  • Huge loss to Hawaii, there is something called child abuse- stuffing your children so they pork up young and can't find a way back to health - IS one of them. I too am an RN and have seen this often - so sad.

  • I lived in Hawaii for 4 years I was at ages 3-7. I lived there in the times where my skin was adjustable to tone so I looked like a native Hawaiian girl. Once I moved back to New York I was whiter than white again.. it doesn't matter though its what is on the inside that counts and I may not call myself a Hawaiian, but all of the people I knew there still believe I am true at heart Hawaiian. I miss you all and Bruddah IZ's sport may live on in all of our hearts like the Hawaiian in me. "We'll m

  • chicken skin from one native in texas . from maili hawaii. aloha

  • As a native Hawaiian, this song has a lot of spiritual strength and guidance. Songs like these reminds me of how my ancestors are counting on me to make them proud. iMiss u tutu man. I hope to make u proud of me someday..me ke aloha mau, kou mo'opuna~

  • Through the tears in my eyes i see brilliance, and my ears are sharpened to the sound of mind tingling excellence..............Rest in heaven IZ.

  • Honestly...his voice brings tears to my eyes. RIP.

  • He is not fat.

He is full of love and music skills.

This guy changed my life with his music.

  • U know that I am not hawaiian but hawaiian at hart, been living in hawaii this time about 5 years and miss it.so much.. Have to listen to music like this

  • I worked at Queens in Cardiology and Mr. IZ, sadly, came in often. He was a stinker about his diet and his family didn't help, but on Sundays, oh my Lord, when they all came and he felt well, oh my Jesus, the music that came out of his room and down the hall!! There wasn't a sound in the halls everything was still, but the music , the music you felt Heaven in your heart for those brief moments. God was there, in Mr Iz. Absolutely!! May God hold you gently in His arms while you rest, Iz!

  • @pmitsh You were blessed!!

  • @pmitsh thank you for saying that, other than the hospital part it would be heaven on earth to see him and hear him sing such a beautiful man

  • I have just found my next tattoo... I am going to get the Hawaiian code of conduct tattood on my leg. I am a mixed martial artist and I heavily believe and stand for the rights of all people and to love one another equally. I have never found a group of words that collectively represent my morals and my representation of how i feel... but now I have. I am booking in to get the tattoo done in two weeks, I will upload a picture on my facebook like page for you all to see. facebook.com/tatumbonnie.

  • @TatumBonnieOfficial I dont think you should do it until you truly understand what it means why dont you live and learn the hawaiian ways, learn what the aloha spirit is first.

  • IZ was the great love of my life that i never got to meat! I LOVE HIM! NOW AND FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • @atimarok Thanks so much for the translation. Gracias from the island of Puerto Rico. Just read about Iz at the end of Sarah Vowell's book Unfamiliar Fishes on the annexation of Hawaii. So I looked for Hawaii '78 and just kept on listening. RIP, Iz.

  • heartbreakingly beautiful

  • His size matters not to the educated and wise, his size only matters to those who's spirit is blind and hollow. The spirit of this man lives on forever in the hearts of those who are able to bring joy to the lives that surround him or her. I would like to think that one day I could be as loved as this man was and still is. Intelligent people can't help but to love him.

  • @wiffsofsmoke He is not Fat, He only need room for his Big Heart. A wonderful person gifted with Amazing Voice. You surely be missed Big Heart IZ.

  • watch?v=LyunGMtE2jk - PLEASE DON'T WATCH

  • 1 kid does not represent a nation. Let them be, they don't know what they say. They just hear the sound of a song with their ears, they don't feel the real meaning in their hearts. Some day they will hear and feel Kaleohano.

I'm from the Netherlands, Europe, and it would cost me 3000 euro to come to Hawaii, and if IZ still was alive, I would come with no doubt, just to give him my dearest and deepest heart hug.

    R.I.P. Brother! Love You.

  • @snooooog IZ is dead for 14 years ... unfortunately. A trip to Hawaii is my dream too

  • very nice...

  • Mau ke aloha, o Hawai'i. I love this land so much. Too bad many folks cannot believe a hanai haole can feel this way...

You da man fo'eva Brada Iz.. We love and miss you brada.

  • chicken skin kine....nuff said

  • Beautiful

  • @America100000able

I know, just putting my 2cents worth in

  • I agree with Edav38. All you trolls need to go else where. This guy is the bomb.

  • Something to understand about Bruddah IZ, he was probably the Most Loved and Respected Native Hawaiian's of the last 100 years. THOUNSANDS Showed up to his funeral, for those of you who want to slam him, how many do you think will Revere You after you die, how many will show up to Honor Your Life, of instilling Peace and Love to ALL Humankind? With the attitudes being displayed here, I would say at this moment your funerals will be Vacant of well-wishers. Brruddah IZ was a Hawaiian KING.

  • @Edav38

Just saying, but I was defending Iz from others that were insulting him.

  • justin bieber has 47 youtube accounts and click "don´t like"

  • i love it

  • truly beautiful

  • KU'E!!!!!!

  • @hjenkinz . how do we know you'e not? duh!!

  • @bookaat100 because theres no food left after him

  • @hjenkinz appearantly no brains either.......dick.

  • @bergmeisterhater i think that's what they call irony.

  • @hjenkinz

Why don't you leave? No one here wants to listen to your ignorant, and shallow comments. If you want go pick on someone else, but don't pick on someone that helped his own people, and other people around the world with his music. Not just that this poor man is dead you a** so if you don't like him then leave.

  • @hjenkinz

Keep pouring those ignorant words you shallow a**, because you can't hurt this guy even if he was still alive. Your ignorance will shield you away from the most beautiful things in the world like his singing. I hope karma will come back to haunt you. When you are down on your luck no one will help you, because of what you do and say to other people you shallow jerk.

  • @America100000able none of this takes away from his weight problem unfortunately.

  • @hjenkinz

What does that make you? This guy had a wife and a kid. I highly doubt you will with your sad life. Yeah go back to doing whatever your shallow life allows you to do.

  • @America100000able at least I can sit in a chair designed for humans

  • @hjenkinz

You don't have to like this guy, but leave the damn guy alone. If you want to troll go troll elsewhere, but don't troll here, because this man changed the lives of many people.

  • @America100000able mmm, I don't think I'll be stopping any time soon to be honest. It's going so well, people are jumping in to defend this useless sack of lard, left right and centre.

  • @hjenkinz

Shut up you useless sack of garbage. At least this guy will be remembered for what he does unlike people like you. People like you will just dissappear when judgement day comes

  • @America100000able Judgement day? Well why don't you let the imaginary friend dreamt up by desert-dwelling savages judge me, and stay out of it? Yahweh is a cunt anyway.

  • @hjenkinz

I always thought that Britons are well educated people. Today a changed my mind....

  • @2358abc

Don't judge a nation or a group of people, because of one person. Iz taught us that. By judging a entire group of people, because of one would be wrong.

  • @hjenkinz You are no more then an embarrassment to society....the man singing these songs with an angelic voice, was and is loved by people who understand what respect is. I doubt you even understand what respect means....your words are actually pretty worthless...I'm sure you enjoy this because no one pays any attention to you in your day to day life....you are actually pathetic....

  • @LivinMyJourney oh well. At least I'm not fat and dead.

  • @hjenkinz

well, today you can, but tomorrow maybe not.......

  • so this is what heaven is like

  • This is what aloha is for me and if every hawaiian could put their diffrences behind and learn the word aloha hawaii would be peaceful again as it was in the beginning.

  • One day when he was 15 years old, Israel was sitting at a picnic table on Makaha Beach playing his ukulele when Jerry Koko stopped by to talk story. Jerry invited Israel over to his house to kanikapila (play music). He then met Moon Kauakahi and Jerry’s brother, john koko. Israel told the boys about his brother, Skippy, and how he could play guitar. After playing together for awhile, the boys decided to start a group and the Makaha Sons of Ni’ihau were born.

  • i hear this song everyday, i dont know why,but i love this song, best song of brother iz

    R.I.P IZ

  • hawaiian

  • I'm not sure what Island it is, but my brother in law's daighter lived there and he visited her often. He did say to be careful where you go if we went there. I believe those people are very friendly, you can see the warmth in their eyes. I also believe you have to be careful as well. Jamaica and mexico, you definately do not wander out of the "tourist" zone, that I do know. Thank you for commenting though.

  • Love his music, (IZ), he is missed! May his music and his message of HOPE for all Hawaiians live on.

    David Rails, CA

  • I don't know why people could even mention racism on this website, as this is one of the most beautiful rendition of "Aloha" that I have ever heard. Bruddah Iz is certainly blessed with a fantastic voice. I am an American (a descendant from the Clan "Campbell" of Scotland and also part German), and I am not from the beautiful Hawaiin Islands, but I love the Island music. Just listen to this beautiful music and allow your mind to escape to the Islands.

    Jim Campbell, Columbia SC

  • Sadly, this was Iz's last song in concert. This was in Miloli'i on the Big Island. The people in this village are very proud and boast as being the last fishing village in Hawaii.

  • I am a Very Proud Hawaiian, who lives on the mainland.

    I will never forget Home.

  • Im from Chile, and all i have to say is... Beautiful music, it have so many feelings

  • I never knew this man until now. He has an awesome personality and i agree, I hate racism and the "differance" of people. I've been thinking of a trip to Hawaii, but have been told to watch where I'm going. Visitors can't just walk anywhere they want. "Whites" have to be careful where they go. Now what about the "whites" that hate racism just as the blacks, hawaiians, mexicans, asians, or shall I say AMERICANS!!!! Americans who are in this country, sharing the very air we breathe. Stop the hate!

  • @doobiedax I have been to Maui several times. I have never been afraid to go anywhere. This last visit I used the fairly new public transport and met many Hawaiins, some homeless in the dark. They were nothing but friendly cheerful and helpful. Be carefull what you believe till you experience it yourself.

  • wow, he touched alot of people

  • my skin grows to this music feel like i want to love forever . thanks to this giant .

  • proud to be hawaiian

  • Beautiful

  • Bruddah IZ was a big man with a big heart and a beautiful voice. He is an inspiration to all of us in Hawaii. His music will live on forever and forever. Mahalo big guy!!

  • Beautiful video. There'll never be another Bra IZ. RIP, Israel Kamakawiwo`ole. We'll love you eternally ~0':-)

  • Cudos to you "thggieg"!!!I I totally agree with "thggieg"! Why does everyone have to hate? It seemed to me that Bruddah Iz respected all men and loved life- it shows in his music. And he was obviously much loved by all. We should all just enjoy his music and try to respect one another- whatever our race or beliefs. I hope others agree with me!!!

  • por favorme podrian traducir esta hermosa cancion , desde ya gracias!

  • @animalman1122

Yes it is. His singing was recorded, and is now visible here.

  • Love U Brada Iz....arohanui!

  • i love this song. during May Day we sang this, and a group of guys at our school stood up high on the bleachers and unraveled a large Hawaiian flag and raised it proudly above everyone (also during Hawai`i Pono`i) & everyone was swaying together while singing. it was beautiful(:

    Hawai`i Aloha <3 i love you Hawai`i

  • Happy birthday, Bruddah IZ! We miss you!!

  • Thank's for sharing that great emotional song :) love it

  • Each time I listed to IZ, his music is so emotionally warm, deep, powerful and so sincere, that it almost makes me cry. His music heals the soul.

  • Aloha anda Mahalo Iz, see you in Heaven one of these days

  • Wow I'm loving this so much. Last week I discovered Bob Marley. This week it's IZ. What a wonderful man and such a beautiful song. I want to play this song too - does anyone know the chords for both ukulele and guitar please and I'd love to know what the words mean. I'm going to buy myself a ukulele for my birthday in May. Just love it . Thanks for the post. IZ you have inspired me to start playing guitar again. And I'll celebrate his passing on his birthday 20 May.

  • i wish i understood what he was saying.such a beautiful song.

  • @lilton25 look for blues4never comment, he/she posted english translation, somewhere about page 32 - 35 of the comments.

  • @lilton25 VERSE 1: O Hawaii, O sands of my birth My native home I rejoice in the blessings of heaven O Hawaii, aloha. CHORUS: Happy youth of Hawaii Rejoice! Rejoice! Gentle breezes blow Love always for Hawaii. VERSE 2: May your divine throngs speak Your loving people, O Hawaii The holy light from above O Hawaii, aloha. (repeat chorus) VERSE 3: God protects you Your beloved ridges Your ever glistening streams Your beautiful flower gardens. (repeat chorus)
  • @atimarok thank you what a meaningful song.i truly admire your rich and beautiful culture

  • @lilton25 no problem sir :) aloha nui loa. (thank you very much) :)

  • What a beautiful song. I love this song. Everyone is holding hands and it does not matter what color our skin is or whether they are fat or skinny. You hold hands and you get together and have a good time. That is Hawaiian style. That is the way it should be all over the world. Hating rots the soul and the mind. Laughter and love is the best. There is good in everyone. Aloha

  • @clscms You said it best. That is the way it should be all over the world. Hawaii is a special place where we can all live together and even become president some day. Aloha

  • Let's all celebrate his birthday May 20th all around the world. I'll post the words, so that you may sing along and practice on how to pronouce them while singing with IZ. Gather friends, get together, hold hands, and sing along!

E Hawaiʻi e kuʻu one hānau e Kuʻu home kulaīwi nei

Daniela

  • To the 16 year old: Jesus had the same thing happening to Him while He was spreading the Good Word...

  • wow at one point, everyone standing is moving side and side in the same rythm. He put them under a musical spell.

  • Thank you Iz...for freedom...we see us...! In love my brother.

  • tambien se lo escucha en ecuador salud por el grande

  • I think it is very childish how you people are fighting over race and cursing each other by commenting on this video about a man who lived and beleived in the equality of all men. I may be only 16 but you are the ones that are sounding childish.

  • @thggieg

Well said, my friend. Wisdom has nothing to do with age, as you just demonstrated.

  • @thggieg i agree

  • @thggieg You are so right! Maturity doesn't come by age. Stay the way you are. We need mature people like you in this world.

  • @thggieg i agree 100% and i am 13 :)

  • hurt's don't it the truth Danny boy .. my home land was taken with blood shed and ancestor's killed but do i hold a grudge ,, just live in peace and not be a piece of shit

  • This song will and always will make me cry! i LOVE this song and i LOVE braddah is! May he rest in peace with Atua up dea!!

  • IZ RIP :( :( :( :(

  • I believe in equality for all, when are we gonna wakeup and realize that we are playing the game,to love your country does not mean to give YOUR life for the wrong cause, what excuse or explanation can you give a mother,a father , when all they get is a casket in return for the life of a loved one,and if a folded flag is enough relief for anybody, then i really feel sorry for them,i dont mean to offend anybody, but if we did not let our patriotic pride take over a lot of people would still be here

  • if anybody lost a brother or sister, father, son, and they were called "casualties" of war what would you say? this what im saying, who gives us the right to be superior to anybody?since when did we become toy soldiers?if the chief in command has a problem with a dictaror or tiran why would it sound stupid for them to handle it them selves?why does it not sound stupid or ridiculous for thousands of latinos, whites, blacks, asians, and many many people to loose their life over "love for our country"

  • what about the Japanese that inhabit the island's do they need to leave as well or are they cool for bombing the shit out of your land.. sorry but we are all brothers and sister's .. you must have missed the word's of IZ when he said one color one race we all the damm same so stop crying and live your life and die like the rest of us are going to do in time your words mean nothing if they are hurtful and disrespectful to anyone

  • @billythekid795 For your information, Japanese people who live in Hawai'i have been living in Hawai'i long before Pearl Harbor. My family came to Hawai'i in 1889, and we lived together with the Hawaiians for over 50 years before Pearl Harbor. We had nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with Pearl Harbor, in fact, many of us fought in the war against Japan, including our state senator, Daniel Inouye. And Hawaiians-they have every damn right to be angry. So shut up, you don't make any sense.

  • show some respect... i understand if you just 10 years old or something but if you´re an adult well you must grow from within

  • I just heard about this man today.... I so wish I could have known him. LOVE him... Love his voice.

  • wãhnsiñn_súcht_mål_NÁch:_geldeasy_âÛf_góóglè

  • Man did i miss out, i never heard of this guy til after he was gone, RIP IZ, beautiful!

  • Im white :(

  • @makeyourownname no disrespect but this comment made me laugh

  • @makeyourownname My father a beautiful Hawaiian man was asked by one of his grandsons " What color is Hawaiian? Daddy said "What color are you? My nephew who resembles his "white" father said "White". Daddy then said "What color am I?" My nephew answered "Brown". Daddy said "There you go." My father knelt down to look into the eyes of his granson and said "Hawaiian is not in the color of the skin. Hawaiian is in the aloha in da puuwai(love in the heart"

  • @Islandgrits love to ur fada and hope he has the best bruh

  • @Islandgrits I love this. It made me sentimental.

  • @Islandgrits That was beautifully done by your father.

  • @Islandgrits And we, in the rest of the world, can learn from that example. One love, one heart!

  • I miss you very much my brother, in my heart you live on

  • Ich liebe dieses Lied, ich ein Mann aus dem ruhrpott.er war genial.
