  • Oh fuck of rollins

  • Ob-La-Di O-Bla-Da life goes on meet me in the back of the blue bus!

  • Come on baby take a chance with us.

  • awesome song, retarded but creepy spoken word section

  • nothing like it...ever

  • Henry Rollins is kind of a dumbass, there were plenty of dark songs in the late 60s. And plus, Ob-la-di Ob-la-da was released almost two years after The End was.

  • rollins is awsome

  • most people think about the doors as jim morrison but jim would be nothing without the doors as a band

  • Krieger was asked once which was the most difficult guitar part he ever had to play. Without hesitation he said it was The End if it was played right.

  • 4:28 THAT "fuck' chant was buried for many years in the mix on the stereo version, but the mono version was more up front. years later the song was remixed for this to be heard loud and clear!!! ON CD and VINYL and all the old mixes of tapes and records from the good old days!!!

  • holy shit, thanks doors, you ARE the best shit that ever existed on music. Ever.

  • What. Is. This. From. ?!

  • @ParadoxDiscrepancy its from the 'Classic Albums' series

  • @ParadoxDiscrepancy You probably remember it from Apocolypse now

  • @ParadoxDiscrepancy You might remember it from Apocolypse now

  • This song just makes me wanna take mad acid and listen to the doors all night with my friends and a strobe light

  • It was live, yes, but the song on the album is a merging of two different takes.

  • my favorite doors song. rest in peace mr mojo risin

  • what show is this from?

  • "not what you all thought" bastard caught me! :p

  • John is aging so gracefully.

  • ...and the doors take it for darkest song. love this shit

  • WHO PLAYS FALLOUT # CAUSE THIS SONG GOES SO GOOD

  • @candoanything654 i play fallout :)

  • @candoanything654 WHO TRIPS ON PSYCHEDELICS CAUSE THIS SONG GOES SO GOOD

  • nothing like obladi oblada, and thank fuck for that. Paul McCartney definitely didn't foment any apocalyptic happenings. Jim Morrison lived through a few I'd say...

Catharsis? Oedipus myths and exploring the dark side of the psyche, they were onto something. I think Jimi Hendrix said how rock music is an important pressure valve. The ancient greeks would have understood that too.

  • nothing like obladi oblada, and thank fuck for that. Paul McCartney definitely didn't foment any apocalyptic happenings. Jim Morrison lived through a few I'd say...

  • so good

    nikolajovan1

  • Robbie Krieger. Fantastic....

  • Perry Farrell....no no no...you are too much on the surface...swim deeper.live a deeper life.

  • hey this seems like its from a documentary..Does any1 knows what its called??

  • @Throwoutbearing31 'Classic Albums - The Doors', I think.

  • @Mario12NorthernLion It is, I've seen the whole thing. Really good interview.

  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

    I'M IN LOVE...

AM A FOKING MAN IN LOVE...

    wAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

  • WTF? Perry Ferrell?

  • why is ray always shaking his head?

  • @AppleUploader His way of being in the "zone" of music man. You wanna see Joe Cocker if you haven't already. Plus Ray has major parts to play in the music (bass) and (keyboards).

  • My Natural High.. is Jim Morrison

  • the one dislike must be a justin beiber fan

  • Why didn't I live in those times?!

  • morrison was hella high on acid during the show that must have been hella intense for kreig and manz they must of been like omg what are you saying " the killer awoke at dawn" lol

  • its funny how you can tell that the other band members dismiss morrison were getting tired playing lol. aduring the reprise of the line this is the end after the cresencdo the attack in each persons playing seems fatigued... listen to kreiger playing that chorus line that starts with a and ends on d sounds tired idk why but i think its funny

  • who the hell clicked dislike?!?!?

  • the bass is The Habanera - Georges Bizet

  • Manzarek would be a cool grandpa haha

  • @STREETTHRASHFUN

grandpa tell me a story......Well grandson, back in the 60s we took acid and rode the snake,lol...grandpa what is acid....wait, open your mouth for this lovely peace of sugar...lol...just kidding

  • Oedipus or what :)

  • 2:07 Ray is my favorite bass player of all time...listen to him speak and not miss a beat!

  • @Snotra I agree with you 100%%% The guy is amazing.

  • Jim was years ahead lyrically.

In case some fans don't get the middle bit:

The room with his brother and sister is about us killing each other in warfare etc.

The killing of his father represents the death of spirituality.

His mother represents mother earth who is being fucked by humanity all night long baby.

This is a song of future events by someone who knew what was coming. Maybe this drunken admirals' son knew a whole lot more about how society runs than some thought.

  • @ozzsihing wrong its oedipus rex

  • @eagleeye2391 I disagree ... I think he adapts Oedipus Rex to the context of the song. And to me the song is about the end of humanity in it's current form. Sorry I stated my opinion as though it was factual.

  • @ozzsihing no problem bud, thats why this music is so awesome, we all have diffrent views, but the real fact about it, is that jim wrote this after his high school girlfriend broke up with him

  • @eagleeye2391 Thanks for the info. Ultimately I am interested in getting to the truth of things I care about and you have helped me with that. My only defense for my incorrect assessment of this song is that I was stoned 3 months ago. I have since quit smoking while I still have some brain-cells left. lol. Please consider my friend request.

  • @ozzsihing oh for sure man again no need to apologize, but its good that you dont smoke anymore

  • thanks a lot!

  • 2:40...2:42 !!!! hA!!!!! Ray! super stuff....they were and are in a heaven of their perception of the world's energy!

  • the end is one mixed of sadness and hate

  • is that andy warthol 5:17

  • @bronymac Hahaha! Of course he's not my friend... :)

    Andy Warhol (August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987)

  • 3:57 AWW MAN HAHA

  • JIM WAS FUCKING AWSOME!!!!

  • Like to point out that Krieger's continual return to a single note in his guitar work is seminal and you can trace the Edge's style to such work.

  • I have a tatoo of this song THE END tih morrison !!!

SALUTE TO THE LEGEND JIM !

  • 2:55 i always thought it was jim screaming but its robbies guitar, i wanna know how to get my guitar to make that sound its so sick

  • where is this footage taken from???

  • @elviscarlier This is from a The Doors Classic Albums. It comes on Vhi sometimes and is available on DVD..go to Best Buy or Barnes and Noble...great buy.

  • they need to release an acapella jim morrison album where modern day musicians can reinvigorate the vocals

  • This song is the high point of the acid rock era, thinking People's music.

  • holy shit. thumbs up if you got the chills at 3:56

  • @BakerBoarder95 i got the chills at 0:16

  • Wonderful song, neat story. Robby reminds me of Andy Kaufman starting at about 1:00 - 1:10. Respect and admiration to the good music of the Doors! (oh, and Black Flag)

  • my dentist told me that he saw the doors in concert opening for someone.

  • is this from a movie or dvd or something?

  • @wolfisloose theres these dvds called classic albums where they go song by song and talk abut hot each was recorded i have the dark side of the moon one :)

  • Cool video. This is my favorite Doors song by far. There isn't much you can really say about this song, you just have to listen to it -it's epic.

I wonder if there is an unedited version of the recording with the original vocals, I'd like to hear that.

  • Father?

    Yes, son?

    I wanna kill you.

    Mother?

    I want to ... wüüüüüüäääääüüüüüäääwääää

  • how could someone not like this

  • I saw Ray at a show a few years ago talk and play all the key songs of the Doors. It was awesome! Hehe...A couple of of years ago, he was standing right in front of me in line at the SF airport!!!!

  • BUTTONS! BUTTONS EVERYWHERE!

  • Poets and Music.

The beat poets of the 50's and early 60's did it with jazz.

Jim did it with a fusion of Jazz and Rock and every other influence, Ray, Robby and John had, put in a giant musical blender.

The Music was certainly different for the status-quo of the time. Jim's lyrics matched the different approach of the music. Together they were a perfect collection of conscious energy that was an unstoppable musical form.

One of the top ten "breakthrough" bands of all time.

  • God, How i love that guitar intro

    Btw

Ray is such a terrific story teller.

  • One of my favorite songs of theirs.

  • This was the last song Dave Diamond played on the old 1500 KBLA the night of June 16, 1967.

  • The Doors, more than any band other than The Dead, cast a deep spell shared by their audience. When you saw The Doors, you were invited into a communal celebration; a timeless voyage of which that particular night was but one sliver of now. Wherever you are, Jim, thanks for trancelike moments never forgotten.

  • Fuck ;D

  • Awesome! :)

  • this song is so deep and dark

  • @Pockymaniac oedipus the king, oedipus rex

  • The part starting at 2:55 sounds better than the studio version.

Was it ever released on a live album?

  • Yea on the Doors live album, it's great, some extra verses.

  • @Paracelsus23 Ok thanks I found it on In Concert.

  • this is fuckin magical..

  • jeez ray looks so tan!!! god he is an awesome keyboardist!!!!!

  • Yea noone agrees with you on thoughts like that, not even jim... Killing the father meant to get rid of any oppresive government that, you know, frowns upon you or whatever, to question authority, is the meaning, fuck the mother was meant as in mother nature, to kill the innocence of a child (sex is pretty much how you do that, not having it, but like learning (or having, you know whatever) but yea, he just wanted to see the crowds reaction, he knew people were going to think of it that way,

  • Actually, This Relates To A Myth I Think It Is, Um It's That Our First Instinct In Life Is To Kill Our Father And Our First Sexual Attraction Is To Our Mother.

  • crazy fuken song lol

  • mother, yes son, i want to... FUCK YOU!!!!

  • " . . . he took a face from the ancient gallery . . . and he walked on down the hall."

  • i agree. fuck henry rollins.

  • @vcfrnhjuhn dude have some respect he likes the doors man. people who enjoy the doors get there music.

  • @Nobodie92 no because he makes shit music and hes saying The Doors are his biggest influence so that means they inspired him to make that shit music? hell no Henry Rollins can suck a big fat one.

  • @vcfrnhjuhn i actually enjoy black flags music man. your assuming that everyone hates it for one. and never in this has he said the doors were his biggest influence. he's just saying that he enjoys the band a lot. and even if he did say that it was his biggest influence why would you have something against that?

  • @vcfrnhjuhn

Re: The Henry Rollins tirade: were you a neglected child?

  • @vcfrnhjuhn

He was only the leader of one of the most influential punk bands ever...

  • @vcfrnhjuhn and u do?

  • @vcfrnhjuhn Henry Rollins is one of the most intelligent musicians and authors of the last thirty years. Because you don't like a few of his songs, he can't express his opinions? Shut the fuck up and read a spelling/grammar book.
