  • Now i know why I quit coming over to YouTube. i can't find any of the answers to the questions asked and visa-versa. Why do people f-ck with stuff that isn't broke?

  • @stude1953 You got the umpire question correct...strange, don't you think? only 9 men in the history of basball...

  • @stude1953 But we are having so much fun...I mean...why stop??? lol

  • OK Sam I thought this was pretty interesting: Ripken played 16 yrs. in a row w/o missing a game. Lou played 14 yrs., but who is No.3? Clue: He held the record before Lou broke it. He played 9 yrs. w/o missing a game and No.4 was Steve Garvey with 8 yrs.

  • @stude1953

    Wasn't it Roger Peckenpaugh?

  • @samuelbecket1977 Nope it was Everett 'Deacon' Scott who played SS for the Red Sox in 1917-18-19-20-21 and then was a Yankee in 1922-23-24-25 and then over to Wash. in 1925 w/o missing a game! He may have been in the same game that Lou started his streak on June 1, 1925, but I'm not sure when the Yanks traded him in '25. 1307 games. Lou played 5 more yrs. than Scott.

  • @stude1953 What happened on this date in 1886????????

  • @stude1953 Ok Watch-man, what happened on this date in 1888????????????

  • @stude1953 The Pirates weeeeeeeeeeeeeeen, the Pirates weeeeeeeeeeeeen!

  • @stude1953 Okay watch-man, time to get abck to BB Trivia...Who are the nine umpirers in the HOF????

  • Such an easy one too! Al Barlick, Nestor Chylak, Jocko Conlan, Tom Connolly, Billy Evans,Cal Hubbard,Bill Klem, Bill McGowan, and Doug Harvey.

  • @samuelbecket1977 Oh yea I knew it was a Yankee ss just got the wrong one...lol

  • @stude1953 Ok Watch-Man, what happened on this date in 1892? and in 1099?

  • @stude1953 Okay what happened on this DATE in 1692 and 1944......

  • @stude1953 OK Wayne,

What happened on this date in 1877....??????

  • @stude1953 When Cano got his 100th hit yesterday he became the fourh fastest Yankee to reach 100 hits in a season, who were the other Three.....

  • @samuelbecket1977 ....the yankeeeeees win, the yankeeeeeeeees ween.

  • I looked up the Babe's pitching stats. He was a full time pitcher for only 5 yrs., but ended up with a .671 avg. better than anything on the Pirates now! Only had 10 homers hit off of him, struck out over 400, and hit 29 guys, probably half of them intentional! lol I love the Babe!!

  • @stude1953 Watch-Man you are a wealth of information...And the Yankeeees win, the Yankeeeeees win...!!!

  • @stude1953 OK Wayne, what did the National league do for the FIRST time in 2009?????

  • @stude1953 Re: hits

    Ruth 2,873

    Jeter 2,783

  • @samuelbecket1977 Jeter is at 2,805 I believe just 8 from tieing Sisler who hasn't had a hit since 1930!

  • @stude1953 Only one other Yankee ever hit three homers in a game against Boston who did it before Texiria?????

  • That's a pretty easy one Sam. The Ironman, Lou Gehrig.

  • @stude1953 Here is an even easier one...Cervelli had five rbi's yesterday against Boston who was the last Yankee CATCHER to do that against the Sox? LOL (And when?)

  • July 3rd, 1957, hmmm his name escapes me right now, but didn't they name a bear after him? lol

  • @stude1953 Okay Watch-Man, how many pairs of Chopsticks were used in China last year?

1, None, they now use forks

    2. Who the Heck cares

    3. 45 Billion

    4. LOL

  • @stude1953 testing 1, 2, 3

  • @stude1953 The Mets did something last nite that hasn't been done since 1955 in the NL.

  • @stude1953 What baseball player just passed away who stole 109 bases in 1046???

  • OK Sam in 1046 that must have been Ben Hur! lol

  • @stude1953 Ben Hur could hurl....lol

  • Actually Sam I was listening to a classical station a few days ago and they came on and said that Dottie Kamenshek had passed away and said she had stole 109 bases in 1946 and that the movie "A League of Their Own' was based on her life. And then they played "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" by the boston Pops. Why they did this i don't know if Dottie was into classical music of if the DJ was just an advid fan of hers.

  • @stude1953 Correct the answer is Gina Davis....LOL

  • @stude1953 Classical station...I love Rimski Korsokov(sic)...Jeter became the 45th man to reach 2,800 hits, but the Yankees lost AGAIN. Jill has 31,000 subs on youtube and her second channel had 9,000 so she is at 40,000 total.

  • @stude1953 OK Wayne what happened on this date in 1974 AND 1933????

  • @stude1953 Okay Wayne, what happened in baseball on this date...in the years 1951, 56, and 57....

  • @stude1953 Okay Watch-Man what happened on this date in 1792,1796 and 1926???????????????????

  • KY & Tenn. admitted to the Union. And Marilyn was born as was Andy Griffith, Also did you know this is the day in 1925 that Gehrig started his Ironman streak! It held up for 70 long years! And in 1947 Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones was born too!

  • @stude1953 Okay Watch-Man what happened on this date in 1935....

  • OK Sam this maybe another easy one for you: out of all the teams that have ever played MLB there is only one franchise that has been in the same city as when MLB began in 1876 name that team?

  • OK Sam this maybe easy or it maybe hard. What Yankee number has been retired although the player never once wore that number as a Yankee?

  • @stude1953 ....is it 42? i know that number has been retired by all clubs and only active players who have the number can wear it..like Marino.

  • Correcto Mr. Yankee. I thought it was an easy question but kinda neat. The number was retired for the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson starting in the majors. And as you said only players who had the number before that can wear it so in a few years no one will be allowed to wear that number. And that is the only number on every team.

  • @stude1953 the Red Sox lost yesterday to the Twins in the first game played in Minnesota's new ball park. The Sox have played in FIVE first games in their long history. One was opening day aginst the Yankees in 1923...name the other four new stadiums they played in...by the way they lost all five games!!!!!

  • You got me on this one Sammy!

  • @stude1953 The losses happened at:

    Oriole park 1901

    Shibe Park 1909

    Griffith Park 1911

    Yankee Stadium 1923

    Targret Field 2010

  • @stude1953 Jeter and Cano have done something already this year that no other Yankee pair has done in the Franchise history...what is it?

  • Easy one Mr. Yankee, First time Yankee teammates have hit in ten consecutive games. Now what about my question about the earliest francihse (it's buried somewhere on here lol). And this one: HOW MANY TIMES HAS LINCOLN'S BODY BEEN DUGUP AND MOVED?

  • @stude1953 Cincinnat and once?

  • Good answer, but wrong! Cinncinati started in the NL (MLB) in 1890. They started in the defuct Amer. Assoc. League. Two teams that started in MLB in 1876 are still playing today. But the Braves started in Boston, then moved to Milw. and then again to Atlanta, so only one team that started playing in the city they started in are the Chicago Cubs!

  • YouTube wouldn't post my Lincoln answer the first time for some reason.lol His body was moved SIX times. The first time after the botched attempt to steal it in 1876 and 4 more times because of the tomb crumbling and water seepage and finally in 1901 when his casket was opened because of public outcry that he really wasn't inside the casket! He was of course, and then two tons of concrete were poured on top of it. So he now finally belongs to the ages.

  • @stude1953 How many times has Lincoln's body been dug up?

also my question..Ken Griffey Jr. shares the same birthdate and birthplace of which HOFer?

  • Actually Lincoln's body only had to be dug up twice I believe. Most of the time it was just on a pedistol or saw horses inside a mosolieum when they moved it. As for the Griffey Jr. question- Stan 'the Man' was 49 when Jr. was born. And of course Griffey Sr. was born there too. I believe both live in Cinn. now. Donora is about 25-30 miles from here. And it's the reason there is a Clean Air Act in the U.S.

  • @stude1953 Wow you are good. Another one..which MLB pitcher has the lowest number on his back? It's not Acevedo (#91) of the Yankees.LOL

  • This was harder than I thought it would be to find out. Clay Buchholz of the Red Sox wears #11 and so does Kenshin Kawakami of the Braves. Rick White of the 2006 Phillies wore #00 for awhile and Matt Young of the 1992 Mariners wore #1, but those guys are long gone.

  • @stude1953 Correct again, although i have never heard of Kawakami...LOL. OK Watch-Man, why does ACE Acevedo wear the #91???

  • I haven't the foggest Sam! lol Why did he pick that number?

  • @stude1953 #91 belonged to Dennis Rodman and apparently Acevedo was a fan of his.

  • @stude1953 What team has the record for the most stolen bases in one game/...hint it was done in the NL against your favorite team.....

  • Well Sam it's probably one of those records that will never be broken. It's already 110 yrs. old!! Way, way...way back on May 23rd, 1890 the Giants stole 17 against the Pittsburgh Alleghenies. The Pirates weren't even around then! Here's a good one that I found while looking that one up: Who pitched the first no-hitter in NL history and what happened to him before the season ended? <-Great story here.

  • Oops! Imean 120 yrs.I have to keep on telling myself it's 2010 already! lol

  • @stude1953 Nolan Ryan...LOL I don't have the foggest idea...probably some one I never heard of.

  • On May 23, 1876, Joe Borden of the Boston Braves pitched the first no-hitter in NL history. But soon changes his style, loses his stuff and winds up the season as the club's groundskeeper!! ....Probably something that Big Ben will have done to him. Don't look for him to be here very much longer. The fans in Pgh. are very unforgiving!

  • @stude1953 In 1914 a record was set by a NY Yankee catcher..or was it a NY Highlander? What was that record which will probably nver be done again???

Big Ben is suspended for 6 games.

  • Sam all I could find was 1914 NY catcher Nunamaker threw out three base runners in one inning. That can't be it can it? That doesn't seem to be a big deal.

  • @stude1953 Yes think of it three men thrown out trying to steal in one inning,,,hasn't been done since 1914!

  • @stude1953 OK watch-man, who was the first American to raise the American Flag on foreign soil and where was that?

  • I'll say Gen. William Eaton at the shores of Tripoli at the city of Dana in Libya. ** Did you know that Babe Ruth's 59th homerun in 1927 was a grand slam?! Of the 60 how many were grand slam's? heh-heh-heh

  • @stude1953 the first man was Lt. Presley Neville O'Bannon (1776-1850)....the rest is correct...lol. O'bannon had three Naval ships named after him.

as for Ruth i would say he had only one grand slam...

  • His name was also listed, but they usually give credit to the guy highest in command at the time of the event. On the site i looked anyways.--- As for the Babe, he hit another one his 57th. Just two days earlier!

  • @stude1953 Wayne, the bosses always get the credit for the lirttle guys accomplishments...lol

Pirates gave up 9 runs in one inning...and the Sox won too 13-12!

  • Sam, I think the Pirates are just spinning their wheels with the pitching crew they got this year.

  • @stude1953 What HOF pitcher NEVER gave up a grandslam homer???????

  • That's a good one Sam! Jim Palmer of the Baltimore Orioles. I wonder how many the Babe gave up when he pitched? And here's one I found when I was looking around the net and NO one could answer it and I don't even know why it was ever questioned in the first place. lol **How many children does Ernie Banks have?**

  • @stude1953 Palmer is right...I would think grand slam homers were very few in the teens...maybe none....Banks...no idea....nine?

  • All right Sam here's a couple HR record questions: Who set the first 'most in a season HR's' record? And who in 1884 set the HR record that stood until 1919? That's as long as Babe's 1927 record until Maris broke it!!!

  • OK Sam who is the only player in baseball history to have 50 homers and 50 doubles in a season? Only one, UNO, no one else!!lol And it was done in 1995 so you should know this one.

  • Albert Bell?

  • Correct Mr. Yankee!

  • On the other hand--Willie mays only had 84 at bats with runner in scoring positon in 1956 and 79 in 1957! That was not correct line up positioning!! He had less then 90 RBIs in 1956 and less then 100 in 1957!

  • Sam I couldn't find your answer for the 50 doubles before the age of 23. I'm gonna take another chance looking. How about this one:-- There are only 3 positions that have never had a player hit 50 HR's. One is the pitcher, what are the other two? DH isn't one of them! Also there are still 12 teams that have never had a player hit 50 HRs! What team presently has gone the longest time!! The Braves went 130 yrs w/o a player hitting 50!! Not even Aaron or Mathews did it, but in 2005 Jones hit 51!

  • Billy Butler in 2009, also Arod, Pujols,Sizemore, Miguel Cabrera and Enos Slaughter and Hank Greenberg and finally Stan the Man...it would have to be Catcher and second base. I would say the Nats.

  • Correct on the 2b and Catcher! Boy you got your thinking baseball cap on tonight Mr. Yankee! But it's the Dodgers as the longest a team w/o a player hitting 50 HR;s. It's never happened for the Dodgers since 1891. And I was going to say ARod and Pujois for your question. I would have never guessed the others.

  • Well going into the 2010 season, Mr.Jeter is in 49th place in the hit list 2,747 and two hits away from Mr. Appling who hasn't had a hit since 1950!

  • Speaking of great years i always loved the stats Chuck kline put up in 1930..386 BA, 40 homers, 8 triples and 59 doubles plus 170 RBI's and 158 runs scored oh also 250 hits!!!

And chuck Kline did something in 1932 that has ONLY been done three times inn BB history what was it?????????

  • This is only a guess I'll say led the league in homers and stolen bases. He was only 53 when he died. That's way too young!

  • Correct-Jimmy Sheckard and Mr. Cobb were the other 2 and klien was of course the last man to do it...NOW..MrSheckard was the ONLYman to do what in BB history?????

  • That would have to be the two inside the park grad slam homers in consecutive games in 1901. BTW Jimmy died exactly two months before I was born at 68 in Lancaster Pa. .

  • Correct, he was really avery good ball player and better then a few of the old timers who are in the HOF..he also has two out fielding records, i think most DP's bt a left fielder and then when he played right field...

  • Since 1953 what player has the most at bats with runners in scoring position?

It's not a great ball player....

  • Dick Stuart. LOL

  • The answer is....Derek Bell in 1996 with 218 opportunities..he had 113 RBI's.

  • I wonder how many people Stuart LOB? I remember going to school with my chilhood friend Sonny and he would always be bitchin' about Stuart from the game the night before. He always wanted to go down to Forbes Field and beat him up, of course we were only 13 at the time. ha-ha-ha

  • In 1963 playing for Boston Stuart lead the league with 118n RBI's but also made 29 errors playing first base! When you were 14 years old Stuart had 114 RBI's for the Pirates and made ONLY 21 errors at first...LOL at 6'4" and 212 pounds it would have taken you, me and Sonny to take him down!!!

  • I never had a problem with Stuart. But Sonny hated him with a passion! lol The only Pirate that got me fired up was Bob Friend!

  • The only player I got angry with was, Tom Tresh, in 1966 when the Yankees were in decline, Tresh who was a good ball player was also in decline. My friend ronnie and I went to a nite game at the Stadium. there was probably 15,000 people in the stadium, or 50, 000 empty seats. I screamed at Tresh all game, calling him a bum. He probably heard me, amybe he didn't. i have felt bad about this for along time. I was only about 23, but i was a jerk and there you have''my confrssion, Father Wayne.

  • Ah, that'll be 3 Our Fathers and 2 Hail Mary's for you Sam!! And don't ever do it again!! i never acted like an ass at sports event or rock concert cause there we're always enough of them there to not let me add to the count! lol

  • i looked up Tresh and found out he passed away in 2008. i didn't know that. Also I was a horses-Ass sometime in 1968, when Tresh had a very bad year as did all the Yankees.

  • @stude1953

how many players have 10,000 at bats and who will be the next player to reach it?

  • That was an easy one 24 have made it so far and Omar Vizquel with only 78 more will be #25. That's about 20 games. My two top milestones this year will be Ken Griffey Jr. only needing 30 more homers to tie the Say Hey Kid at #4 all time! And A-Rod just needing 16 homers to reach 600 homers and #7.

  • @stude1953

Arod will get 16 and alot more. not sure if Griffey will do it this year. jeter only needs 253 hits for 3,000.

  • I agree. Jr. will have to have a good year to do that. A-Rod's is probably a shoo-in and we predicted Derek will get 3000 around July 4 next year.

  • @stude1953 Watch Man..who wore the number 3 longest in Yankee history, who was the first person to wear number seven in Yankeedom and how many men wore number 4 after Lou Gehrig?

  • OK let's see...The Babe only wore #3 for 5 yrs. so George Selkirk wore it longer 7 yrs. Leo wore #7 first only one yr. The Mick wore that for 17 yrs. he started out wearing #6 I beleive. And the ironman was the only player to wear #4. Six other players are the only ones to wear their numbers, name them? And Derek has worn #2 for 15 yrs. now but one guy wore that number for 23 yrs. Name him? And #84-87 89-90 and 92-98 have never been worn.

  • And one more ...Jorge Posada is the second player to wear #76 who was the other guy? I do believe we asked this one about 2 yrs. ago- refresher course.lol

  • @stude1953 Frank Crossetti...#2...I would say Jackie Robinson #42. Ted Williams #9,( Wayne Gretski #99...LOL)...Sandy Koufax, Willie Mays#24 Stan the Man...don't know?

  • OK Sam, you're right on Frank Crossetti wearing #2 for 23 yrs. And for the 6 that were the only ones to wear their numbers, I meant Yankees. And I found out their is a seventh player as of 2008. So I'll give you another chance on that. And Jorge Posada is the second player to wear #76 name the first guy? Whew my heads a-spinin'!! lol

  • @stude1953 Watch-Man this is too hard...i guess some of the 6 never made it pass a "cup of coffee" in the bigs!

  • OK Sam here we go...the 7 players are #67 Clay Christiansen #78 Matt Winters #79 Jamie Werley #81 J.Hernaiz #83 Doug Holmquist #88 Jose Cruz Sr.and #91 Alfredo Aceves. The numbers are so high I'm thinking they were probably coaches and such. And the only other player to wear #76 was Hop Cassidy. I think we talked about him before. He may have been the only ball player to win the Heisman Trophy. He gave up football to play in the big leagues.

  • @stude1953 only one player has hit a homer in his first and last at bats in the majors. Who is that player?

  • That would be John Miller in 1966 first time at bat and 1969 last at bat. And also pitcher Dave Eiland gave up a homer to the first player he faced in the majors and then 4 yrs. later in his first at bat he hit a homer! They were the only guys to do these two stunts.

  • @stude1953 I am very impressed. both correct. Only two HOFers ever hit a home run in their first at bat...guess you know this one too. LOL

  • I know Hoyt Wilhelm did it. His first and only HR in his career. And I know 104 players have done it. So I'll let you tell me the other HOF player. I found this pretty interesting: In the Baseball Hall of Fame they also have Babe Ruth's bowling ball, shoes and bag on display.

  • @stude1953 Earl Averill did it in 1929.

  • @stude1953 Today is April 12th...what happened on this date in 1861...???????Duh.

  • At 4AM the Confederacy fired the first cannon ball at Ft. Sumter, SC. They surrender the next day. To begin the Civil War 149 yrs. ago.

  • @stude1953 Only ONE pitcher has ever given up a homerun to the first batter he faced AND hit a homer in his first at bat...who is he Watch-Man?????? (he is currently a pitching coach).

  • and the price for a ticket to see The Beatles in Pittsburgh in 1964 was $5.75 and I didn't have the money to see them!!!! lol

  • the price for a ticket to Super Bowl one was $12.00. that was double the ordinary $6. Consequently there were many empty seats for game ONE.

  • Wayne, which sports category has had the most best movie nominations??????????

  • I'll say baseball. lol

  • Boxing.

    1. The champ 1931

    2.Rockey

    3.Million Dollar Baby

    4.Raging bull

    I think BB and football have three...but I can't think of any...LOL

  • Luther Guitar Jr. Johson was born in 1939...i thought he looked much older.

  • HAPPY NEW YEAR SAM! May the Baseball Gads-(inside joke) shine down on you and your family! I want to thank you for a year of great baseball trivia! And want you to know YOU are still 'Da Man' in my book Mr. Yankee!!!!

  • HAPPY 2010, Wayne, to you and yours....we just keep truckin on you and I.

  • Speaking of the NBA, what Red Sox player was also a first round pick in the 1947 draft!!!

  • Joe Dobson?

  • Walt Dropo who I recall was a big guy.

  • Dropo was also chosen by the Chicago Bears in '47 he had 144 RBI's in only 134 games in his rookie season...

  • Ok Watch-man who was the third, fourth and fifth Black player to play in the ML's????

  • #3Hank Thompson #4 Satchel Page 12 days after Hank in July '47. Tice was the first black player for the Phil. A's in '53 and Banks was the first Cub 4 days later. Curt Roberts (I have his card) was the first Pirate in '54 the yanks held out until the next year with Howard. But Moses Walker beat them all in the 1880's playing for the Toledo Blue Stockings! He was actually the reason for the ban. What did he do? It's hard to comprehend today why there was a black barrier at all.

  • Tice pitched a great game against the Yankees in 1954...a 1-0 shut out against Berra, Mantle, Rizzuto and the rest..may have been the only time that the A's beat the Yanks that year...NY won 103 games as you recall.

  • What were the price of a ticket for the FIRST superbowl??? (they were doubled of what it normally cost to see a game in 1965).

  • probably around $25?

  • Just as I predicted....but reversed...lol

  • Wayne, inhis Baseball handbook 2010, BiLL James lists players with the best chance to reach 3,000 hits. Jeter is number one (96%) who are the next three????

  • here's my picks basing it on if the player plays till he's 40:1) A-Rod needs 469 more in 7 years a diffenet shoo in. 2) Albert Pujols needs 1283 in 11 years pretty good odds he'll do it. 3) Ivan Rodriquez my surprise pick needs 289 in 3 yrs. very good odds he'll do it too. Some that I think still may have a chance are: Griffey if he can play till he's 42, Manny the same. And Susuki if he can keep getting 200 hits a year. Other than that I see no one else doing it until after 2020.

  • This is what he said:

    Jeter 96%

    Arod 89%

    Damon 46%

    Pujols 44%

    Cabrera, Miguel 36%

    Irchio 31%

  • He's going way out on a limb picking Cabrera. he's 26 and has 1220, but I remember when they said Griffey was going to break Aaron's career HR record when he was 26 and you see what happened to him. Damon is the same way, he's 35 and needs 575 more hits, but he gets hurt alot. For the young bucks I'd pick Carl Crawford he's 27 and has 1296. I still don't think Ichiro is going to do it he's 35 and needs 970 more. Unless he plays past 40. We'll just have to wait and see my friend! X-18 days!!!

  • I think Iricho already has 3,000 if you include Japan...I think he will make it in the Majors....what happened to roy Hobbs..LOL

  • The Yankees have had how many captains in their history?

    1. 14

    2. 7

    3. 5

    4. 6

  • I'll say #2, 7 of them. my thinking here is that they usually last their whole career as captains and that's 15-20 yrs. And the correct answer is..................

  • Seven -Jeter, Mattingley ,Nettles,Guidry/Randolph and Munson and Gehrig is the men most people think of...but the answer is 14!..If you count the entire Yankee/Highlander history.

Ruth was a captain in 1922 and he shared this with Evert Scott, don't forget Chase and Frank Chance and Peckinpaugh and Kid Elberfiield and Clark Griffith...LOL
