At the beginning I was sure I'm hearing a fagot and you're only doing playback, but then I realized that's the classic sound you brilliantly managed to get out of a saxophone, very nice! Cheers!
@cabe277 thanks man. The mouthpiece is not perfect. I have a little more trouble controlling intonation and getting the response I want out of it (I'm not used to playing it)... but I try!
You have extremely good tone and talent, I'm not going to lie, I have alot to learn to catch up, but one thing that kinda pissed me off was the fact is that you're flaunting your yamaha z custom no lacquer sax all over your channel. just put the title of the song you're playing and if people ask what model you have, just tell them. otherwise, you're really good!
@TheMagicMelodys take the sax to someone who specializes in working on saxophones and tell them to strip the lacquer off of it. Usually they'll be able to do it for you if they have the right resources. If you get a custom Z, you can get it from the factory without lacquer.
don't be so ignorant. all forms of music have originated from classical music like this. without pachelbel's canon and other masterpieces, jazz, rock and all other forms of music would be less likely to exist.
and yet you say he wasted the saxophone on the piece? if he was to get the music toy and gotten the same sound, the piece is not to blame, the saxophone is.
That is some great playing. where did you study at. do you have any tips for an alto sax player, i want to have a great tone like you amzing. im looking for a new horn and i love the finish on this custom. how much is it to get the pads and resonators changed. Thank you for this video.
@musicmaniacs1113 - thanks for the compliment. I'm actually not crazy about my tone. I'm a big self-critic. It would have sounded better if I was playing a legit classical mouthpiece with a better ligature. And since I'm really a jazz guy and don't play classical gigs anymore, I don't feel like investing in classical gear... I try to make what I got work. Thanks again!

Is it possible you could send me a few notes from some parts of the song like at 1:16 so I could try to figure it out on tenor?

Nice tone! What mouthpiece are you using?
cabe277 9 months ago 19
@cabe277 I'm using the yamaha 4CM mouthpiece that came with the horn. Nothing special. But it works.

@ratiocinativeness Damn, I could never get a sound like that out of a yamaha mouthpiece! Kudos

Just the fact that you have an unlaquered Z and you're not playing Jazz disappoints me...

@Vapor419 I do play jazz. I'm not really a classical musician.

Great job. I'm another one of those tenor players out there, but I suck, so it's nice to hear someone who's great at it, playing such a great piece.

Don't be so defensive. He could have gotten the same sound off of a $10 TJMaxx music toy.
