Thats what makes Final Fantasy games so good, characters you can relate and get attached to. Auron, by far, is the most awesome character i've seen, and this is coming from a Sephiroth fan
I know some folks didn't like FFX-2 as much, but I'm a sucker for happy endings and it gave me that cozy feeling at the end that FFX ripped out when both Auron and Tidus faded away. ^^; Also I loved the gameplay, garment grid a lot simpler than that orb grid thing.
@combatmaster I'm not sure if those two grids can be comparable. The garment grid was mainly used to change jobs and it'll give you few bonuses depending on the grids. The sphere grid in FFX is your main way of becoming stronger, learning new skills, etc. It'll be more comparable with the leveling concept that FF X-2 has to offer.

Auron's the real deal. The dude died fighting the hypocrisy of Yevon and became an unsent to keep his promise to protect Yuna and helped his other friend's son stop him from wrecking havoc, all while being a religious outcast. Auron had quite a story himself. Even when he was being sent, he was all laid back about xD

@KiraDemons Actually Tidus and Jecht were real once they died in the Bevelle/Zanarkand war. They Fayth were people once who chose to become fayth in order to preserve Zanakrand. Everyone in the dream Zanarkand was real once because they are being remember by the fayth of the summoning and Tidus and Jecht were both star Blitz players. Also to end all discussions Tidus mother was in the farplane proof that she lived once.

@badflamer Have you never played FF7? His ultimate weapon is Death Penalty. They didn't make that weapon for DoC, it was already his ultimate weapon. Besides, Vincent's nature is better when it is a complete mystery. It makes him more interesting and unpredictable. They ruined him in DoC. They also ruined Cloud. There is no way that Rosso should have survived a battle with Cloud, so why show them clashing swords if you're gonna show her 30 minutes later completely unscathed?

While people's heart strings were getting pulled over Yuna and Tidus, mine were getting pulled over Auron. He never asked for anything return despite his tragic past... He was an honorable character.
The stoic swordsman is a very common archetype in alot of RPG's thus making very hard to make anything of a surprise about them. Auron altho has the typical knowledge and know-how to help out tidus and group its his reasons that makes his character so compelling and breaks the mold. Killed as he tried to avenge Braska and jecht but his willpower to keep his promise to look after tidus tided him to the world as a unsent. A man trying to rectify a past mistake to bring lasting peace.
Shes a great character in boths games from a players perspective, doesn;t change the fact that shes extremely naive, gullible and not too intelligent.
Man....That was the most saddess scene ever. I'd played and finished the game so many times, and that scene and Tidus leaving was so very sad. it always gets me.

i think it's because he knew kihmari before he met any of the rest of the people. so kihmari deserved a friendly 'bro-hit'. :) auron was the one who told kihmari to find yuna & take care of her, after braska's pilgrimage was over. Auron couldn't have taken care of yuna, because he died & promised jecth that he'd watch over tidus.
Auron and Vincent both are the same . Both have devoted their lives to saving the world they're in. To atoning for pasts mistakes. Both are extremely moral and good men underneath while appearing aloof and distant on the exterior. The only difference between the two is unlike Auron who fades away and has conquered his regrets, Vincent has to live on and is weighed done by his to the point of feeling he deserves no redemption. Too bad DoC completed fucked his character up.
Vincent stood by and watched as the love of his life conducted unethical experiments with a madman of a scientist, knew he should stop it, but also, like Auron hesitated until it was too late. When he tried to stop it, he was shot. Feeling as though it were all his fault, he chose to stay hidden away for 30 years, hoping that time would heal it. However, when Cloud finds him, he realizes action is what is needed to reverse the consequences and sets off, like Auron, as an atonement hero.
Why compare Vincent and Auron? Both are very much alike in all regards. He stood by and watched as his friends were killed for nothing, regrets it, and is atoning by protecting Tidus and Yuna while hoping to steer them in a way that could bring the world a change that would truly save it. He's an atonement hero who wishes to make up for his mistake and set the world right.
Auron is easily the best character in gameplay, he deals the most damage and can take the most damage, he can deal 99999 damage using a bottle of alcohal.
shame that the story generally ignores him in favour of the two dementional bed wetter that is Tidus.
Some can't wait to die!

While people's heart strings were getting pulled over Yuna and Tidus, mine were getting pulled over Auron. He never asked for anything return despite his tragic past... He was an honorable character.

The stoic swordsman is a very common archetype in alot of RPG's thus making very hard to make anything of a surprise about them. Auron altho has the typical knowledge and know-how to help out tidus and group its his reasons that makes his character so compelling and breaks the mold. Killed as he tried to avenge Braska and jecht but his willpower to keep his promise to look after tidus tided him to the world as a unsent. A man trying to rectify a past mistake to bring lasting peace.

Man....That was the most saddess scene ever. I'd played and finished the game so many times, and that scene and Tidus leaving was so very sad. it always gets me.

@Haseo111 actually is not true he is only alive in one ending and inst the real one, the real story ending Tidus is dead anyway. and even that ending where tidus revives, don't make sense with the story from FFX and FFX-2, that's why the FFX-2 is so stupid most of the story don't match with the original game...

He sure had his insecure moments too... like the one where you are in the Yevon-Dome where he tries to kill the ghost/memory of himself with his sword... but it's okay... it's his semi-human thinking that makes him so cool!

i think it's because he knew kihmari before he met any of the rest of the people. so kihmari deserved a friendly 'bro-hit'. :) auron was the one who told kihmari to find yuna & take care of her, after braska's pilgrimage was over. Auron couldn't have taken care of yuna, because he died & promised jecth that he'd watch over tidus.

Auron and Vincent both are the same . Both have devoted their lives to saving the world they're in. To atoning for pasts mistakes. Both are extremely moral and good men underneath while appearing aloof and distant on the exterior. The only difference between the two is unlike Auron who fades away and has conquered his regrets, Vincent has to live on and is weighed done by his to the point of feeling he deserves no redemption. Too bad DoC completed fucked his character up.

Vincent stood by and watched as the love of his life conducted unethical experiments with a madman of a scientist, knew he should stop it, but also, like Auron hesitated until it was too late. When he tried to stop it, he was shot. Feeling as though it were all his fault, he chose to stay hidden away for 30 years, hoping that time would heal it. However, when Cloud finds him, he realizes action is what is needed to reverse the consequences and sets off, like Auron, as an atonement hero.

Why compare Vincent and Auron? Both are very much alike in all regards. He stood by and watched as his friends were killed for nothing, regrets it, and is atoning by protecting Tidus and Yuna while hoping to steer them in a way that could bring the world a change that would truly save it. He's an atonement hero who wishes to make up for his mistake and set the world right.

Auron is easily the best character in gameplay, he deals the most damage and can take the most damage, he can deal 99999 damage using a bottle of alcohal.
shame that the story generally ignores him in favour of the two dementional bed wetter that is Tidus.
