Hi stevie boy ,the inlay ? it looked like you routered at the edge but the inlay was not at the edge? could you show on close up greater detail how you did this ,please master,
@bogsdolics Hey Graeme, Yeah I should have showed that better. It's really simple: I just rabbeted the top panel all the way around...not the box lid itself. Then I glued the panel in, then I just set the inlay strips into the groove.
@stevinmarin ahh I see , simple now I know , I made your nail in a piece of wood trick , its great , going to try more of you stuff when I get time ,its very sunny here today ! in Scotland !
im making this in wood shop at school and today i removed the lid and saw dust got between the fence and the box and i didnt know and it mad a little slit where the lid meets the bottom but i figured out how o fill it in
Very nice. Thanks for showing me how to put some unused router bits and scrap wood to good use. BTW, what did you do on the bottom of the box? Do you see plywood when you turn it over? Thanks again...
Very nice project , a pleasure to watch , nice music Pity for us Europeans to hear everything in Inches but thats just a minor glitz.Very very nice all around.Small question ...the side fits of the box look like 45 degree cuts .How did you make that??Angled band saw?Tilted stationary circular saw??? Also,I live in a hot climate. My nice pieces of wood, quickly are all bend out of shape.Aggrevating and expensive loss.Any advice???Thanx for a nice video.Notis Koundouris Syros Greece
HI, Just a minor comment for spraying finish, or paint, or whatever. I use what I think the women call a Lazy Susan. It has a stationary base, but the flat top plate revolves. It's usually used at the dinner table. Anyway, just place your project on it, spray it, revolve it, spray it again, and repeat. No more walking around your table, or saw horses trying to get it all covered. It's so much easier, and very simple. Wonderful work you do.
Very nice project. It's refreshing to see someone do great projects in their garage and not in a massive shop with thousands of dollars of commercial size tools.
hi steve can you tell me how much your bandsaw cast. thanks jack

Why chamfer the lid & the box at the end, YOU'VE 'EFFING RUINED IT !!!!
nickoakley69 1 year ago
@nickoakley69 Haha! Well, I liked the separation it gave. You certainly don't have to. Plus, a chamfer hides mistakes. ;-)

@stevinmarin Fair enough, your prerogative I suppose, still quite impressive though.

Mate, This is an excellent video and a beaut way to make a box lid. It never occurred to me that the lid could be made this way. I love it.

Excellent work! I haven't used inlay before, did you use miters on the corners or just butt the inlay strips together?
