  • I would've like the camera to be on the 78rpm disc during the whole of the song. The shot of half way door/speaker grill detracted from the excellance of the song. Pics of the 78rpm disc enhances the long-ago-memories. However, thanks for uploading

  • This record spent six weeks at No. 1 at the dawn of 1934. It debuted the week of December 9, 1933 and hung around for 15 weeks. The song is from the Broadway musical "Roberta' and features Bunny Berigan on trumpet. Leo Reisman, Emil Coleman and Ruth Etting also had hits with "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" in 1934. A decade later, Artie Shaw revived the tune, taking it to #24. In the rock era, this has been a hit for Richard Barrett (#94, 1958), The Platters #1, 1959) and Blue Haze (#27, 1973).
