I remember all the hype for this team after they blew everyone out in the Big 10. No one put it together that they didnt play anyone with a pulse the final two months of their season besides Michigan. Troy Smith and the buckeyes had already won the national championship. Except no one told Florida, and they put on one of the dirtiest beatdowns in a long time. Ginn is sick but he wouldn't have made the 28 point differential.

Second, the reason for the loss was the refusal of Jim Heacock to change his defensive scheme against the slant since that is about all Florida ran. OSU got outcoached. Finally, Florida was just lucky to make it to the national championship game. They won three games by a total of eight points.
First of all, style points don't matter, a W is a W and Florida had the hardest schedule in the country and went 6-1 against 7 top 25 teams. The score doesnt matter, OSU's NC in 02 had them beat unranked Illinois, Cincinatti, Wisconsin, and Purdue by less than 6 points every game including OT with the 5-7 Illini. So blow that point up your ass. Second, the reason you lost was b/c of a lot of reasons, not just your DC. Your DC had nothing to do with your O gaining 83 yards and 1 TD.

The Big Ten is still one of the toughest conferences in my opinion. That whole SEC speed myth couldn't hold it's own in a tough, hard hitting gritty conference like the big ten. But I honestly do think UGA was the best team in 07, LSU might've had a better team but they didn't show up to a game after Ms. State. 2007 UGA wasn't close to the best team in America. They were peaking, I'll give you that and were one of the top teams. But USC or LSU at full health were head and shoulders the best.

Seeing as the 05 Sugar Bowl was before SEC dominance that's really irrelevant. I obviously know the SEC wasn't the best conference 4 years ago. The past 3 seasons the SEC has been the best conference, you can bitch all you want but that's the truth, and your team has felt their wrath twice.
And as far as legit programs UGA beat, in 06 they beat 3 straight ranked teams with a true freshmen qb. Which I'm pretty sure OSU hasn't ever done. #5 Auburn, #12Vt. Ginn was a release for Smith to throw to, Ginn could have run short routes where smith could have thrown the ball to him instantly, and he had the ability to turn it into a big play, that's what he does, If these two teams met during the regular season, it would have been one sided except with Ohio State.

I remember all the hype for this team after they blew everyone out in the Big 10. No one put it together that they didnt play anyone with a pulse the final two months of their season besides Michigan. Troy Smith and the buckeyes had already won the national championship. Except no one told Florida, and they put on one of the dirtiest beatdowns in a long time. Ginn is sick but he wouldn't have made the 28 point differential.

@cobrien1710 First off, the Big Ten decides the final two months of the schedule since they were all Big Ten teams so don't put that on OSU. Second, the reason for the loss was the refusal of Jim Heacock to change his defensive scheme against the slant since that is about all Florida ran. OSU got outcoached. Finally, Florida was just lucky to make it to the national championship game. They won three games by a total of eight points.

First of all, style points don't matter, a W is a W and Florida had the hardest schedule in the country and went 6-1 against 7 top 25 teams. The score doesnt matter, OSU's NC in 02 had them beat unranked Illinois, Cincinatti, Wisconsin, and Purdue by less than 6 points every game including OT with the 5-7 Illini. So blow that point up your ass. Second, the reason you lost was b/c of a lot of reasons, not just your DC. Your DC had nothing to do with your O gaining 83 yards and 1 TD.

EASILY a different game. I laugh at people saying Ginn doesn't play defense or o line. He doesn't BUT, he can do quick slants and Troy Smith would have someone to throw to quickly. And then with his speed, he can turn those short passes into big plays. Then when they focus on him, you get Gonzo in the game. Focus on Gonzo, you go to robiske. You focus on Robiskie and all the other receivers you got Pittman and Beanie to run. DEFINITELY not the same team we saw during the regular season.

The Big Ten is still one of the toughest conferences in my opinion. That whole SEC speed myth couldn't hold it's own in a tough, hard hitting gritty conference like the big ten. You would have to have a diff. runningback for evey play against the big ten because all of the runnigbacks would be hurt after just a few hits haha

LSU didnt "show up" because they're key players had several nagging injuries throughtout the year Glenn Dorsey being the biggest.
LSU faced us finally healthy and it showed. Their Dline was tough sledding all night.

The Bama team that Utah faced was without its best player... which never helps. I do feel Utah would still have pulled it out, but i'm sure the late offensive collapse of the Tide wouldnt have been so vast.
We as fans have been blessed to see some great games in this decade, but some real blowouts on a national scale as well.
That said, we have what... 84 days to kickoff? We'll just have to limp along until then.

I'm not making excuses, UF came to play and very much did congrats to them. But you root for a team that has nothing to do with either Buckeye loss and anything beyond that is pure bullshit speculation simply based on the premise that the SEC is the end all be all. While I'l admit it has been top to bottom the best conference since 2006, history see's these in cycles, Big 10 time will come around again.
I think were just both frustrated with the off-season layoff. Olive branch now?

But I honestly do think UGA was the best team in 07, LSU might've had a better team but they didn't show up to a game after Ms. State. Look at the Championship, look how LSU started that game, it was like they didn't even care. If OSU didn't shoot themselves LSU could've easily lost, just Like against Ark., and Kentucky. And while USC might athletically been the best team, who did they beat? Illinois? USC didn't deserve a shot. Hawaiis awful but at least UGA had one of the hardest schedules.

2007 UGA wasn't close to the best team in America. They were peaking, I'll give you that and were one of the top teams. But USC or LSU at full health were head and shoulders the best.
13 total rushes for 77 yards by 2 backs and one WR. That's 5.84 ypc. Pretty solid, but we didnt run the ball much because, lets face it...we didnt have it.

And as far as legit programs UGA beat, in 06 they beat 3 straight ranked teams with a true freshmen qb. Which I'm pretty sure OSU hasn't ever done. #5 Auburn, #12Vt. Both have BCS trophies under their belt. And 07, put all this aside you know UGA was the best team in the country, besides the fact they beat 6 ranked teams including the same defending champs that whooped OSU. And UGA would've spanked OSU in New Orleans too. Not saying much seeing as they shouldn't have been there anyways.

Georgia talked way too much shit and West Virginia came out and whooped the Dawgs in the first quarter. They hung 28 up before UGA reacted. The rest of the game UGA outscored WVU 35-10 If not for the ballsiest fake punt with 1:43 left, UGA problywould've won. That's why you play all 4 quarters, I'm not gonna sit here and make excuses for my team like you do for OSU, I admit WVU outplayed UGA.

Yea Georgia's season wasn't what people expected. When a team loses 5 O-linemen, 2 LT, 1 of them being an All-American, and another 19 season ending injuries you can only expect so much. I thought UGA was overrated to start and I knew they couldn't live up to #1 with 3 backup freshmen starting on the line, but hey OSU plays in the Big 10 and still finished the same record as UGA, with another BCS loss to add to the resume. Seeing as the Big 10's 08 Bowl record was 1-6 to the SEC's 6-2, or in 07 when the SEC was 7-2 and the Big10 was 2-5.You can't gloat or chant because your so school and conference blows. Sorry about the Jarvis Moss 40 time, I knew that was wrong. I got wrapped up with the SEC and Ohio Stated I just said the wrong name. I meant Marcus Howard, not Moss. Besides the fact that a DE Moss ran a faster time then the LB Laurinitus, Matthew Stafford, a pocket qb did as well. And UGA DE Marcus Howard ran a 4.45, faster then OSU's top corner Malcolm Jenkins. If that doesn't distinguish speed and athleticicsm between the SEC and Big 10 I don't know what does.

2006 UF had a great modern defense? yeah, no. They had an undersized line that nobody in the SEC exploited with the power run game. Which is why Pittman had 6.0ypc in the Title game.

There's no question Ginn's a gamechanger, however the game wouldn't have been much different. Ginn wasn't on defense to stop Leak from picking apart OSU's D. Ginn wouldn't have stopped the constant pressure Florida put on Troy Smith. OSU averaged 45 points and 450 yards during 06. They produced 7 points and 83 yards against Florida. Are you implying that Ginn was 85% of the offense's success, or do you just want to admit OSU hadno buisiness with the SEC defense they faced.

As juicedup said, Ohio State didn't prepare and turned into complete slack offs before the game, they worked their ass off during the season but became overconfident after Michigan.
Ginn was a release for Smith to throw to, Ginn could have run short routes where smith could have thrown the ball to him instantly, and he had the ability to turn it into a big play, that's what he does, If these two teams met during the regular season, it would have been one sided except with Ohio State.

Also overconfidence can only do so much for the opposing team. Did OSU still think they were so vastly superior when Florida answered their kickoff with a quick scoring drive? And why would it have beenone sided favoring OSU? Even if Ginn was the god like figure who could put 300+ yards your making him out to be, what makes OSU's D turn this game into a rout? Florida would've put 500+ yards up if they didn't keep the clock running in the second half. Just admit, you have no buisiness with the SEC. Ginn trained beforehand, and UF couldn't even touch him, once they caught on to Ginn tressel would have started with Gonzo, after they started catching on to gonzo they'd go to Robiskie and repeat in random rotations.
Ohio State was unprepared, Mid-Season this team would have been unstoppable.

OSU, Thanks for spitting a gameplan to me there chief, I'm sure you know what Ohio State planned on doing. Saying Tressel was going to have Ginn, Gonzalez, and Robiskie, his top 3 recievers,get the ball is quite a bold prediction, must've spent countless hours analyzing to see that. And im sure Florida didn't have a gameplan to at least slow down Ginn, he's a fucking reciever. He needs someone to put the ball in his hands unlike a qb or rb. Calvin Johnson had 2 catches for 10 yards against UGA.

Overconfidence boils over long before the game. Troy checked in significantly overweight, we lost our greatest offenseive threat, our game plan was sloppy, the offensive line unprepared for the competition and by halftime everybody had been shellshocked.

I'm sorry but I got to agree with some other people on here. I'm a Bama fan but I watched OSU alot in 2006. That team was a really fucking good team. That team was 10 times better than what they showed in the BCS champ game that year. Had they stayed focused and not get to cocky the score wouldn't have been so one sided. Utah did the exact same thing to Alabama.

No, Ohio state seemed so unstoppable because they play in the Big10.Cockiness had nothing to do with it. Florida was stronger and faster and showed them how much better the SEC is. Yea they were. Michigan got their asses handed to them in the Rose Bowl by USC, after they calimed they should've had a rematch with OSU for the National championship. Wisconsin beat Arkansas by 3 in the capitol one bowl.
