@fabianwseko this is a verbal cue to allow the arms and club to rest naturally at address without manipulation, and as you start the swing, to allow gravity and good rhythm to swing the club rather than placing it in positions. Matt Blois
Hi Shawn. Huge fan of all your videos. Can you please address the right side in the swing. There is a lot of talk about right side golf these days and it would appear you're teaching a body motion with passive hands. Hogan always said he wished he had 3 right hands. Relating it back to your hammer analogies, if I were swinging a large hammer with two hands and I'm right handed, wouldn't I tend to use that right hand to push the hammer into impact? Wouldn't this be a natural move? Thanks
i'd love to try this but my wife would get mad at me for not using the rake to rake the leaves. with my luck i'd let it go and toss it through the window too.
How much of your teachings are based from ideas employed by Moe Norman? I have watched a ton of Moe Norman video and think his ideaology was spot on. Second, do you employ the idea of setting up your irons 4-6 inches behind the ball as Moe used to do?
Shawn, perfect video. I love the way you explain things. I need a little help from you. Do you have a training idea for the section in this video from miinute 6.15 to 6.21 Ehen you Switch the hands. I just started golf and I am left handed ;-) Thanks J.
@10541 Yes, this pertains to the action to target; what makes the hands lead is the focus of the delivery of the energy or action in the direction you want to start the ball; see "Hammer Through; shawn clement", "throwing the club; shawn clement", Fishing and golf; shawn clement" and "how arms and club release; shawn clement"; Shawn
@Jamesivob Hey James! Have a look at my "Overswing and Fast backswing; shawn clement" video as well as my "Hammer through", "Feel your swing plane" and "Farm Hammer" videos which talk about how to use the weight of the Arm-Club or arm-hammer units to perform the task; it will clear a few things up for you; Shawn
Shawn... excellent creative instruction, as usual.
I couldn't help but notice when you were swinging that rake, on the profile view, that the fingers of the rake were pointing directly downward. Yet they started pointing upward before your swung.
Is that right? Is there not something visually/technically wrong with that image? If that were your driver head, where would the face be pointing at the top of your swing?
Very curious to know if this is normal or just 'your' personal swing.
@marklarm Maybe I can answer this for Shawn. At address the rake head is 90 degrees to the back of the left hand. At the top of the swing, it's the same relationship. Imagine you had a long nail through the palm of the left hand, same relationship at the top. In a similar way the leading edge of the club is in line with the back of the left hand (more or less dependent on how strong the grip is). It's a bit of a brain burner, but just think about it and it'll make sense!
@marklarm They are always pointed upwards at address Mark; not down; remember that instruction about the toe up position that is running rampant in the industry? well the rake has a whole row of toes pointing up that you can consider the face of the club; make more sense now? Shawn
@CPDAtlanta Just means that your grip is not strong enough for 1 and you will want to check the set up with a ball on a higher tee vs a low tee or ground; see "great driver tip; shawn clement" and "rip the driver; shawn clement"; Shawn
@sypen1 Not to a guy who thinks Tiger's swing looks good! LOL! My swing looks more like Jack Nicklaus; you know, the guy Tiger is trying to catch but is running out of time!
@RollYourRock You are allowing the arms to fall in front of you without crashing into the body and an object in motion stays in motion and you will let the arm club unit release itself towards the target; you definitely need to get this question on my forum and have some of the guys answer in more detail with added videos; you definitely want to watch 3 key ones to start called "Arms and Body Timing; shawn clement", "Stop crashing; shawn clement" and "get bubba wide; Shawn clement"

Shawn,
Can you explain' feel the weight of the arm club unit' a bit more please? Is there a total lack of tension in the arms? How can they then be taut?

Hey Shawn
I have a problem with fading/slicing my driver but do not have the problem with any other clubs. What would you suggest to stop a 20 yd fade?
Thanks

Thanks again Shawn...
Shawn, should we strive for width on the downswing as well? Where should the hands initially be directed at the start of the downswing?
