many discrepancies). The costs of schools, hospitals, etc...I found from various sites and took their average to compare with the ships and planes. The defense military budget is no secret, and can be found on any government website.
It seems to me that the majority of all americans are more than just dumb. The american finance budget is so over-indebted that the whole world will pay for your consumption! Get this! Ever heard of money stock M3? Did you know that your glorious debt-based government abandoned publication of this money amount few years ago, because your central bank is just printing and printing? Did you know that your trade deficit is as big as it never was? China and India get you! Wake up!
@TobyTobsen82 our dept by percentage of gdp has been much higher than it is currently so your wrong about our trade deficit look up us dept after ww2 (retard) and furthermore the us is vital to china as its number one consumer, and if we didn't borrow both economy's would fail because 40% of chinas goods are purchased here. true that their is more than one issue in a long term sustainment of this current system but for now it is the best option to sustain both global trade and global order
@TobyTobsen82 il admit before you talk shit neither has been our forte lately and btw you need to spend more time studying the dynamics of global trade b4 you call my national compatriots dumb cuz your just ignorant (thats a smart way of saying your a fucking shit tard)
I'll be honest here, I have a pretty easy life. I've never had money troubles, housing problems, or been short on food. I am not rich by any means, it's just my family and I have always been good with managing money. And the way i see it, the US military protects my way of life. Coming from an American tax paying citizen, I have no problem with our defense budget. I'd gladly pay it twice if it means I can continue to live my way of life.
@Big2000Powerstroke I'm actually in the same boat you are; but whose to say that by taking out 1/8 of the budget will affect your life, or taking out a 1/4 or even just 1/2 of it for a single year? Even if we reduce it by 85%, it will still dominate the world. Even if we stop building anything new for the next decade, we'll STILL be dominating. Aircraft carriers and fighter jets don't make us more safe. If we used this $ to help countries, we wouldn't have to worry so much about defense.
@damoninsky I understand where you're coming from about how outlandish our defense budget is. But to reduce the defense budget, say by 25%, and send that money elsewhere like to our education system or over seas to help needy countries, then that doesn't really solve the problem in the first place of our military spending too much money. The money would just be shifted elsewhere. To truly solve the problem, the money would have to be cut entirely, and not spent at all.
@damoninsky oh thats funny, the stuff our military uses doesnt keep countries safe? i sure think it does. It'd be a whole new military, and a change for the worse at that, if we took away 85% of the budget.
@Big2000Powerstroke Personally, I destest theives, especially those is suits who pretend to be our friends, steal a loaf of bread, go to jail, these war profiteers must be held accountable, Millions of childrens lives destroyed in Iraq alone for oil and opium control., money, truly sick.
Just imagine all the great things we could do with the amount of money if the military budget were even halved.. and it would still be the biggest in the world by far. whey spend so much? for what? and yet the US education system is far behind many other countries, university costs are prohibitive, people are left with no insurance. these problems could be solved! we watch everything BUT the military get cut.
@pseudonamed It's because of the military that we have everything you mentioned in the first place. If there's one area I DON'T want my country to cut back on, it would be our military.
@Big2000Powerstroke man from outside america we are all bombarded with propaganda that america defends the democracy freedom etc ,and they are the good guys ,but instead it's obvious americans want to be conquerors they want to have an empire they want the oil by any means from other countries ,no american would agree to have gas prices 2 times higher than today as in europe ,if put to the choice the american public will vote 70% to invade irak than to pay that ,4,5% US- 1,5% EU military .
@iooo007 America does defend democracies. North Korea killed two South Korean marines, so what do we do? Send an aircraft carrier. Shut them up real quick. When you say "Americans want an empire", I hope you're being sarcastic. Turn on the local news on any station in the states, all people are screaming about is to stop spending, stop expanding, stop getting involved with other countries. It's our government officials that change their agenda once they get elected. Not the public's fault....
@Big2000Powerstroke man you are conflicting your statements at first you want protection it's obvious that americans want oil want to live in suburbia these are all conected to having an empire so it doesn't matter if the general public doesn't put those two togheter this is it you lose your empire you have to live like i europe things that the american public does not want at all ,and with north korea it's true in half NK is more dangerous than iran but you don't atack bcz they don't have oil .
@iooo007 I'm not conflicting myself at all. US veterans are considered heroes here. Americans love our military and support it them in every way. What we don't support is getting involved in foreign affairs that spend needless amounts of money. Our government is retarded. All they do is spend more and more. Foreigner's perceptions of Americans are skewed thanks to the way our government acts. Talking to an American, you'll find all we want is to be left alone.
@pseudonamed I completely agree that the US education system is lagging behind the rest of the world, but that's not because it's under-funded due to military spending. In fact, the US spends more money per child on the education system than any other country, but we don't see results. We need to change the system and how we teach, instead of just pumping more money into a failing system.
Defense Spending is more important military spending. Military spending doesn't protect this country is just building more military base and retain military base in foreign nations.
Defense Secretary today is totally a moron! He is cutting defense spending which is threatening this country national security.
SilentEagles 6 days ago
@SilentEagles You really believe that cutting the defense budget will "threaten" this country? What a joke. What a perfectly regurgitated republican talking point. You have NO idea how strong our defense is. We could stop 95% of our spending for the next 20 years and still be the dominant military force! Military bases in foreign lands only creates more enemies, not peace. Stop watching Fox News.

@bonkeydonkable Half of Iran totally suppors the U.S., the younger generation; it's only a matter of time before the older, religious nut-balls fade away. It's sad how many morons are out there that want war when time and diplomacy will achieve peace. How dare you call me a moron when you obviously watch FOX and voted for Bush.
damoninsky 1 week ago
@damoninsky Ya half of Iraq and Afghanistan totally supports the US to. Only a matter of time? We have been at war with them for years all ready. How many rockets and IED's and terrorists must they export before your ready to fight? Iran's Nuclear programs will be destroyed. There's no way those crazy Muslims get a Nuke and after Iran, Pakistan's next bitch! And of course Fox News the Zionist Bankers and all are pals will be there to help. Were so powerful we could care less what MSNBC thinks
bonkeydonkable 1 week ago
@bonkeydonkable We should never have been in Iraq or Afghanistan, neither of them attacked us. Actually, the U.S. is responsible the Mujahadeen, we trained the Afghanis...WE contribute to selling weapons around the world. WE have established military bases and a presence on THEIR land. Why are you so scared of Iran when North Korea and Pakistan already has nukes. Look at what is going down, Tunisia, Egypt, Lybia, Syria...revolutions, the U.S. doesn't need to start wars for peace.
damoninsky 1 week ago
@damoninsky Well thanks for pointing out all the rabid Muslim baboons the US has to deal with. I already stated Pakistan's next. So we just take it one nut case at a time. Lucky for us were so powerful its easy work, the planes and the Aircraft carriers are already built. Good thing we did not waste the money on solar panels, o wait I guess 500 million was lost o well. I hope we have learned a lesson here and will let the private sector marketplace dictate these expenditures .
bonkeydonkable 1 week ago
@bonkeydonkable The only people that will learn a lesson from this are the same people that find their opinions by watching FoxNews.
damoninsky 1 week ago
@damoninsky Whats up with you and Fox News? Just because there ratings are 5 times the size of CNN and MSNBC that's no reason to hate them. And of course conservatives never watch CSPAN or get there information from any other news outlets. How laughable that you pick on Fox News as the evil ringleader, that's all you have? Millions of American conservatives depend on Fox news to air really hot news chicks that's all. I rarely see anything on Fox that I did not know or think already.
bonkeydonkable 1 week ago
@bonkeydonkable I don't hate because of ratings, I hate because of how biased it is. Not only that it's biased, but that their agenda is very CONSERVATIVE.
damoninsky 1 week ago
@damoninsky Easy with the upper case ya don't have to yell. So millions of Americans are conservative and millions are liberal you guys have MSNBC we have FOX fair enough . So who wins the minds of the voters is based on how much red meat we both chuck. Sound like a fun fight to me good luck, this free speech deal is working great. If we win everything you liberals want is doomed, no solar panels for you, but extra bunker busters for us. I'am sure Iran has your back that's one vote for you.
bonkeydonkable 1 week ago
@bonkeydonkable I'm not yelling, I'm italicizing. I don't watch MSNBC. I don't have TV. I get my info from actual journalism. If republicans win, everyone except the wealthiest 1% are doomed. If liberals win, everyone wins. This country is full of idiots. Half of the people don't even vote. This leaves this "democracy" to elect congress with 25% of the people; most who which voted based on disinformation and ignorance.
damoninsky 1 week ago
@damoninsky That's so sad no TV the Horror! And please, we love our disinformation on the right. We have large think tanks that churn out tons of it daily. We depend on the the half of the people not to vote, we could be F if they did. We also depend on the 1% to send us checks, there nothing like getting a big fatty from Chase or JPM to put on a nice smile. So you must be very lonely, all that liberal planing and the voters are to ignorant, to realize they need your control.
bonkeydonkable 6 days ago
@bonkeydonkable Not much of your comment made any sense to me. The 1% don't write us checks. Banks don't write us checks. 75% of all voters are ignorant. You're obviously one of those 75%, thanks for admitting it.
damoninsky 6 days ago
@damoninsky Of course not liberals never get it whats new? Banks and the 1% never Write checks? Well maybe not to you troll but my families real estate brokerage gets them every day. We sell homes and investment properties to a wide range of the so called 1% we even hold are noses and sell to the top 5% on slow days. Banks depend on us to sell then they write checks its so amazing. But your right banks forgot to send you one how sad. You think trickle down is bad, how funny.
bonkeydonkable 5 days ago
@bonkeydonkable Ah, I see, you're using yourself to compare to the rest of the country. It must be nice to sit there on the top, less moral, guilt-free and still believing in Milton Friedman economics.
damoninsky 5 days ago
@damoninsky I was just comparing myself to people who work hard. We feel no guilt for doing so. And I assure the reason we have a brokerage licence is we are very moral. The state requires all brokerages to act with high ethics. So good old Milton now you get it, lots of rich people employing everyone that's our dream. Down with luxury taxes up with big tickets, jets and boats and oil wells humming 24/7. How do think we afforded all those B52's and A10's in the first place?
bonkeydonkable 5 days ago
@bonkeydonkable So sad. There isn't a single person in this country that didn't get to the top without help (either from inheritance, family or government). Everyone depends on assistance. There are millions of people who work hard and who will never get out of poverty because of people like you.
damoninsky 5 days ago
@damoninsky Who in hell is talking about the top. Millions of people like me work hard everyday of are lives so what? Then we die the last thing we want is someone like you telling us what to do . That why we study and learn every trick in the liberal handbook so we can stop your kind cold. We understand everything you think and say don't kid yourself. Ya ya your so smart everybody else just can't understand or we would let you rule us.
bonkeydonkable 5 days ago
@bonkeydonkable Hmm, interesting how why we were able to elect a "socialist, ultra-liberal" president. What do you mean by "telling us what to do"? You prefer to have an unregulated society where the luckiest people get to make the laws and pollute the land? Personally, I would prefer a more balanced and just society, where the luckiest people don't get to "tell us how it's gonna be". Your handbook consists of disinformation and fear mongering.
damoninsky 5 days ago
@damoninsky Yep your 100% right Obama is a socialist ultra liberal president no question about that. So after the first two years we lucky people took back control of the House, and now we can stop his agenda cold he cant really do shit. So what a happy outcome we win . Going forward if we win complete control are goal is to set you free from luck . We want you to start your own business and keep 90% of all the money you make to expand and hire more people. Patriot150792 1 month ago in playlist Favorite videos
@Patriot150792 It shouldn't suggest we get rid of all military; it simply points out how much we spend and on what. Considering how much we do spend, we could cut 85% and still be well protected.

The % of our GDP we spend on foreign aid is much SMALLER than most other countries, it's UNhonorable.
damoninsky 3 months ago
@damoninsky I googled US gdp and the first thing that came up was a graph with $14,58 trillion
brianshan1 3 months ago
@brianshan1 I'm proud of you for attempting to seek knowledge, however it is more difficult than you think. It requires much more reading and analyzing than what you just did. That $14 Billion is our national debt. That's how much we are in debt, how much we owe other countries and private companies. Look up U.S. annual GDP.
damoninsky 3 months ago
@XxFightinDirtyxX WHAAAATTT? WE don't make 14 trillion per year, are you crazy???? We make less than 2 Trillion! 2/3 of our national debt is due to spending on defense. We only spend 6 cents out of every hundred dollars on foreign aid. When the tsunami hit Indonesia in 2004 (200,000 people died), we spent a smaller % of our GDP than any other country. HALF of our aid goes to Israel (for military purposes) and Egypt (to not attack Israel). You are SO misinformed. Go get reading.
damoninsky 3 months ago
If they cut military spending that much then the citizens of the US will realize that the reason their petroleum is still affordable is that it is taken at gun point, from nations that would sell it for a fair price to anyone willing to buy it. The military is most likely keeping the US alive right now by extorting natural resources at the behest of corporate america. Brown people suffer and die at gun point for are richest 1% to live like kings.
buff24seven 3 months ago
No one needs to invade the US because America already lost WW3. There war wasn't about killing millions of Americans. The war was economics. America was so afraid of the rest of the world that it made itself broke on defense. What is America now? All military, all time record debt, and still in fear. To think that America needed all this defense against country's smaller than most states lol.
itinkle 3 months ago

USparatroopersurgeon 5 months ago
@USparatroopersurgeon Why do you think this? Why haven't they invaded any other country? We saved them during WWII, why do you think they want to invade us? What evidence do you have for this, please share. China knows we're good for our debts, it's really not hard to fix our debt crisis (just stop voting republicans into office and the problem is solved). Why is the budget so important? We spend more on it than every other country in the world combined! It couldn't be used other ways?
damoninsky 5 months ago
@damoninsky We saved the world's ass in WWII and the world currently hates us. Think logically, if Kuwait owed Iraq money Iraq would have invaded it. Similarly, Iraq invaded Kuwait cause Iraq owed Kuwait money. Do you think Iraq would have fucked with Kuwait if it had a great military? Currently, all the US has is her military. The size of one's military determines how much power one holds(i.e. USSR, Nazis, Imperial Japan, Colonial Britain, Colonial france, etc.) We need the military
USparatroopersurgeon 5 months ago
@USparatroopersurgeon Obviously, the world doesn't hate us because of WWII; they hate us for what we've done with our powers SINCE WWII. If another country was invading another sovereign country today, the UN (or NATO) would step in with multi-national powers (except if it was the US, then they can't do shit). If you want a democracy, then you can't be the ruler and do everything you want unilaterally. Try diplomacy and cooperation, rather than force. Might is NOT right.

damoninsky 5 months ago
@damoninsky I don't know about that one. According to a documentary, 59% of Americans wanted to go to war, even if it meant innocent lives were to be taken after 9/11.

@ShadowofaRoar So what. The mainstream (corporate) media contributed to the accidental deception to the population. People aren't smart enough to look further and deeper than Fox News or CNN.
Allisoninsky 5 months ago
@Allisoninsky Government media isn't that great either. They could justify any war they wanted and tout how awesome they are at running everything. In particular, I was trying to refer to you laying sole blame on the Republicans. I personally don't believe that. But I do agree the military budget's too high. Last time I checked, about twice the runner up.
ShadowofaRoar 5 months ago
@ShadowofaRoar What's "government media"? I'm talking about obtaining information from professors and journalists from all over the world who have studied and written extensively on the subject matter. I definitely don't put sole blame on the Republicans, but they are simply more evil than the Democrats.
damoninsky 5 months ago
@damoninsky I'm sorry, I should had said "wasn't" or "wouldn't" be better, and I find the notion that Republicans are "more evil" than Democrats ridiculous. There are people that are crooks and make it obvious, then there are people that are better at hiding it.
ShadowofaRoar 5 months ago
@ShadowofaRoar I shouldn't have said "evil" (that's simply the rhetoric that gets tossed around). Since the Republicans are more about protecting the wealthiest people and not about spending government money to help the less unfortunate and country, I label them as severely less moral than the Dems. However, I condemn both parties for being a slave to big business, and true change for the better will never come with these fundamentals.
damoninsky 5 months ago
@damoninsky I agree. That's why I don't watch TV for news involving politics anymore. However, if it were so simple no one would vote Republican. I believe in helping people, but I also believe there should be limits. My reasons for this is so they don't become dependent. Examples of this I've personally experienced are: my lousy cousin who's living with me who quit every job by the second week, and a guy who kept asking me for money until I stopped meeting him.
ShadowofaRoar 5 months ago
@ShadowofaRoar I completely agree that there should be limits too. Welfare is a problem because people take advantage of it, but it also is tremendously helpful for people who are honest, hard-working citizens. If most people really knew how uncaring the Republicans were to the majority of Americans, they would certainly not vote for them; unfortunately, there exists very convincing media programs and very easily manipulative people everywhere.
damoninsky 5 months ago
@damoninsky There's manipulation on all sides. Caring would depend on your point of view. Republicans work at a different angle. While Democrats work directly to help people, Republicans work indirectly to make it easier for producers so the burden of price is eased on the consumers. That's the general idea, anyway. Of course, nothing's ever so simple, and corruption makes it hard for any idea to work.

So all you folks who think otherwise you might as well kill youself cause you would die by another military if we didn't have a strong one! Sorry if u think otherwise!!!!!
jacobg1777 6 months ago
@jacobg1777 The reason why the rest of the world hates us is BECAUSE we are so tough that we interviene in other countries business. If we invested in helping other countries, as opposed to making them do what we wanted by force or threat, fewer people would want to destroy us. Take just half of what we spend annually, and we could save millions and millions of lives in foreign aid. What we do and provide now is an absolute joke. The days of countries going to war is over. UN, NATO, EU...
Allisoninsky 6 months ago
@Allisoninsky I agree with you! If the US were to lower the budget on there military expense it would make us more vulnerable to an attack. Once pearl harbor was invaded I think that the US stop trusting any other country! WW2 changed alot of things! US stayed out of the whole mess until we were invaded! We kept to ourselves in WW2 and still got raided! So keeping to ourselves isn't much of an answer, it just means that we don't want any problems and people can see weakness! US had enough in WW2
jacobg1777 6 months ago
@jacobg1777 Reducing our military budget will absolutely NOT make us more vulnerable to an attack. Having less fighter planes, destroyers, and nuclear weaponry will not stop the tiny numbers of terrorists. If you want to reduce possible attacks, then we should finance and deploy peaceful organizations, NOT military. WW2 definitely changed things, for the better, look at the world now...hardly ANY more countries are attacking one another (except us, WE, the U.S., is one of the last problems)!
damoninsky 6 months ago
What is your source for your discretionary spending pie chart? The numbers are misleading. the US military is run from less than 1/20 of the GDP. You use Aircraft in your slideshow that were built a little at a time over the 60's, 70's, 80's and of course some newer. Most C-5's are from the 60's for example. B-1 and B-2 are from the 80's, none have been built/purchased in over 20 years. Without the military protecting your freedom of speech/our ideals somebody would have killed damonsky long ago
jaydak99 6 months ago
@jaydak99 Where in the world did you get your information that military spending is less than 1/20 of the GDP? You must be watching FOX. It's clearly over half or nearly half (depending on if you take into considering other defense spending). I beg you to look this up. You're right that many of these planes aren't currently being built, but my idea was to simply show the massive weaponry we waste our money on. Freedom of speech is now secure. Ease up on spending. Let a UN, NATO, EU help.
Allisoninsky 6 months ago
It's nice to think that our military has "kept this world relatively safe and prosperous" considering all of the horrific times we set up dictators and assassinated democratically elected leaders in numerous countries (see my American Imperialism videos). We live in completely different times now. Waring countries are diminishing, now we must stop religious freaks (not governments), it takes spreading peace, not military might. Use this money to help countries instead of force build weapons.
damoninsky 6 months ago
@damoninsky u r a fucking dreaming retard, that is why your country is so fucked up. your country is doomed.
viewsonicplastic2222 6 months ago
What is wrong with you people? Why can't you see that it's the US Military that has kept this world relatively safe and prosperous for the last 80 years? There has never been any other serious challenge to hundreds of ruthless dictators since WW2.
Now, we face a debt crisis that threatens to remove that world stabilizing influence. And why? Because of massive insane redistribution of wealth to people who didn't earn it.
rkmacdonald 6 months ago
The weakened USA military was almost entirely responsible for WW 1, and the initial weak position of the USA was mostly responsible for WW2. Both wars would have been averted had the US military been at the strength it is today. Since WW2, the US military has been strong enough to prevent additional world wars. What will happen when the US military is radically reduced?
rkmacdonald 6 months ago
It's true that the US military is very expensive, and it will likely be seriously reduced. Then, watch the Hitlers, Bin Ladins, Mubaricks, Al Quedas, Hebullahs, and all the other tyrants, spring up around the world to dominate their areas with no checks to their power. Then, in the not too distant future, expect them to invade the USA.
rkmacdonald 6 months ago
What a bunch of crap!!
People like this better wake up!

As we all know through history, military empire is entirely self-defeating. Rome, British and Ottoman Empire, Soviet Union - and we're next, except the others didn't bring the rest of the world down as we will. And the blame is on the American people for not stopping the insanity.
powertothesheeeple 7 months ago
Not only that we must do, but we must cut the spending we send to Military projects. We need to focus more on problems at home like education, the need for renewable energy, and more.
curingaging00 7 months ago

Well, maintaining an Empire requires plenty of money. Ask the British how much theirs used to cost them. Ask the Mongols, the Romans. All Empires require bigger and bigger expenditures the larger the Empire gets.

Just like an un-American, wine sipping liberal fuck-wad to misrepresent facts and actually present some complete fallacies to get your worthless opinion across. And a lot of the annual defense budget is put into American businesses and pays American workers.

@TheARMAProductions And what is this "dominance" doing for us and the world? Why is it beneficial for this to be "strategic"?
damoninsky 1 year ago
But what I dont understand is this. Germany Wikipedia said: Military budget is 700 Billion (2010) national budget is 2100 Billion (2009) But gross domestic product is 14 Trillion so is Millitary Budget now ca. 33% from national budget
but just 4 % of gross domestic product. And this 4% is the argument of weapon industrie. What can I say against this.
Munic92 1 year ago
@Munic92 I'm pretty sure that $14 trillion is our national debt. Our total annual revenue for 2009 was about 2.4 $trillion (but we spend way more than that).
damoninsky 1 year ago
@Munic92 Gross Domestic Product is the total worth of all the economic activity in your country. It is by no means the amount of money the government has access to. I think that using % of annual government budget is a better indicator of how much a government service is costing taxpayers, both in terms of nominal costs and the costs of opportunity.
RoniCMaster 9 months ago
@Munic92 The GDP is not a measure of what the government can use to pay for its expenses. The GDP is an aggregate approximation of the value of all production in a country. In short, its everybody's economic activity for the year, combined. Sure, the US has US$14 Trillion in GDP, but what the government has to pay for its US$600 Billion military and its US$14 Trillion debt is much smaller. Unless you all agreed to have taxes increased to 100% for everyone, there's no way you can keep it going.

Munic92 1 year ago
@Munic92 Thanks for your interest and concern. I found most of the military prices from wikipedia then cross referenced them with other sites (didn't find many discrepancies). The costs of schools, hospitals, etc...I found from various sites and took their average to compare with the ships and planes. The defense military budget is no secret, and can be found on any government website.

america could be the paradise.
And they would even have enough to make war.

Cut the defense budget to about 20% and reduce the number of troops in Afghanistan then give it to the American people, like welfare and education.
directorlog 1 year ago
It seems to me that the majority of all americans are more than just dumb. The american finance budget is so over-indebted that the whole world will pay for your consumption! Get this! Ever heard of money stock M3? Did you know that your glorious debt-based government abandoned publication of this money amount few years ago, because your central bank is just printing and printing? Did you know that your trade deficit is as big as it never was? China and India get you! Wake up!
TobyTobsen82 1 year ago
@TobyTobsen82 our dept by percentage of gdp has been much higher than it is currently so your wrong about our trade deficit look up us dept after ww2 (retard) and furthermore the us is vital to china as its number one consumer, and if we didn't borrow both economy's would fail because 40% of chinas goods are purchased here. true that their is more than one issue in a long term sustainment of this current system but for now it is the best option to sustain both global trade and global order

Big2000Powerstroke 1 year ago
@Big2000Powerstroke I'm actually in the same boat you are; but whose to say that by taking out 1/8 of the budget will affect your life, or taking out a 1/4 or even just 1/2 of it for a single year? Even if we reduce it by 85%, it will still dominate the world. Even if we stop building anything new for the next decade, we'll STILL be dominating. Aircraft carriers and fighter jets don't make us more safe. If we used this $ to help countries, we wouldn't have to worry so much about defense.
damoninsky 1 year ago
@damoninsky I understand where you're coming from about how outlandish our defense budget is. But to reduce the defense budget, say by 25%, and send that money elsewhere like to our education system or over seas to help needy countries, then that doesn't really solve the problem in the first place of our military spending too much money. The money would just be shifted elsewhere. To truly solve the problem, the money would have to be cut entirely, and not spent at all.

@damoninsky BTW I like the song choice. never heard an instrumental version of Give Me Shelter :D

Just imagine all the great things we could do with the amount of money if the military budget were even halved.. and it would still be the biggest in the world by far. whey spend so much? for what? and yet the US education system is far behind many other countries, university costs are prohibitive, people are left with no insurance. these problems could be solved! we watch everything BUT the military get cut.
pseudonamed 1 year ago
@pseudonamed It's because of the military that we have everything you mentioned in the first place. If there's one area I DON'T want my country to cut back on, it would be our military.

@Big2000Powerstroke man from outside america we are all bombarded with propaganda that america defends the democracy freedom etc ,and they are the good guys ,but instead it's obvious americans want to be conquerors they want to have an empire they want the oil by any means from other countries ,no american would agree to have gas prices 2 times higher than today as in europe ,if put to the choice the american public will vote 70% to invade irak than to pay that ,4,5% US- 1,5% EU military .
iooo007 1 year ago
@iooo007 America does defend democracies. North Korea killed two South Korean marines, so what do we do? Send an aircraft carrier. Shut them up real quick. When you say "Americans want an empire", I hope you're being sarcastic. Turn on the local news on any station in the states, all people are screaming about is to stop spending, stop expanding, stop getting involved with other countries. It's our government officials that change their agenda once they get elected. Not the public's fault....
Big2000Powerstroke 1 year ago
@Big2000Powerstroke man you are conflicting your statements at first you want protection it's obvious that americans want oil want to live in suburbia these are all conected to having an empire so it doesn't matter if the general public doesn't put those two togheter this is it you lose your empire you have to live like i europe things that the american public does not want at all ,and with north korea it's true in half NK is more dangerous than iran but you don't atack bcz they don't have oil .
iooo007 1 year ago
@iooo007 I'm not conflicting myself at all. US veterans are considered heroes here. Americans love our military and support it them in every way. What we don't support is getting involved in foreign affairs that spend needless amounts of money. Our government is retarded. All they do is spend more and more. Foreigner's perceptions of Americans are skewed thanks to the way our government acts. Talking to an American, you'll find all we want is to be left alone.
p.s. Europe has suburbs.
Big2000Powerstroke 1 year ago
@pseudonamed I completely agree that the US education system is lagging behind the rest of the world, but that's not because it's under-funded due to military spending. In fact, the US spends more money per child on the education system than any other country, but we don't see results. We need to change the system and how we teach, instead of just pumping more money into a failing system.
